Not sure why. But bringing back a dull fit goes right inline with the zombie-level thought process this organization has. Not one person was begging for this but here we are.

I'm cool with it if it means Agent Zero is welcome back in the building.

I think it's possible in time. I think if push came to shove, most Wizards fans still considered peak Gil to be the best player in the modern era of the Wiz (no arguments if you choose Wall or Beal, but even play aside, Gilbert just felt like a bigger star.) But not sure how Ted feels about it.

It would be so great to see Gilbert back in the building.

And on the broadcasts (he has more charisma in his pinkie than Drew G., or Kara L., or the entire postgame crew COMBINED).

The guy has done his time, and rehabbed his image, and — and — has made it a point to praise the team and engage with the team on social media and in the media.

He’s by far the most exciting player to play for this franchise in over four decades. Let bygones be bygones, and get this wonderful player and absolutely joyful being back where he belongs.

I watched some Zingus highlights today and I'm kinda hyped again about the season but Jansjay brought me right back down. Compleetely agree - unless they do something, it looks like somebody is going to step up and take Trez's role from last year - 'get outta my way because I'm trying to get paid.' My vote goes to Barton but it could be Kuz. Rui doesn't have the dog in him like Trez did.

I'm also interested to see how point guard plays out. Did they promise Delon Wright the starting role to get him to sign here? How will that play with WUJ, who knows Morris well?

WUJ needs to embrace his inner dog more too and reign these guys in. If Beal doesn't play defense, put his quarter billion dollar azz on the bench - that would be a good start.

I need to see more before the Wiz pull me right back into believing again.

As a Nuggets fan I would be surprised if Barton became super selfish, that has never been his problem. Barton's issue is irrational confidence. He believes he is the best player on the court, so when the team starts getting down or is down than he will start trying to take over. It usually doesn't work out, but even when he is demanding the ball he still will pass to open guys, if nobody is open though he will take bad shots. His blessing from that confidence though is how much it helps young guys on your team, he will be in their ear talking them up constantly and help them when they struggle, he believes his team can win any game. I give him a little of the credit for so many of our young guys developing over the last few years just having him pumping them up constantly when they struggled.

Morris was called Mr. Nugget and the ultimate teammate by people around the team while he was here. He was the 1st to call draft picks and new signings (including PGs), did anything the coaching staff asked of him, and was the confidant and sounding board to a lot of guys on the team, he isn't going to make waves or bitch without there being huge problems. The beauty of Morris is that he has learned to play on or off the ball, but he came up as a pick and roll guy in college, the Gleague, and off the bench with Plumlee in Denver early in his career. He would work well with your team as a starter or off the bench because of his skill.

Wright's defense may be worth starting him alongside Beal, with Beal being a good 2ndary ball handler and BArton being a good 3rd guy. Bring Morris in with Gafford and stagger Kuzma's minutes to some with Monte and I think your bench is really good and your starters can be competitive.

Great to read such positive assessments of Barton & Morris by someone who's obviously seen a lot of both guys.

I also agree that Wright is a terrific player.

But, I'm of the strong belief that Beal & those 2 guys should all play about the same number of minutes -- especially because Brad was so bad last year & because he's coming off a wrist injury.

The other problem here is to get enough minutes for Corey Kispert, who had a very promising rookie year. Not to mention Avdija whose 2d year showed a big jump & who is only 21.

Given that we then drafted a guard at #10 in the '22 draft, I'd say we have a lot of balls in the air!

Stupid Wizards would draft Kispert then Davis AND THEN" UNTRADE " CONTRACT sign Beal; while adding each of veterans Barton, Morris, and Watson.

Diminish returns. Freeze out young guys who will be traded or sold low. Beal will take a zillion shots as OVERRATED AS HE IS.

I'm not angry. I have no crystal ball. I could be incorrect but I see NO WAY THERE CANNOT BE A MINUTES CRUNCH.

I'm not picking sides in the back and forth.

Only this time it was different

Jason Smith and Andrew Nicholson is kind of sort of similar to adding Delon Watson the same year we add Monte Morris.

Where we double down on dumb is drafting Johnny Davis right after Corey Kispert. I don't see how either player can win in terms of minutes and career

And then having the audacity to give Bradley Beal the most stupid contract I have ever seen

Nope. There was NOTHING at PG.

