Re: Bradley Beal - Part IV
I saw Miami might trade for him in the offseason. Not sure who they would trade. Herro, from afar, seems pretty unlikable. I'm extremely judgmental though so what do I know.
Boston - that ship has sailed, unless they flame out in the postseason.
Sacramento, maybe, if Beal can be sold on going there?
New Orleans to join McCollum? I'd still trade for Zion and hope than stick with Beal's 50 mil, Ish Smith or whoever, and despair.

Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Yeah, I saw that about Miami, but... I don't know how Miami could swing any trade that makes sense within the salary cap. I can't see Herro, because he'll still be on his rookie deal, and they don't have a big filler contract to make it work. It'd basically have to be for Lowry and Duncan Robinson - but those players are more valuable to Miami than they would be to Washington. I think most of the ships have sailed - as you alluded to. I've resigned to the belief that Beal's here for the long haul.

If Beal has no trade options left, and he played like garbage this year, why again is there a rush to pay him $250 mil?

A competent front office will only offer a new contract at a discount. I’d say $200mm for 5 years maximum, take it or leave it. But the word “competent” does not apply to Terd &co.

Sounds like Beal is saying we need to draft Dyson Daniels and sign Otto with the MLE

Honestly, I hope so.
Here is a 3 way trade I thought that may happen if the rumors about Miami are true.
Wiz gets Herro, Westbrook and a Lakers future 1st
Lakers get Lowry
Heat get Beal.
Then we get lucky with ping pong balls and draft Ivey.
Westbrook/Ivey
Herro/Kispert
KCP/Deni
Kuzma/Rui
Porzinga/Gafford
Ivey replaces Westbrook at season end and we have our new star back court of the future

If you listen to the podcast he says he wants to play in June. And he says “why not here?! Why not in DC?”

Sixers offer Harris + Thybulle + Milton + Korkmaz + every unprotected pick we may have for Beal and KCP

I wouldn't take that trade. Swap out thybulle for maxy and send Harris to a third team for more assets then maybe ! But that's a big maybe.sixers4real wrote:Sixers offer Harris + Thybulle + Milton + Korkmaz + every unprotected pick we may have for Beal and KCP

Yeah, I think you’re right.
My initial trade proposal makes sense only if Beal asks to be traded to Philly like Harden did. Or he quits

I mean we still have a lot of leverage. Not a lot of teams where Beal would want to go can afford him.

"Every unprotected pick" equates to just the 2023 pick and the 2029 pick (assuming we wait to make the trade after the 2022 draft).
I'd rather let Beal walk. I'd rather have KCP and $45M in cap room than have:
- Thybulle with only one cheap year left
- the #27 pick in the 2023 draft
- a pick that only my grandchildren will get to see
- $90M in bad contracts

Re: Bradley Beal - Part IV
With Harden in Philly, I don't think they're a good trade partner anymore. You may want to look at middle of the pack teams ready to make a splash. Very quick unvetted suggestions:
Minnesota: D. Russell + picks for Beal.
Atlanta: Bog + Gallinari + Picks works, but why would the Wizards want Gallinari? Bog + Collins would be amazing, but would Atlanta give up two of their best five players to upgrade at one position? They have Okongwu playing well so it's possible, but unlikely.
Utah: Beal + Pick for D. Mitchell. Lateral drama-reduction trade for both teams. Utah builds around Rudy without taking a step back. Wiz get a very similar player who is a few years younger, but give up a decent pick to do it.
Denver: Murray + Filler + Picks for Beal. Denver might be tempted to avoid wasting Jokic's prime. But the picks won't be particularly good and Murray is pretty average. I don't think there's enough here to get it done.
Clippers: Um.... OK there is a weird three way that has potential. Bear with me.
LAC trade Paul George to Philly.
Philly trades Tobias Harris to Washington.
Washington trades Beal + Rui to LAC.
That salary framework appears valid. I can see why both LAC and Philly would be interested, too. The question is how many picks, or what young players with potential, could both teams funnel to Washington to balance the deal? I think Philly has to throw in Maxey and pick swaps. Clippers cupboard is bare.

If we don't jump to the top 4 in the lottery, I'd seriously contemplate Beal +10th pick for Mitchell who is locked in for 3 more years and much better than Beal IMHO.
