For Henson, Sova and the #15 just for the #3? Because I don't want to give up Ariza personally.
The #15 doesn't do much for me. No Adams Olynyk or Len on board then. If Shabazz is available I'd say yes, if not then no.

I want to keep the third pick as well. Are third pick for a over paid stretch 4? When we could just draft Bennett or Porter who can fill needs for us as well.

Ersan Ilyasova isn't a bad player, but I wouldn't trade the third pick in this draft for him. Plus the Wizards have to be close to the luxury tax seeing as they have Nene, Okafor, and Ariza all under large contracts and Ilyasova's contract could send them into tax territory. I would expect the Wizards stand pat since there is a good chance they get Otto Porter Jr. and he fits well with the pieces they currently have at a much cheaper price.

Re: Official 2013 Draft Thread - Part VI
Olynyk and adams could still be on the board.
I would do the trade only if its.
Ersan, Henson, #15 for Ariza, Jan, and chris and #3 maybe keep ariza if the cap work or if he opts out and we have to room to absorb the cap.
I don't really like Ersan all that much, but i would do that deal, We can still get a good player at 15, and if Henson was in this draft he would be a top ten pick.
But if the #15 or Henson is not involved i don't want that trade at all. lets hope its the bucks asking for the 3 and not E.G. trying to make a desperate and stupid play off push.

Ugh. I hate trade discussion. So pointless, so boring -- none of you guys has any idea what you are talking about, clearly. Can we go back to blowing smoke out our butts about the draft? It's at least interesting.

Wow, not even sending Ariza there? And no 1st in 2014, protected or not? What a scenario.
Okafor/Nene/(Adams)
Ilyasova/Nene/Booker
Henson/Webster
Beal/Temple
Wall/Price/(Wolters)
Trade Seraphin and the late 2nd for some backcourt/wing depth.
Maybe you can pull off a trade like that. EG can't.

I never listen to those kinds of quotes. It's very rare a former coach ever trashes one of his players on the way out. The only instance I distinctly remember is when Paterno, and the molester scum bag talked up Brown over Arrington going into the '00 draft. Basically saying Brown is just more of a coachable player, and as a result, should be a better pro. Something along those lines.
I am only interested for the most part on what scouts say, and what coaches say behind closed doors when it isn't for public (marketing) consumption. Recruits would not look kindly upon a coach who trashes a former player before the biggest day of their life to that point (draft day) when choosing a school, so it's expected that a coach would rave about one of their own.

It is always amusing to watch people pretend like they KNOW how a draft prospect will turn out.
I do know for a fact that Ersan averaged 17/9 per 36 last year in the NBA, shooting 44% from 3. That kind of production definitely deserves some consideration.

Exactly. We get an outstanding PF (on a long and reasonable contract) in his prime and their 15th for 3 and filler. What's not to like.
Edit - We dump Singleton and Vesely and Sova can also play SF in stretches. This would allow Nene to come off the bench to relieve C or PF where he should be able to initiate offence while Wall is on the bench (as someone else here has already explained) and feast upon the second string of the opposing team.

Re: Official 2013 Draft Thread - Part VI
If it is Ersan AND Henson then it is fine so long as Porter and Noel are gone. Ersan still hasn't played more then 30 mins a game in a season. He is a very good player, but he is a role player. He's got good rebounding instincts but he isn't a superior defender I imagine he'd have a tough time playing high minutes against the likes of Monroe, bosh, Thomspon, Green, Horford etc... I don't think you give up the number 3 for a role player, albeit he is a good one. On top of that we don't get any players outside of him that are are really worth a damn back. Luc is limited and defensive "specialist." If you want a guy that exudes massive effort defensively, call up a D leauger. Udoh is awful. So what is the incentive...Ersan alone? And he 15. I trust Ernie's ability to make a no brainer in drafting either Porter/Noel or Bennett...I don't trust Ernie's judgment at picking a player at the # 15 spot.

I like Porter's game. Think he's going to be a solid pro.
But I feel for a bit sorry for you guys also.
Cause if this was the 2014 draft. You would be getting Julius Randle or Jabari Parker.
Either of those guys would be PERFECT next to Wall and Beal.
I think you make the playoffs next year. But again...Getting a top player from the 2014 draft could *potentially* make the Wiz a force.

Wizards in the perfect situation we could either draft porter or Bennett. But **** Ernie going to screw us over again i got a bad feeling about draft day. Ernie is going to make a silly trade we will regret in the future like always.

The center spot is the team's defensive anchor, the last place you want to put a weak defensive player. We've already seen how that story goes with McGee/Blatche.
Neither of them will be playing center. Both Zeller, and Olynyk are viewed by scouts and GM's collectively as 4's. Nobody anticipates them ever playing serious minutes at the 5. That's seen as non-viable, not that I want either of them anyway (though a trade down for Zeller might be interesting, pending the booty).

Doesn't bother me at all, I've been both wrong plenty of times, and both right plenty of times. I love to read their write ups, but I don't view their opinions as definitive or predictive of anything anymoreso than something Zonker, Nate, yourself or doclinkin etc might say. Lots and lots of great posters w/great arguments in these threads, and threads going back to when I first started reading here in '06/'07.

My biggest concern with him is his standing reach. I fear that if he has a reach only in the 8'-9" range or less, then there's no chance he'll even be an average defender. And I don't like bigs who are below average defenders. So, unless I hear more about his standing reach, I've got him below Porter on my draft board. Even if he pans out to be an above-average offensive player, his below-average D is going to hold him back from ever being a top tier starter. Porter at least has a chance of being a high quality two way player.
I don't hate him though. If Porter is gone, I won't be upset if we go ahead and take Bennett.

Absolutely, I wouldn't I'm not even sure I'd do Ilyasova & Henson for Ernie's Kids but at least I'd consider it. Especially if Porter is off the board.
Not sure if serious. Are you saying you wouldn't trade Ernie's Kids straight up for Ilyasova and Henson? That makes no sense.
Maybe you are saying you wouldn't trade the #3 plus Ernie's kids as filler for Ilyasova and Henson. I disagree, but I at least cede that your position is defensible.
It doesn't really matter. I'm certain Henson isn't included.
I am, too, nate.
Henson is much farther along than Sanders was at 22.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.
