Celtics wouldn't give Bass away. I think it would be a perfect fit. Bass has a lot of playoff experience, a solid pro, a professional who keeps his mouth shut and plays hard. Gone through the battles with Pierce. Celtics would have to get something in return or Ainge wouldn't bother.

I like Bass a lot and would love him on the Wiz.

I know a bit less about Humph. It seems like he wasn't getting a ton of run last year. How do you rate him? Strengths? Weaknesses? Shooting range? Defending?

You guys will like Humps. He played very well for the Celtics last year. He can play 4 or 5 but is mainly a power forward. Tough, solid rebounder, plays hard, good teammate and can hit the mid range shot. Good pickup for you guys especially at that price. Solid job!

Thanks... how is he on D? Seems like he's a decent one on one defender... does he protect the rim at all?

He is pretty good on defense, good pick and roll, hard fouls and good position defender. Not a leaper or shot blocker.

Guess this would have to be the theme for the offseason:

Oh my...you went there...
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

The Wizards fan in me is just waiting for the devastating Wall injury to happen. Good things don't happen to the Wizards. If we actually get a good team, our bad luck will make sure we never get to enjoy it.

A+ offseason. I have a constant smile upon my face. I can genuinely say that I have never looked forward to a forthcoming season the way i am looking forward to this one. I am more excited that the Arenas days. We're building a winner AND we are planning for the future.

This is how its done people.

Ernie Grunfeld has arrived.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

They're not trading Nene. Clearly, their plan is to stay good through 2016 by using veteran rentals and then go after Durant (or Horford) in 2016 to place alongside Wall, Beal and Gortat.

Nene and his contract fit perfectly into this plan.

With a big long-term deal for Gortat, there really are only about 15 mpg. Gooden played almost that many minutes per game at Center at the end of the season - 18mpg(75% of his minutes at Center). Nene also played about 50% of his minutes at Center. Humphries can play Center also, so with everyone healthy there is plenty of depth at Center. Having said that if some young player shows promise, like Birch, it would be a good addition. All the players mentioned are 29 or older.

The big need for depth is a 3rd PG - combo guard. Rice can back-up SG, and Miller could even play there a little. Beal is really the only guard who is a consistent 3 point threat, so adding another shooter in the back-court would be good.

Since we're in need of a 3rd PG, bringing back Garrett Temple makes the most sense to me.

Agreed. A backcourt shooter would be perfect. Furthermore, since both our PG's are tall and capable of guarding 2's, we could probably find a better overall player if we look at undersized guys. There are some really good 6-2 shooting guards out there who just can't find minutes because they have matchup problems defensively. That wouldn't be a problem on our team.

We need the next BJ Armstrong/Craig Hodges/Steve Kerr/Ben Gordon. Either that or the next Pierre Jackson/Isaiah Thomas/Michael Adams

I think he has had a very strong offseason but I can't give him an A+. Selling 46 and extending a QO to Serpahin don't get you an A+

The cynical Wizards fan in me says Ariza was last season's most effective Wizard. He was the best defender. He was let go and Gortat was very well compensated. Pierce is older, and increased injury risk plus inability to keep up with SF are valid concerns. Another concern I have is will Wittman play veterans too many minutes? Also, the Wizards still need a quick combo guard and they could use a shotblocker with quickness and length.

As good as this offseason has gone I don't know if this past season's good playoff chemistry can be duplicated. How much has the team improved if at all? Is there any guarantee that Wittman won't just play Pierce too many minutes, while Porter and Rice sit on the bench?

Because I think Ariza should have been resigned I give this offseason just a B+ and not an A. Gortat was resigned and both Pierce and Humphries are solid additions who signed excellent Wizards contracts.
