To be fair, Ji started the thread *after* Ernie had already been secretly extended.

So maybe the direction of causation is different. Rather than things not happening because Ji predicts them, perhaps he only predicts things after it becomes metaphysically certain that they won't happen?

This could possibly be a schrodinger's cat situation. The cat is both alive and dead until you open the box. Ji opened the box with his prediction, and guaranteed that cat lives on.
