NOVEMBER 1, 2024 GIANTS INJURY REPORT…
PK Greg Joseph (abdomen) and P Jamie Gillan (left hamstring) did not practice on Friday. Both kickers have officially been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders.

Giants are 0-4 in NY

Commanders are 4.5 pt favorite

B Robinson is still not fully healthy but will likely play. B Coleman is back from an injury but C Lucas is out.

If NY turns the ball over Commanders win. Anyone know anything about the replacement kicker & punter for NY?

Giants are 0-4 at home.

That's bad news. I believe in the law of averages.

7-2.

Giants haven't converted a home win or 2 point conversion throughout the year

WTF was Daboll thinking going for two after cutting the lead to 8 points???

Not like it mattered in the end, but I really don't understand why you'd take that chance with the game still within reach.

This might have been part of it.

On Friday, the Giants declared kicker Greg Joseph out of the rematch against the Commanders on Sunday with an abdominal injury.

Maybe they didn't trust the backup to make 2 extra points in a row.

It felt like we left points on the field, but I'll take the W. At this point, I would venture to say that Daniels has offensive ROY locked up unless someone else steps up over the next 7 weeks. MVP is probably going to Lamar at the rate he's going.

This 5 week stretch is huge, if we can win 2 or 3 of these 5 games, we'd have 10 wins heading into the bye. I pegged the Giants game as a W, and the Titans game as a W. The next 3 are tossups IMO. I feel better about the Steelers game than the other two, but if Dak is going to be out multiple weeks, that might look like a win as well.

I don't want to say this season is luck by any means, but the combination of a soft schedule, timely injuries/records for other teams, and just great coaching/management. To have all this plus a rookie QB exceeding expectations is really really rare.

JD is getting better at sliding/getting out of bounds to avoid hits. He held the ball too long once before throwing it away and took a big shot but you can tell it is a point of emphasis.

The math says go for 2 in that situation and most coaches are following the math (the Cowboys also went for 2 against the Falcons in the same situation yesterday). Basically you are more likely to have a higher expected value by going for two twice then kicking an extra point theoretically.

Of course, the Giants may want to double check their math given their poor two point conversions throughout the session but I am guessing they also are playing with more risk for where they are in the NFL standings.

Gotta love the Cowboys losing to the Falcons and the Bears getting blown out by the Cardinals.

Chicago’s season is over. They have an absolutely brutal end of the season schedule. Everyone was trying to crown Caleb after beating up on the lowly Panthers and Jags  He ain’t it. I think we have a good shot to bring home 12 wins. Need to split with the Eagles and would love to get the W vs Kirk and the Falcons.

Go Commies!

My Bengals won yesterday and Burrow in the presser afterwards was very grouchy about their lousy third quarter. Ok, that team is underperforming, but look at how much good vibes can elevate everyone's play on the Commies. The Commies defense objectively stinks on paper, and yet somehow they are getting stops now. I think it's because the defense know the offense has their back so they're playing without a conscience, just playing the game in front of them with joy and energy. I don't want a qb who is like "ok I don't ANY OF YOU MFERS BEING HAPPY! WE MUST GET INTO THE FILM ROOM AND GRIND OUT IMPROVEMENT! THE BEATINGS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORAL IMPROVES!" I don't think that's the optimal approach.

I didn't realize the Giants are actually leading the league in sacks but didn't get JD once.

Trade deadline incoming. I hope we go big. This is a playoff caliber team and we need to be going for it. There's absolutely no guarantee we're a better team next year.

BTW shoutout to Coleman, left tackle. Giants had the most sacks coming in and he didn't allow a single one. Rookie who basically didn't play in the preseason is crushing it.

That's not true. If the probability is less than .500, you don't exceed that by going for it multiple times. You'll always have a less than .500 chance.

I think the Commanders are not as good as their record. They can't stop the run. They should be 5-4.

The next couple weeks will tell just how good they are. If they do get to 9-2, then they will very likely make the playoffs.

Right now, I can still see the bubble burst, and they could end up 10-7.

7-2 now

Steelers at home (coinflip)
Eagles on the road (loss) (Thursday night game)
Cowboys at home (maybe win)
Titans at home (should win)
Saints on the road (should win)
Eagles at home (loss)
Falcons at home (loss)
Cowboys on the road (coinflip)

That's 9-5 with a maybe win and 2 coinflips.

Looking at between 9-8 and 12-5, and the path to double-digit wins likely dependent on going through the cowgirls, i like it.
