Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
The only way I consider Adams is if we face a significant injury at receiver. Otherwise it's bad asset management. JD is spreading the ball around just fine and he already has a "focus" option at WR in McLauren (maybe the first time in year's he's been a priority target). I don't see how it helps the offense to feel some type of pressure to get Adams a certain number of targets a game.
If I wanted to go for a luxury acquisition it'd be for the defense for obvious reasons.

I have no interest in Adams either. If we are going to make a trade in season it should be for a corner or edge.

But he is a big fan of the QB...

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
I saw somewhere that the browns play the run the majority of their defensive snaps. Yet they are one of the worst teams against the run. If B Robinson and A Eckler are healthy hopefully they have big games.

Alright I take it back, Bengals are just bad. Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Historically bad defense and the offense has the yips.

Go Commies! Daniels carved them up running, apparently (I didn't see it, was at my mom's place)

It’s very early. But so far? So far he looks like ROY and MVP and the best Washington QB since … Sammy Baugh? (!!!)

Browns were playing man.defense a lot on the receivers. That meant they had to turn their backs on JD which opened up running lanes.

We are 4-1 in the driver's seat in the division.
I've Vegas would take a a first and a third for Adams and Crosby ? Do you do that trade? Knowing that we are over performing this year as we have some extra picks to burn for example the extra third.

I wouldn't. We have an extra 3rd and 6th round pick. I would shop that and see what they could get. I'd look at Amari Cooper. Browns aren't going anywhere, Cooper's in the last year of his contract. Maybe trade a 6th, and can turn into a conditional 5th rounder or something based on playing time. I have no idea what his market would look like.

I would go all in on defense now. Don't want to end up like the Bengals.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
The Commanders are 4-1, but they're not even close to the quality team pundits that monetize clicks and delusional fans would have you believe.
This is still very much a rebuilding team and all they're doing right now is peddling hope.
Win now moves is how this franchise ended up in a perpetual cycle of suck every time there was the slightest glimmer of a brighter future, but least the grown-ups are finally in charge and not some tiny fantasy football fantasy GM wanna be shyster.
Don't get me wrong, it's fun being on the winning side of 30+ point outings, but this team is not winning the division, and Jayden Daniels will not be in the conversation for MVP when this season is done.

What if Daniels just has a year like Stroud had, where there was some bumps in the road, but 23 TDs/5 INTS, 4000+ yards to end the year.
IMO, all bets are off now. I have this game as an L, but Baltimore's defense in general is struggling so it's going to be one of those games where which defense can make the plays. I have us at 8-5 by the bye week. That's already a successful season.

Oh, absolutely not. This is a ten win team and they will win the division. You can put that in the bank. I'm more concerned about what happens next year - if you've got a superbowl quality qb, how do you chart a path to the superbowl? Following the Bengal's path of going all in on offense and criminally neglecting your defense is not the way. The Bengals are sliding backwards now. The commies have an offense that is good enough to win games. Now you address the defensive side, and if you luck into a good offensive player in the later rounds of the draft fine, but your top picks should be defensive players, your top fa acquisitions need to be defensive players.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
by virtue of daniels panning out, we're already successful in my book. the record is whatever. i actually hope we lose out so we can get better draft picks.
and i don't get the urge to upgrade at WR mid-season. we need edge and secondary. the offense is humming. we just need to lock down the o-line, the defense, and the other stuff will fall into place.

Word is the first round is pretty weak this year. Not really worth tanking for anyone might as well try to win as many as possible.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
I feel confident that this is a .500 team at worst, but I'm not certain about the ceiling. Next weeks game against the Ravens will tell us a lot.
I think our offense is probably legit. There's enough on tape to be fairly confident about that now. We could have hung 40 on the Bengals easily if the starters had remained in the 4th quarter. And if you're a top 5ish offense then you're almost certainly a playoff team, even if that's a wild card slot. Those kinds of offensive numbers don't just casually happen. We've had enough mediocre to poor offensive teams to know what real offense is and what it isn't. Scheming against the Commanders is a nightmare because you have to cover every inch of the field. Usually a scrambling QB doesn't have much of a deep ball. JD5 will throw it anywhere on the field.
