The Myck is a very entertaining point guard. I really like his potential - though he's still got to improve his jump shot and his strength. Count me in on Burke, because they can't go wrong picking the BPA, and I think there's a very good chance that's what he'll be.

Do it if you can, but I think you'd need a mask and a gun to pull off anything like that.

I would not want to pick Len even if we pick 10-11. Given his size it is pretty lame that he only gets 2 blocks per game. Shelden Williams had a standing reach of only 8'8" and still blocked 4 shots a game in college.

Strength and motor are major issues for big men and Len doesn't seem to have either.

At 10 Wizards look to have guys like Len, Olynyk, Gobert, Burke, Robinson, Porter to choose from.

If Porter IS there and Ernie passes him I will be highly upset. Porter is the choice if there IMO.

Beyond him... Len is a strong possibility. I do like Olynyk. Yes he's 2 years older, but he's still younger than Withey and Dieng. To me, after Porter, Robinson may be the hardest to pass up, he could be the longterm answer for us at SF. A Wall, Beal, Burke backcourt would be sweet as well.

I like the 10 spot for us though. I don't see a trade down. I'd be happiest with a Porter/Muscala draft. I could also deal with a Len or Olynyk and Erick Green draft. A Burke/McDermott draft wouldn't be bad either.

Alot still has to shake out though... where are we picking after the lottery, and who declares. Is Ariza opting out and are we retaining Webster? Are we keeping Price? Will Ernie make some kind of a trade?

For example if Ariza opts out, getting Porter becomes more important, maybe to the point of facilitating a trade up. Or perhaps a stronger look at Robinson if he's in the draft. Maybe we take Burke and let Price walk?

And then we have the elephant in the room, which is the question of what do we do with Vesely?????

He probably is going to be considered by some as a top 10 pick, and he has tweener issues. Sounds a lot like Vesely to me. He's a younger prospect who's probably going to grow into the PF spot and won't be ready for the physicality of the NBA. And of course, his shooting percentages stink.

Of the international prospects, I'd be more interested in Sergey Karasev and his 49% 3-point shooting.

Really though I have no desire for any international picks, including Gobert.
Also, I have no interest in Pelle.

It's kind of funny even at 10 no one wants Plumlee.

How come? Is it because you've scouted and formed an opinion on each of the international prospects, or do you just view drafting players who didn't play high school or college in America as risky? The latter -- even given our team's experience with Pecherov, Vesely, Veermenko, Ramos, etc -- seems silly when you consider names like Nowitzki, Gasol, Gasol, Parker, Ginobili, Splitter, Diaw, Nene, Rubio, Batum, Sefolosha, Pekovic, Kirilenko, Gallinari, Scola, Kanter, Shved, Asik, Varejao, Ilyasova, etc. To name a few.

Yeah, Splitter is really good. I think SA is going to hang onto him for the future. I also think Minnesota will probably hang on to DW. There isn't a lot of incentive for them to trade him right now. Probably won't be until his contract year unless they get a great offer.

Just personal preference. Normally I'd agree, but with Ernie missing so disasterously on the Vesely pick, they just can't afford the risk this time around IMO. It's a shame because I understand it removes some possible prospects for us. I just think we need more of a sure thing right now. At least with our 1st rounder. And it is my concern with Len, even after getting his Maryland experience, which was an important longterm benefit for him even if it wasn't very successful.

I'm just really hoping Porter is there!!

I'd probably take him over Olynyk. But I'd take Len over Plumlee. I think Plumlee will have a solid career as an NBA banger. But the upside just doesn't seem that great. Seems like he could be an acceptable replacement for Okafor though, and probably play as early as the season Okafor leaves.

No offense, but I think that's myopic. That's the same type of thinking that allows you to pas son Steph Curry because you already have Gilbert Arenas. Dig in to why the other international picks failed. Figure out how to fix your evaluative methodology. Don't pass on a good player because he bares some similarity to bad players.

63% from the field, 7REB, 1 block and 18PPG He is being more underrated than Vucevic was bac in 2011 and Olynyk is, IMO, better than Vucevic was. I think he has the skills to come in and start! I feel he is more of a PF than a center but we need bigs for the future and i would hate to pass up on some one who could be compared to Dirk some day.
But would any one consider using our second 2ed round pick on Sherwood Brown from FGCU?
From the stats, he is an ok shooter, not bad from 3 range, great rebounder for his position and a good defender.
Thing is he is turnover prone and is kind of bad from the FT line.
Thoughts?

I like Olynyk in the 10-12 range... but I LOVED Vucevic where we picked in '11. Vucevic is a better athlete first of all. But the main difference IMO was Vucevic in college was an elite and highly productive rebounder. Both have similar offensive skills, but with Vucevic that was secondary to me. He was an excellent rebounder first and foremost, with nice shooting and complimentary offensive skills. But his rebounding was the sure skill that was going to transfer to the next level and what made him a no-brainer draft pick in my eyes.

Olynyk isn't as strong or athletic and doesn't have the fundamentals Vucevic had. But he does have some nice skills for a 7-footer, and I wouldn't mind at all if he's our pick depending on who's still available. I do have him rated behind Zeller and Len although not by much.

Does anyone still think wizards can still get a quality player around 10-12 range?

Sure. Good players are ALWAYS found later in the draft. Just need to do a good job scouting and evaluating.

I don't have much faith in the current front office finding a quality player in that 10-12 range. I'm just sorta hoping they get lucky.

Nope, though I'm sure most other teams could.

Perhaps. Much of this is a medical decision. Nene has been playing hurt all season. If this is a permanent condition, then, yes, Okafor is probably the better player to have going forward. But if the docs think Nene can recover once he actually gets some rest, then I'd prefer Nene.

Nene, when healthy, is definitely a better and more versatile player than Okafor. He also provides decision-making and offensive-creation that are much harder to replace. There are only 8-10 bigs in the league through whom you can run an offense. Okafor's grunt work, although valuable, is comparatively easy to find. You see guys like that turn up every year (Larry Sanders, Omar Asik, etc.) who were acquired relatively late in the draft. Guys like Dieng, Adams and Withey could probably fill his role after a year of grooming. They probably won't be as good right away, but they could be close.

Nailed it. Gotta look at the total package and total picture.

Nene F'd up last off season but I get that he wanted to play in the Olympics.

No excuses this off season. He needs to totally heal up and then get into some excellent condition so he is ready to rock the house next year.

I want to see at least an 8 inch vertical from him. This 4 inch vertical crap isn't getting it done.

Pierre Jackson vs Bryce Cotton has been a great head-to-head of two PGs who have NBA talent.

Jackson goes about 5'8" but he is an above-the-rim finisher. He reminds me of Nate Robinson, who is his idol per his school bio page.

Cotton reminds me of Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (Chris Jackson). He is a very smooth, explosive scorer who can score just about any way. Pull ups, floaters, gets to the rim in many ways.

before it said and done, steven adams will be hanging from everyones lips. He will be picked by the wizards if he slips to 9. Highly unlikely. Steven Adams is the best bigman n this draft and he would be the second best bigman on this team day one. Better than booker, vesely, seraphin, and okafor, outstanding bbiq, excellent and establishing deep post position, strong, and coordinated and athletic. Blue chipper all the way.

Just read great article in the latest SI on Burke, who is their player of the year.

I'd love to get this guy. Not sure how he fits, but he's got the mentality we need. I think after Porter he may be my next favorite choice. If we are picking around 10 & Porter is gone, I'd have no problem taking Burke there.

His stats say he is 5-10 not 5-8
