Ruz, I think what we’ll see is an interior rotation of Allen, Payne, Settle and Ionnidas and an outside rotation of Sweat, Young and (maybe Kerrigan) with the three linebackers being Anderson, Holcomb and Foster.

Throw in a guy like Orchard for increased depth and that group looks pretty good.

I think the problem is that Sweat and Young and Kerrigan are all probably better suited for DE than OLB in the 43. If they do pick Young, they pretty much need to get rid of Kerrigan. Even if they don't pick Young, it might make sense to get rid of Kerrigan and get a quicker OLBer that can occasionally cover. Sweat should be starting at DE, and Settle should be the depth to keep guys fresh.

Bottom line - with the holes they have and not having a 2nd round pick and already being one of the top sack teams in the NFL... trade down! They desperately need a TOP left tackle and a quality TE who can step in now. They need a starting free safety and a starting OLBer.

I agree that it’s time to let Kerrigan go although I do believe he’ll have a few productive years elsewhere.

I don’t disagree with your overall assessment... I was really hoping Alex Smith would retire to the front office so we’d have his cap space. Even so, I think we’ll need to use free agency to fill some of the needs you described... but I might avoid the top end, expensive talent and spread the money around to bring in some high motor, high character guys.

If I had to choose, I think I’d still draft Young.

What can the Skins get in return for the #2 pick?
I think the team will end up taking Young unless they get an offer they can’t refuse.
I don’t expect it to happen but I’d love to see them trade down for multiple picks.

If Kerrigan were to be traded, what could they get for him?
He’s 31 years old & seemed to decline this year. Next season is the last year of his contract and his base salary is $11.5 million.

They're going to get some enormous offers for Young because most talk about him is in terms of being the top pass-rushing prospect of the last 10 years. My guess - to move down no more than 10 spots, we'd get at least an additional 1st next year and a 2nd this year. I wouldn't take anything less than that. At best, we get what we gave up for RG3 - who was also the 2nd pick in his draft.

Somebody convince me on Chase Young. He's fast and slippery but I see a lot of arm tackles in his highlights that likely won't translate at the next level. Its not like he is bulling guys backwards. Is it just that his highlights make the opponents look weak? Is there something he is doing that makes them look feeble? Because a rack of his highlights look like bad technique by the offensive line. And while he is strong, and will get stronger at the next level, I dunno, he looks like a pretty boy, doesn't seem to finish nasty, it's enough to pat pat the QB and not run through him. On defense I want to see the LT and Sean Taylor and Dexter Manley. Guys who play with a bad attitude, not trying to look pretty. But okay. I'm no expert on NCAA football. Anyone? Sell me. I'm sure I'm wrong. But why.

Matsko was the line coach for the Rams when they were the “Greatest Show on Turf“.

Still smile when I think of Marshall Faulk.
