Give Mark Turgeon 3-5 years and I bet you the Terps will be back in a Final Four as well. Turgeon was winning 22+ games at Texas A&M. Now, Turgs and Bino Ranson are recruiting the best of the best. It is only a matter of time that the talent and the coaching meld together into one of the top programs.

Fear the Turtle!

Wizardspride, thanks for the update. Coach Turgeon IMO is wise to go after this Peters kid, because you cannot count on the Harrison twins. Not when Kentucky steps up and offers them scholarships. It will be nice if it happens, but I think they'll do what all kids who want to go to the NBA do.

Regardless, I am really happy with this coach and with the new assistants on the football side. Kevin Anderson is getting it done!

Stanford to name Maryland's Kevin Anderson as new AD, sources say

Stanford will name Maryland's Kevin Anderson as its athletic director assuming the two sides can agree on contract terms, sources told The Chronicle Monday.

Anderson, a former Stanford athletic fund raiser, has been athletic director at Maryland since 2010. He inherited a financial mess from his predecessor, Debbie Yow, who became AD at North Carolina State, and recently had to cut seven varsity sports.

A source close to the Maryland athletic program said Stanford officials and Anderson "have been talking salary for about a week now."

He would replace Bob Bowlsby, who left to become commissioner of the Big 12 Conference. Anderson, 57, would put Stanford in the rare position of having African Americans as athletic director, head football coach and head basketball coach.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Reportedly KA actually hasn't taken the Stanford job:

Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson said he is not talking to Stanford about becoming the AD there.

"I am not in discussions nor have I been with Stanford University regarding their open athletic director position as I am committed to being the director of athletics at the University of Maryland," Anderson said in a written statement. "My focus and energy are committed to working to enhance the student-athlete experience and the competitive and financial success at the University of Maryland. We have just begun the transformation of the athletic department and I look forward to seeing this through."

The San Francisco Chronicle said Stanford was to name Anderson as athletic director "assuming the two sides can agree on……

This reminds me of when Sean Miller said he had not accepted the Arizona basketball HC position.

Never seen it but I hear Stanford is a beautiful campus. If we are talking about athletics than UMCP is in a better position to accomplish more.

Maybe so but Stanford has a MUCH bigger budget to work with...as well big-time donors.

WR Taivon Jacobs (Suitland) is down to a final three of ‪#Maryland‬, ‪#WestVirginia‬ and ‪#OhioState‬. He plans to make his decision tomorrow.

Maryland has Diggs and a host of other fast receivers and DBs. They have recruited a lot of linebackers, too. What they really need are quality lineman. Good riddance to Jacobs.

http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/2 ... ll-preview

Receiver Stefon Diggs. A late signee, Diggs spurned offers from basically every school in the country to stay at home and go to UM with two of his high school teammates (Brown and offensive lineman Mike Madaras). IF he is indeed the five-star receiver Rivals claims, and if he begins to reach his potential relatively quickly (you never know how long it's going to take), then he could spearhead the progress of what really is, on paper, an interesting group of young skill position players. And he is not alone in the receiving corps. Fellow freshman Levern Jacobs is an interesting prospect, plus seniors Kevin Dorsey and Kerry Boykins, each former four-star recruits, combined to average a decent 7.8 yards per target last year despite quarterback issues. Tight end Matt Furstenburg (348 yards, 6.8 per target, 61 percent catch rate) is a decent possession option who could be much more prevalent in Locksley's offense

WR @D1_Bound

Jacobs was torn between OSU and Maryland. Sounds like relationship with @CoachZachSmith made the difference.

Fwiw, folks who cover Kentucky basketball believe that Maryland leads for the Harrison twins.

Key factors include the family angle, Bino Ranson and Shaq Cleare and the fact that Papa Harrison loves Maryland.

I'm probably nitpicking, but Aaron has JR Smith-esque shot selection.
