Re: The 2013 NBA Free Agency Thread
Mo Williams to Portland for 2/$5.6 (PO on 2nd year). Interesting, but I'm not sure I like it that much for them. Didn't they just draft CJ McCollum to fill their 3rd guard role? Will they have enough minutes to go around? And will their backcourt play enough defense?

Damian Lillard, Earl Watson, Terrel Harris, C.J. McCollum and now Mo Williams. And they could use a PF and we could use another PG.

Then in 2-3 years, KD and Love come onboard just as Nene and Dirk are winding down.
Wall, Beal, KD/Webster, Love..some center
Mmmm, smells good. Pass me the pipe; I want some of that too....
I just did.
Nothing left but to inhale brother.
Though not sure about Love or not. I just throw that in because some here liked him. I'm fine with Nene. Specially if he rebounds to good health this year. Though Love can stroke it from outside and rebound. I don't really have a feel for his personality very well. Not like I do Dirk and KD.

Shirley you don't mean an NBA allstar. I doubt he ever achieves mediocrity in the NBA.
Dude. Don't let him get away with calling you Shirley.
Specially when you got this.

I can't figure this one out. Weird signing.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Maybe McCollum or someone else on the move?

Re: The 2013 NBA Free Agency Thread
And they also just signed D.Wright, so having Matthews play some minutes at SF isn't an option. There just aren't going to be enough minutes.
From Mo's perspective, I would have thought he'd sacrifice some money to get on the floor and try to earn one last longterm deal in 2014. But the market for backup PGs has been running pretty cheap this summer, so maybe he figured the trend would continue next year and wanted the most he could get now.

He keeps getting hurt. But yes, I'd sign him for the minimum and see if he can stay healthy.

That's a HORRIBLE addition. Selfish veteran in terms of wanting minutes and starting role goes to a team that won't make any noise in the postseason if it makes it. Plays the position where they just drafted McCollum. Lillard is their PG. Mo Williams went where he could get paid but I don't get it because that team doesn't need Mo Williams.
LR, that's going to set back certain players and force out others. I think a Barton for Singleton trade would be nice if it can be done to meet the cap.

Agree. Has instant offense potential. Signing him would be similar to the Martell signing from last yr. Maybe the want to find a place to dump Singleton or Booker before using the final roster spot??
GIVE Chris Sngleton to the 76ers for nothing (Booker too if they'll take him)

I think it's a good move, and Portland's had a great offseason - improving themselves everywhere. Remember, even though people talk about McCollum as a PG, he's been primarily a shooting guard in college, and he's much more a 2 right now than a 1. He's actually got the tools to play the 2 in the NBA - he's not 6'5, but he's got probably above average strength. Williams addresses a need, imo. Up front Lopez was maybe the most underrated get of the offseason. He helps out Aldridge by covering the most physical big on the other team. And while I'm not a Thomas Robinson fan, he fills a need by being a physical rebounder. And they got Dorrell Wright as quality depth at a great price. Nobody talks about Portland, but they could be really good next season.

No. 10 SG C.J. McCollum, No. 31 SG Allen Crabbe, No. 39 C Jeff Withey, No. 40 PF Grant Jerrett, No. 45 PF Marko Todorovic
They were looking for depth, they got depth.
Thomas Robinson goes to Portland... Dorell Wright goes to Portland... and Robin Lopez goes to Portland... williams goes to Portland, Watson goes to Portland.
Lillard, Williams, Watson, McCollum
Matthews, Crabbe, Barton
Batum, Wright, Claver
Aldridge, Robinson, Freeland
Lopez, Leonard, Withey
Ruzious, you are right... from a team with no depth to a lot of depth... really nice off-season.

I complained about the Mo Williams signing, but the guy is a respected, veteran PG with playoff experience. I was thinking about his minutes but I hadn't considered his veteran leadership. The Trailblazers added Lopez, and Final Four TEAMMATES Robinson and Withey. They got a guard who can score sufficiently to be in consideration for ROTY, if he gets the minutes.
Overall, they did have a great offseason.
I wish the Wizards could have added a legitimate, young, big, center like Robin Lopez.

Replied earlier, and will repeat. Hopefully, he ends up reviving his career as Okafor and Ariza did last season.
I like that Al Harrington has played with Nene before, and that he chose (apparently, because it's not official yet) the Wizards over the Clippers.
