Rui might start next game. It'll allow Davis to come on the help, leaving Gordon in the dunker spot. I imagine that Denver is going to start playing Gordon less, and Jeff Green more minutes if Gordon can't spread the floor or be an asset offensively.

Rui stepping up AGAIN ..... 8-11 ,1-1 for 17 pts while guarding the 2 time MVP Jokic all through the 4th quarter and holding him to 2 pts after Jokic had scored 32 pts through 3 quarters.
KCP with 9-17 ,3-8 for 21 pts
These 2 are playing great basketball for their new teams.

Rui went off. Much more than a good little game. He also was effective defending Jokic in the fourth quarter.

Joking was gassed at the end.

Rui on Jokic was a fine wrinkle by Ham to get the paint clogged so AD can roam.

But I gotta think the Nuggets will make them pay either via Gordon making shots or with Jeff Green getting corner 3s.

No way do I think Rui is going to be the guy that slows Jokic down ,but he did tonight and now all the Lakers media is demanding Rui start if they're going to have a chance to beat the Nuggets.
I think this is going to be a typical Western Conference Finals shootout and theyll need Rui's pts to keep up with this Nugget offense .Rui is about ready to join the AD/Lebron attack with his own.

Where exactly didn't Jotic get slowed down or bothered at all?
The man led his team in damn near everything.
Went 34/21/14 on 12-17 and ,3-3 from three on only 5 to. Bro wasn't bothered at all. Rui did on but he didn't go off he has 17 on 8-11 with no rebounds and not steals and 1 ast it was an ok game but let's put the wizards suck at trades let blow Rui now bias away.

Rui guarded Jokic in the 4th, but Jokic didn't really try to do anything. He just deferred. It was weird. Rui is a strong dude, but he isn't strong enough to stop Jokic in the post. I don't know why Denver didn't try to get Jokic into deep post position and let him score right over Rui. I guess because he was worried about Davis rotating over.

I'm sure Malone is working on that problem now. I expect to see Denver counter that strategy somehow.

Rui also gave up an offensive rebound and layup to Jokic in the first. Rui also picked up 2 fouls guarding Jokic in the 2nd quarter when the Nuggets were in the penalty. Jokic may have flopped on the 2nd although Rui did have his hand on Jokic's back.

Just seemed like Jokic was deferring more in the 4th. Jokic had 2 assists to KCP, 1 of which was with less than 2 minutes to go, another hockey assist (I believe it was Jokic to KCP to Porter). Murray also got a layup from a Jokic pick and roll in the 4th. There were also a couple of missed shots from Jokic passes, 2 missed shots by KCP(1 was wide open), and a missed layup by Michael Porter Jr. And even one of the shots that Jokic took lead to an Aaron Gordon offensive rebound.

Nuggets need better bench play. Brown was great but Green and Braun terrible.
Nuggets too small when Jokic was out so had to bring him back too soon. Give Thomas Bryant a chance.

Just re-watched the closing minute, Jokic posted up Rui did a move to lose him and was fouled by Davis.

I'm a Rui believer, but Rui is not going to slow down Jokic. Lakers need to attack Jokic relentlessly on the defensive end and tire him out since they need him to generate offense. The Lakers best chance is to tire out Jokic by making him work on both sides of the ball.

AD was Jokic's primary defender through three quarters when the Joker obliterated the Lakers defense. Darvin Ham made a tactical adjustment to switch Rui onto Jokic and have AD guard Aaron Gordon (Denver's worst shooter) so AD could aggressively help whenever Jokic makes a move to the paint. Jokic was 0-2 in the 4th quarter after this adjustment was made. Boston employed a similar strategy in their series against Philly with Horford guarding Embiid and Rob Williams aggressively shading off of PJ Tucker.

Denver will have some counters to this but if it leads to Gordon being played off the floor than the Lakers have an advantage. Rui will likely start in game 2.

Bro comments like these clearly shows you checked the box score at the end and didn’t actually watch the game.
