On Beal and Wall, I'm no doctor but I would sit both if there is a chance that there could be more damage if hit again. I agree that Beal is the most worrisome even though Wall's hand purportedly is in worse shape. Playing on a sore ankle can lead Beal to overcompensate, which can lead to injuries to other parts of the lower body. I don't see the same risk for the wrist. We stole Game 1 and now have home court advantage...I wouldn't jeopardize the rest of the round to get greedy and get both games in Atlanta.
Regarding Nene, I have no problem starting him but I would put him on a VERY short leash. Aside for one game against Toronto, the Wizards have pretty much started every single playoff game in a hole because of Nene and Gortat playing together. Things haven't improved until one of them has been taken out.
Go Wiz!
80s, what I hope NOT TO SEE is strap it up and go, heavy minutes for both Wall and Beal.
Doc Rivers looks like a genius after resting Chris Paul. 80s, if Randy Wittman rested Beal because of concern over his ankle I would call it a good move. OTOH, Beal is 22 and I might see how he's running early. I would consider starting him but pulling him EARLY just to decrease the chance of fatigue injury.
The problem with that strategy is guys cool off not playing. They need stretching and to stay warm while they're out IF they are going to be reinserted.
I would play them if they say they can go, but monitor their minutes. The trainers/physio folks would be working HARD all game to keep those guys ready to go...
As for the worst case, it would be real dumb to play them 43 minutes only to see them go down hurt late in the game.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.
