Re: GT: Knicks Vs Wizards Pre-Season Kickoff 7PM
Rivers has been very disappointing. I feel like he does too much. He needs to simplify the game. Attack the hoop, kick it if the defense helps and finish if they don't. And shoot wide open 3's. The constant off the dribble creation will never be efficient or effective. If I'm an opposing defense I let Rivers create off the dribble for jumpers all day.

Agreed. I don't worry much if Rivers gets a handful of minutes a night. The problem is, he's going to get a lot of Sato's minutes.
That said, I'm not sure 2000 is realistic, unless Wall and Beal miss a ton of games.
There are 7,872 minutes available per year at guard. Assuming Wall and Beal each play 34 minutes a night for 82 games, that would account for 5,576 of those minutes. That leaves 2296 minutes to be shared by Sato and Rivers. I'd be happy with Sato getting 20 minutes a night and Rivers getting 8, which would result in 1640 minutes for Sato and 656 minutes for Rivers.
If a starter gets hurt and Sato moves to the starting lineup, he'd add another 14 minutes per game for every game a starter missed. Wall or Beal would have to miss 26 games for Sato to get to 2000 minutes. Obviously, Sato (and Rivers) could add more minutes if they played SF, but given our depth at forward, I'm not sure it'll be that much of an upgrade.
Of course, we all know that Brooks is going to screw it up and play Rivers 1600 minutes with Sato only getting 700.

I’ve yet to see anything from Rivers (Rios?) that suggests he does anything to help the team. Can’t shoot, can’t defend, can’t really finish.
Every quarter or so there’s been a decent drive and dish. But mostly I see frustration in our viewing future.

In Rizzo we trust

Rivers will be fine for certain situations. He can put the ball on the floor and attack. That's what the 2nd unit can use. His shot was pretty good from beyond the arc last year. If he is pressing because he's on a 1-year deal on wants to prove himself, he's going to fail. Might as well use Meeks when he returns. If he wants to blend in with the team and take what the defense gives him. Play the combo guard role, he'll help the team. Whether he'll be worth playing with Wall and Beal in crunch time is another story. I don't think Sato fits in with them unless he's playing point and we have off-the-ball Wall all of sudden becoming James Harden-like. Sato is not a 3-man.

Not surprising if you've been following his career, you are a victim of Battered Wizard Syndrome .

I'd rather have Rivers on the floor than Meeks
The ideal situation is that Troy Brown learns to spot up for threes over the next week.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

5576/2 = 2788 each for Beal & Wall, which is too much IMO.
In fact, over the 4 years prior to last year, Wall averaged 2859 minutes a year. That's way too much wear & tear IMO. It may have had something to do w/ his being injured last year (speculation...). In the case of Beal, he played 2977 last year & was clearly worn down the last part of the season.
IMO, 2500 - 2600 minutes is plenty for each of Wall/Beal. But... you are right that it won't happen that way. In particular, Wall has averaged over 36 minutes/game nearly every season.

Just picture the worst case scenario, that is what Scott Brooks will do.

Lucky you, you're going to get your wish.
