Maybe something like a one-game play-in between the 8th and 9th finishers in each conference? So, maybe the Wizards were just ahead of their time in their mad quest for 9th.

I'm sorry Westbrook got hurt but I wasn't looking forward to OKC/MIA in the finals again.

I would rather see the Spurs, but I don't think they're healthy enough.

My bet on the Spurs to win the west is looking like it could be a winner.

Cloppers could be their only competition.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Splitter is out 10 days with an ankle injury. Diaw should be back soon himself. Plus this guy is playing great and trolling Dwight, a guy he's 10 years older than.

Yes, a one-game contest between 8 and 9. Or, at most, a 4-team single elimination tournament between 8, 9, 10 and 11. They could play back-to-back starting the day after the season ends. After the tournament ends and the 8th seed is named, they take one day off and the playoffs begin. The other seeds would get a 3-day rest, which is enough to get healthy, but no so much that they lose their rhythm.

I like this idea. I have a twist. What if it only happens if the 8th seed is .500 or less.

I mean the 8th seed did have the 8th best record. They should be rewarded for that and not have to face all those other teams. But, if they are 8th seed and haven't really measured up in general, I have no problem putting them in a single game elimination tournament that at a min puts them against the 9th team. But it would be more fun if it was opened up to 8, 9, 10, 11.

This would also give the rest of the other teams a few days of rest before the playoffs starts.

LAC vs MEM is a good series.

You want to fix the playoffs, just go back to the best of 5 format in the first round.

It would be awesome if John could run a pick and roll with a guy like M. Gasol. Marc is probably my favorite non-wizard in the NBA. Love the fact the Memphis home crowd chants "flopper" when CP3 and Griffin get their bobble-head on.

This is why I'm rooting for Memphis. They're so good defensively and I love the Gasol Zbo tandem. If they had a couple shooters and a backup center they could go to the finals IMO. And they always play Miami tough.

But for now I can't wait till Game 5

Ed Davis needs to man up, in w.e minutes he gets, he gets abused in the paint.

I think that would be a good goal for him to reach.

Same height. Len needs to pack on some more weight though but there is only like 10 lbs difference.

Marc entered the league at 23.

Len is only 19

Len Might have a chance to be a better rebounder than Marc, but I have my doubts he'll develop into the anchor on D that Gasol is, or the passer.

I also find it funny that I want Seraphin to do nothing but watch tape of Z-Bo's game. I doubt he'll become the beast that Z-bo is in the paint, but he needs to at least **** try. He has the same build, except with some hops.

Weren't there a lot of Shumpert haters on the board? Shumpert is playing-well for a 17th pick rookie.

Legit playoff caliber player.

That Boston vs NY game was fun to watch.

Man. PP is amazing. 35 years old playing SF and he is still a beast. First ballet HOF. What a career. I get the sense he can keep this up another 2-3 years.

Amen to that. I was almost hoping for a best 2 out of 3 format. In all but one or two series its been glaringly clear who is going to win.

If anyone missed Mark Jackson's wife sing the national anthem tonight, you missed quite possibly the worst rendition ever.

Tough year for the Lakers with all those injuries. 100M plus cap penalties for a first round sweep.
And their inspirational owner is now gone. And Kobe with an Achilles injury.

Should be interesting to see what they do.

Kobes contract is just killer. Nash at 39 making and he has two more years on his contract at 9M ?

Just to many big contracts on that team.

vs

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/san_antonio.htm

Tony Parker signed on a flat 12.5 for 3 years is a nice deal.
Tim Duncan at 9-10M .... wow.
Watch Manu sign for something reasonable.

Such a well run organization. The players like it so much they negotiate deals that allow them to keep it going.

Lots of egos in Los Angeles. The Lakers could have set themselves up a lot better in 2010, their last finals run, when Pau and Kobe signed extensions till 2014. Sure, they got the 2nd of back to back championships at the time but man, they sure didn't think about that luxury tax and got pretty cocky.

They also are paying Artest what Ariza is making. Ariza is like 7 years younger, Laker fans still are haunted by that departure since Ariza represents what they need... athletic wings who can defend on the perimeter and get out on the break.

Lakers are already over the luxury tax without a Howard max deal. With it, they are at $100 million salary again. And instead of paying $30 million or so in luxury tax, they going to pay $80 million next year. I don't know who will trade for Pau's $19 million expiring. They may amnesty him which would be a bargain for any team with cap space to bid on him. The other two candidates for amnesty are Kobe and MWP... with MWP being one hundred times more likely.

I don't think Howard is a max player at this point. Reggie Miller kind of hit on the nail on TNT tonight.

The Spurs are great. Pop and Duncan are tied at the hip. Thats loyalty right there. I hope they go to the finals because if they get healthy, I'm sure they can challenge Miami.

There should be no reason that the Warriors without Lee are outrebounding the Nuggets. Mark Jackson is outcoaching George Karl. I mean, Wilson Chandler at the 5 against Bogut at times?
