Given the circumstances Sheppard's has done a solid job, but some of those 2nd rounders he moved are going to come back to haunt the team when Beal walks this coming summer and the Wizards end up starting from scratch.

I think that's a bit of reach. Maybe some regret, but second rounders are a crap shoot and you can always buy them. Now if we were talking about round oners, I'd wholeheartedly agree. Plus if we start a rebuild, we'd be able to almost assuredly recoup those picks and more.

FWIW, most of those picks we traded were not our own. So if we lose Beal and suck, those picks don't get better.

And I think of the pick given to SA for Hutch as more a cost of the Troy Brown for Gafford trade. We likely had to take on Hutch to make that trade, and now was the time to pay for it.

I would guess the money they save from the luxury tax would allow them to buy a 2nd round pick in the future.

Definitely a yacht for Zach. He's worked hard all his life though, he deserves it...

The Westy trade was a good start… but let’s see what he does with the flexibility/assets

I missed the part where Tommy tore the Wizards down. Instead, he took an awful contract, and at almost no cost to the Wizards, he turned it into potentially decent players in just 2 seasons. Additionally, he is adding players to get excited about (gafford, dinwiddie, etc).
Viva le tank! At this pace, it will never end.

On top of that if we lose Beal we’re going to receive a boatload of picks, plus a good player or two.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.
