Well, 30 games was the over/under that I set up when we signed him...
If he comes back in mid march, that would put him at 30 games played for the season.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind him returning next season.

It's not like he's making big money.
He's getting over.

Ernie Grunfeld is the best enabler of broken, overrated, veterans who are in it not to win it.

Laugh all the way to the bank.

I would want him to come back next year. For the money, if next year we get 45 games out of him, with 25 mins and 10 pts/game, 8 rbs/game average, I would say its money well spent. If we get more production than that from him, then I'd call it a "good deal" from the Wizards perspective.

You have to factor that we will (hopefully) already have a capable center in Bryant. Assuming we play a traditional center for roughly 40 minutes a game, Bryant should already be getting 30-32 of them. We would be paying Howard $6M to play 8-10 minutes (or to play him in place of Bryant, which would be a marginal upgrade at best).

If there's any money at all to spend after resigning Sato and Bryant, I'd rather that money going toward another quality power forward (maybe another season of Jeff Green?). Porter and Brown can't play all of the forward minutes next year and we definitely want at least 1 guy who can play some smallball center.

Since the team is almost certainly not rebuilding, it'd be nice to have Green back next season - along with Sato and Bryant. I guess there's little to no chance of keeping Ariza. I don't see Howard fitting in. The team cannot afford to lose Bryant or Sato.

Well, in 2-3 weeks we'll definitely... have an indefinite update.

Even if he is technically “available”, why have him get back into game shape in “real” games? Cousins rehabbed in the G until he was ready