Adding those two is a miracle considering you had to play NETO as a starter for stretches last season. Sato is gone. Ish is a 3rd PG at best and was used in the trade. Dinwiddie was shooting 26% from THE FIELD and could barely run taking side step 3s with 20 secs left on the shot clock.

I'd rather have two excellent backups/fringe starters than the collection of PGs last season.

I am saying this the wrong way . It looks like a backlog of shooting guards ...

I would never argue your against your point about needing a point guard. I hadn't really thought about it so you are right and I am wrong.

All I am saying is with Barton and bill and Davis and kissberg it just seems like way too many shooting guards when you consider that right can also play shooting guard

I'd agree and then some. I feel like synergy with our guard play is one of the areas where we could suddenly get more production than it looks like from the individual stats.

On Morris we added a game manager and locker room chemistry guy who can help the team heed the new coach and lead them in the system, feed them when they are hot, play off the ball when the ballhandler is working. If Morris can mentor Johnny Davis, guide Rui in where and how to be, and swing the ball to Kuz when he has the mismatch or is having a hot game, then the value of what we already have is increased. Value either in wins and losses or for a midseason trade.

In Wright we added a no-mistake 3 and D PG with good size, who is capable at slowing down point-of-attack ballhandlers and able to fit in next to high usage players. If his D can take pressure off Beal, maybe we see our quarter billion dollar player can work to solve his current disabilities in offensive play. Adding floor spacers around him may make him a dangerous threat to attack even if his own outside shot hasn't recovered.

In Barton we added attitude and desire and that BMore swagger we've seen in a number of players who reached the league out of those proving grounds. A dribble drive guy who isn't a ballhog, but willing to call his own number and won't shrink from the moment. We add energy and attitude that is used to team play, has been part of a team that rebuilt to a winner, and has made it a mission to encourage the guys on this team to expect to win.

Other teams may overpower this squad with talent, but I think in trying to build a team to suit the coach Tommy has at least given us a chance to see a team that plays well together. Yeah the Deni/Rui/Kuz conundrum has to shake itself out, but to me the back court makes sense on paper. If each plays to the capabilities they've shown to this point.

Me too. But I think we have better than that in Morris & Wright.

Morris has averaged more than 25 minutes a game over his career, & his overall production has been at the level of a high quality NBA point guard. He's just plain good, very good.

Delon Wright is terrific too. He doesn't shoot much, but he shoots a more than respectable average -- & he's a major plus defensively as well. A very strong player, IMO.

You know, if you guys are that optimistic about the backcourt then you really should be optimistic about the season!

We have one glaring weakness. No beast in the paint.

There is this one player: Day'Ron Sharpe

SHARPE me in the mind of Boogie Cousins before Boogie became an All-Star.

For people that just want to argue and say DS is nothing like BC ....

Primarily to put me down .....

Then i say f*** you as well :-)

Translation of the last post is I think all we really need is one dynamic front court player who happens to be young

KP is an outside in player ....we need an inside out player

I agree with this. I wish it could be Daniel Gafford, but he has been inside only, or on the bench with fouls. I liked the brief glimpse of The Landlord next to Porzingis, but really think he would need even a mid-range jumpshot that he could hit when wide open or else it is harder to make the wheel turn as easily. Still, if he had an unstoppable move that wouldn't matter, but so far lob dunk is his most useful finishing move, requiring chemistry with his PG. Westbrook was ideal for him since teams had to guard against Russ finishing inside, which left space for Gafford.

What if Vernon Carey were any good? Or if Jaime Echinique had more than he has shown. In a way it occurred to me the best version of Makur Maker looks like that guy, a player who has both inside and outside game and room to grow. Who knows.

But yeah I did get intrigued at the idea we might siphon Collins from Atlanta, but nah, he is going to get paid playing next to Tre and DeJounte, having fun making highlight reels.

Boogie Cousins ...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeMarcus_Cousins

He is a free agent and if you put him with the same contract that they gave Gill this is a 50-win team.

They won't do it because this is a white bread kind of stuck up kind of team but that's all they really need to do

Cousins and "Christopher zangus"

KP

With the "back cord" that we already have and all the billion forwards that we have would be enough to be a really tough team.
