Re: Buck now gone?
I doubt it.
Buckhantz is the epitome of a "local (DMV) broadcaster".
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Re: Buck now gone?
Two with local ties are in the mix: Dave Feldman and Dan Hellie. I guess it's all but official. Get the dinosaurs out and go with a younger crew. That will get more viewers. Not the fact that the team is a shi-t show and so is it's owner and son.
WASHINGTON — NBC Sports Washington is preparing to interview multiple candidates for its open play-by-play job calling Wizards games.
Dan Hellie of NFL Network and Dave Feldman of NBC Sports Bay Area are scheduled to interview by the end of this month, sources tell The Athletic. There are currently 12 total candidates in contention for the gig, according to a source with knowledge of the search. Both of the known candidates already have ties to D.C.
Hellie, who went to Magruder High School in Derwood, Md., worked at WRC, the NBC affiliate in Washington, from 2006 to 2013. He won two Emmys and worked his way up to sports director during those seven years. He is now a co-anchor of NFL Total Access on NFL Network.
Feldman is also a former local anchor, working previously at WTTG, Washington’s FOX affiliate, for a dozen years before moving to California. His work with NBC Sports Bay Area includes coverage of NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL. He was formerly the host of San Francisco 49ers postgame coverage as well as SportsNet Central, a daily show that covers various major leagues.
The timeline for a final decision on who will be in the Wizards’ booth next year remains in flux. Whoever gets the job will slide in next to current Wizards in-game analysts Kara Lawson and Drew Gooden.
Steve Buckhantz has been the Wizards’ play-by-play broadcaster for the previous 22 years, but NBC Sports Washington did not pick up an option on his contract for the 2019-20 NBA season. The exercise date for the option was March 1. The network has not stated at any point during this process that it is definitively moving on from Buckhantz.

Any chance at all they could bring back Mel Proctor? Tim Connelly + Zion + Proctor = dream off-season.

I don't know why they didn't pick up Buckhantz's option. Perhaps Ted is looking for reasons why fan interest in broadcasts is low? He should try the mirror; that's where the answer is. There & nowhere else.

Lol, when they needed a head coach, they interviewed 1 (very mediocre) candidate and gave him the job while dramatically over-paying him. When they need a play-by-lay guy, they need to go through at least 12 candidates while leaving the current guy in limbo. Actually, this is a better way to do it (except for leaving Buck in limbo), but there's no getting over why they f'd up the coach hiring. Could it be that... EG was completely in charge of the coach hiring - while Leonsis is running the tv hire process? That would explain the dramatically different styles.

If Ted had any balls he would hire Louis CK and Bill Burr

Well, if they end up giving Connelly the job without an interview, I would say Leonsis is no better....
