Could we deal #2 to Memphis for their 1st (9) this year + 1st 2025 ?

Follow that with Kuzma to Kings for 13...

Come out with something like Ware (9), Carrington (13), Dadiet (26), + another 1st next year?

I'm definitely in favor of trading down a bit to land a 2025 FRP. I'm a little concerned that #9 is too low though. I definitely don't think Sheppard or Castle will be there. And that Memphis FRP might be pretty bad.

I'd probably do it if that MEM pick was unprotected. We'd be gambling that they have injury problems again and that the brutal Western Conference might still relegate them to 9th place and into the lottery. At #9, Holland is probably the guy I'd take. But if we drafted Holland, I'd seek to trade Kuzma because we'd have such a log jam at forward.

One of Topic Holland or Dillingham will be there at 9. I’m still not convinced that that’s a big drop off. If Memphis gave us ‘25 protected lightly as long as it doesn’t go to seconds too quickly I’d take it
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

I see no evidence whatever that this draft is "shallow."

It is certainly thin at the top. But the chance phenomena that will cause something like that are not related to anything that would yield a "shallow" draft.

For that reason, trading down from 2 is, in fact, particularly attractive this year!

Of course, if you classify Sheppard as a "must have," then take him at 2. But, that's a separate discussion.

Overall, we have the least talented roster in the NBA. Things aren't going to get better b/c top tier FAs are dying to come here.

If you want heads 5 times, be prepared to flip the coin 10 times. The more draft picks we have, the better.

I feel a level of confidence the Wizards are trading Kuzma on draft night. This new front office seems to run a tight ship and doesn't let a lot of info out about what they're doing. But despite that, there just seems to be too much smoke about Kuzma.

The team that seems have the most traction is Sacramento.

Here's a new Locked on Kings podcast discussing Vezenkov, who apparently has said he doesn't want to return to the Kings. Not sure if he wants traded, or just wants out of the NBA to return to Europe. The podcast suggests his expiring contract could be worked onto a package for Kuz.

Could the expiring contracts Vezenkov & Duarte, with picks 13 & 45 for Kuzma & 51 get a deal done?

Fun. He'd be a good fit next to Deni. Older, maybe doesn't fit the timeline, but entertaining. The anti Kuz, doesn't dribble. I don't dislike the deal given we get back a pick and move up in the 2nd round, regardless of Vezenkov. Not sure the front office agrees, they want a 2nd frp, future or otherwise.

Good to see ya piff!
I agree we need more draft picks but I have a feeling we are gonna get those. I think we may get get a loto pick from Kuz, we have 26. We might be able to get something for Poole or shamet in this draft since it's seen as shallow. I happen to like it, but I was referring to the reporting.

I see 3 really must takes in the top ten.
Sheppard, dilingham, and clingan. Now there are lots of euro dudes and tall non shooting guards that will steal some spot light from the more conventional guys.

I see Sheppard as that guy. I thing if we take Sheppard then dillingham and clingan are both targets to get if we move into the loto in other ways.

I think getting two guys like Sheppard and dillingham are good to pair together. And there are plenty of centers later in the draft that are highly draftable!

If Starr is gone, I would not be surprised to see us draft Clingan for another team in a trade.

3 way trade

Wizards get
Ben Simmons
David bertans.
#6
2025 via suns
2025 second via Philly
2027 second via port or no
2028 second round pick swap right with lac
2029 second via Dallas.

Nets get
Shamet
Grant Williams

Hornets
Kuz
Poole

Wizards: get picks and flexibility

Nets free up anton of cap room and replace Ben with two solid bench rotation caliber players. The 2025 suns pick is probably the least valuable and it makes sense to get Ben off the team so they can go free agent shopping.

The hornets can go and improve now in a draft they might not value. Kuz and Poole put that team a head of a few teams.

I would like to think that is at least somewhat realistic in a draft no one seems to like. New owners tend to go two ways. Slow and steady or all in. There isn't a super duper star available but adding two compiten starters to the team vs anothwr rookie in a draft you might not like may seem appealing. Jordan Phillips ok is only a couple weeks f seasons away from being a really good player. Kuz has been good.

I don’t see the Hornets giving up the #6 pick for two ball dominant vets. They’re rebuilding around Ball, Miller and Mark Williams, and are not in a win now situation.

That could be true! Very.
But they might not see a lot of value in #6th this year. New owners, being so bad for so long. The wolves did this strategy. It doesn't always work but sometimes it does. I can see them just not wanting to be a bottom feeder anynore and not wanting another project in a draft many thing don't have any stars.

A lot of focus on trades has been on Kuzma. What about Tyus Jones? Anyone think we could pull a draft day S&T with Jones?

Maybe something like Jones + 51 for a late 1st or even an early 2nd?

I don’t think Tyus can be S&T until the new league year starts

Correct. I believe there might be some times a loop hole but mostly Jones can't get us a pick this year. I less it's later for a player that team picked which doesn't happen.

Agreed. My hope is that he could get us back a young asset or two. Kind of like picking up a couple of 2nd picks if you will.

Nov 2 game in Mexico City. Headlined by Kuz, Bilal, and Poole.

Worth reading into?

There are sure a lot of teams trying to trade into the lottery in this “weak” draft. Also, there seems to be a lot of interest in getting Clingan, but not for Sarr…not that a team would not snag him, but the buzz is around Clingan.

Saw it. Hope it does not mean Kuz will not be traded :banghead:

This front office (or is it Ted?) appear to like Kuz’s marketability very much…

If SAC offers #13 in this draft, take it. I rather take a chance on Collier, Carrington or Carter than keep Kuz and his inefficient brand of basketball…
