gortat....

Ouch! That's pretty bad.

He was pretty bad last year too, but not this bad:

Mike Muscala 6th in the NBA - ahead of Whitehead? He must have improved dramatically.

Whiteside destroys the wiz, but I've heard that his defense isn't as good as the eye test says it is

Well, it's impossible not to notice that he changes so many shots - to the point that I trust my eyes on this one.

Yep.. that stuff was always hogwash to me. Whiteside is an elite defender period. This Wiz team would win 50+ games if we had Whiteside in the paint

The reason why his on/off numbers were negative in the past is because when Whiteside was off the floor, Miami would run Bosh at the 5 (who was obviously an elite defensive presence himself)

Pay your beals....or its lights out!!!
Bron, Bosh, Wade is like Mike, Hakeem, barkley...3 top 5 picks from same draft
mike, hakeem and Barkley on the same team!!!!

Have to agree with this, just watch this game for proof, specifically the fourth quarter. Wall was slicing and dicing through the lane, so was Beal. Whiteside returned to the court and anchored the middle, the next Wall drive he literally stopped in his tracks and retreated when Whiteside collapsed into the middle. That kind of stuff doesnt make the stats sheets but that is what you want from your centre.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

gortat....

That's pretty bad! No big man should be allowing that shooting percentage. I guess the question is, are we ready to sell high and tank for 1 year? If so, trade Gortat and Morris, then package the bench trash/bench mob for Wes Matthews...Smith+Nicholson+Burke + 2nd rounder OR Morris+Nicholson+Burke.

pretty obvious why our defense is so bad and why our guys fill obligated to help on drives, gortats got the worst opposing fg% at the rim clocking in at 57.4%

we need a new rim protector one way or another

thanks alot mahinmi, should of signed bismack :banghead:

It just went to 58% after last night  . He just passed Jusuf Nurkic as the 3rd worst rim protector in the league (all players playing 20+ mpg).

Gortat hasn't looked so different to my eyes that I would have suspected such a number, but admittedly I've grown tired of watching this product and have only seen a few games in their entirety this year, so others can speak better about his degradation defensively as far as the eye test.

Regarding whiteside:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/whiteha01/on-off/2017

Defensive is remarkably better with him off the court. Hey, doesn't match the eyetest with me either, but just to lend something to what I said earlier. I'm playing devils advocate here.

Sixers fan in peace here...it seems you guys are looking for a new starting center (preferably defensive)? Seems like Noel would be a great fit with Wall/Porter. Not sure what everyone's opinion on Beal is but I'd love to have him in Philly with Simmons/Embiid. What about the following trade?

Beal, Smith, McClellan
for
Noel (RFA), Henderson (ETO), Illyasova (exp)

Basically gets you guys out of two contracts to be able to re-sign Porter + Noel...I can't imagine Noel getting nearly as much as Beal did last summer.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Barlow/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Maybe include one of those first rd picks you guys are hoarding?

Wow, that's terrible.

If the Wizards really went that far to clear salary cap space, you'd have eat Mahinmi's deal as well or throw in next years unprotected lottery pick.

Tweak it some: Noel, Holmes, Henderson, Ilyasova, and any 1st rounder Philly currently has through 2019 for Beal, Kieff, Smith, and McLellan.

I actually like Covington over Henderson. I think he can play SG.

I would personally throw in the LAL pick if we could get something like 2018 1st round swap rights in exchange. Taking on Beal/Smith hinders our cap just like it is yours, so there'd have to be some sort of upside if Beal doesn't work out. Holmes/Kieff isn't a dealbreaker but I'd prefer not.

Noel/Henderson/Illyasova/LAL 1st for Beal/Smith/McLellan/2018 1st swap rights

I think this trade would make the Wizards better. But I would try to get a little more from Philly.

Makes more sense to revolve the deal around Porter.

Porter +

for

Noel + Covington

Something thereabouts
