Agreed, he'd just be another lying owner. "Gil isn't going anywhere"

If you read that "because we can't trade him" instead of "because we won't trade him" there is nothing contradictory about it.

I don't care what Ted said. Gil's comments and apparent apathy and not taking personal responsibility for his mistakes could have changed Ted's stance on dealing Gil.

No way could Leonsis be happy with his team. Even if he is still a huge Gil supporter I think he has every right to shake things up and ship players as he sees fit.

The past is over and Gil is either not the same or he's tanking better than any player before.

Our guys are starting to lean towards the thought that the deal is Shard for Arenas with Carter going to a different team.

Anyone think that Arenas can be an effective 2 guard?

yeah but maybe Gil has been like that because he knew all along that they would say one thing but were always trying to ax him. It didnt help that Wall & Kirk were named captains and not Gil while Flip also seemingly went out his way to always say glowing things about Wall & Kirk while never nothing about Gil. This might have turned Gil off and he was like, screw them

f. lost a long post.

can see a carter/duhon/gortat/(orton or pick) for arenas/yi/thornton/(martin) but am worried about all the carter/lewis iterations. the 1st option isnt a great deal but it isnt super bad. the 2nd option sucks.

assuming gortat is included it looks like EG is long term recreating (albeit less talented) the 2008 wizards.

PG: wall = arenas (speedy drives yes, shooting range no)
SG: hinrich = stevenson (overrated defense, streaky shot, toughness, fan scapegoat)
SF: gee/martin = butler (complete with jab step but signifcantly worse overall)
PF: blatche = jamison (better length, slightly better d but less range and slghly worse scoring)
C: gortat = Haywood (but slightly worse and slightly overpaid)
differences being young is better than he was at backup SG. McGee is much better than Etan. booker is beefier than mcguire. armstrong is taller than ruffin. jeffries is not on the team.

note to EG: in this fan's opinion trading arenas for lewis is a bad move even if you get orton or a 1st.

If it came down to it, I would like to see a Lewis-Arenas swap where we get two unprotected future firsts (2011 and 2013) and Orton. Orlando's next first will be pretty bad and Orton is not a great prospect, but if Orlando struggles and Howard leaves, the 2013 would have potential. Make them double down on the present.

We're going to be bad for a very very long time..........

If we get Carter, we're obviously letting him walk so this is our team for the rest of this season. We'll be lucky to win 6 more games. We're definitely getting a top 3 pick next year.

We will, by FAR have the worst team in the league. Not really buying the "Rebuild through youth" vibe. It's pretty pathetic to surround Wall with this squad.

Most worrisome is we'll have only 2 years to convince Wall to stick around. Don't see that happening beyond a miracle with this type of lineup. It would have to be a Monumental (pun intended) shakeup to somehow turn this roster into a contender.

Wall
Blatche
Hinrich
Howard
McGee
Young
Gee
Martin
Booker
Seraphin
Thornton
Yi
Armstrong
Ndiaye

AlexKennedyNBA One source says Gilbert Arenas to Orlando is done with an announcement expected tomorrow and debut on Monday. Still no word who Wizards get.

AlexKennedyNBA If Wizards get Rashard Lewis as @BQRMagic believes, it sounds like the Magic will continue to shop Vince Carter and Marcin Gortat package.

AlexKennedyNBA Still working the phones to confirm but it all lines up. The more I hear, the more I believe a second move could be coming.

I think we're going to be very bad for a long time as well....and I also wouldn't be surprised if Wall walks when his deal is up.

We are officially on the clock.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

When you look at it, Orlando does not have very many trading assets. They would be getting a steal.

Where the hell would Rashard Lewis play? Would he ask for a buy-out?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'll believe it when I see it. I just don't think that it's gonna happen. If the trade talks have really been going on since the summer, it's not likely that either team is going to find some combination that they both agree on.

You guys are completely out to lunch if you think moving Gil is going to actually make it more likely that Wall wants out. You're making it sound as if we've just abandoned some sort of sustainable and effective alternative pathway towards solid basketball. The Needle's been pointed squarely to pathetic since the opening tip and the important thing is what the future prospects look going forward rather than how good or bad we were in Wall's first year.

The chemistry is horrible right now, so I hardly see why we're going to fall off from our current 1-10 pace or whatever. And a two year window? Where is that BS coming from? And it will be much easier to acquire further veteran players after a few years now than it would have been otherwise.

I don't get it. I can understand anyone saying "Damn, we're taking Lewis back?", sure, but this gloom and doom shyte is outright ridiculous given the context.

And didn't someone say something about waiting until we're healthy to make any kind of major decision?
I for one am still waiting to see a lineup of

McGee/Seraphin
Blatche/Booker
Howard/Thornton
Arenas/Young
Wall/Hinrich

There is no reason to trade away Gil for nothing.

WB I don't want Orton at all. One more guy for Flip to bench McGee for. Orton doesn't give anything Seraphin, Booker, or McGee don't already provide with Blatche.

At least Rashard is a legit shooting perimeter big who has range. He's grossly overpaid and soft but he is better than Yi and able to play SF.
