Roster has so many guys that you probably need to replace but have reasons not to. Brad--stupidly overpaid and injury prone. Otto--efficiency lord who is only an offensive option every fourth possession on the court. Markieff "but we gave up a 1st for him" Morris who clearly isn't good enough to occupy the position in an ideal universe where the wiz actually win consistently.

I think the only move I could make as a GM to fix the team at this point is to offer Gortat, Porter, and Beal for Cousins and just pray the Kings take it.

The team is extremely close to "let the core grow together" status which is code for "this is the squad until the rebuild yall sorry".

I had a dream last night....

1. We miss the playoffs
2. Ted finally cleans house.
3. We hit lotto gold with out 1% chance.
4. KD signs here
5. We draft Simmons or Ingram.
6. Our pick to Suns is the 30th in 2017.

Even in your dream scenario you can't find hypothetical players who would sign here

Ingram is a SF/PF...should be swapped out with Morris. Trust me, I've had those wet dreams a lot :)

Prompted by AFM's post in another thread, I just checked the Ted's Take blog. I knew he hadn't posted about the Wizards in a long time (probably since right around opening night) and I wanted to confirm that.

The blog appears to be in a new format or on different software than it was even a few weeks ago. As of today, only posts from December 29 and later are displayed. I wasn't able to see posts from before that, or search for past posts. It appears that the tags are gone as well.

Even a few weeks ago, someone was able to find that post from a few years back about "the new big 3."

So, I'd appreciate someone more tech savvy than me checking this out. Is Ted's Take now set up to send the owner's past pronouncements down the memory hole, or am I missing something?

BigA--it's' clear that the Wizards are pretty much a step-child for Leonsis, with his pride and joy being the caps (who never win anything). Right now, you'll see more advertising for the new Arena league team than the Wizards.

It's why I wish Turd would sell the team immediately.

It's interesting to me that he used to post fairly often about the Caps and the Wizards. There have been a few posts about the Caps this season, much less than he used to do, and nothing about the Wizards.

I suspect that he's shifting his approach to social media to only comment on things when there's corporate PR value (e.g. the new Arena league team) and not go on the record with opinions or predictions that might be dredged up and ridiculed later (as we've been doing!).

Also, I would expect that someone from Monumental monitors this board and other online forums/commentary about the Wizards, Caps, Mystics, etc., as part of of their job. I would hope that any Monumental employees/interns reading the forums aren't participating without disclosing their affiliation. Though I'm not sure there are clear ethical standards for that.

Monumental obviously has someone who monitors and participates in sports forums, the same way that companies reply to negative reviews of their products on Amazon etc. in the voice of a supposedly neutral user of the product. These hacks are easy to spot even when they switch-up users names.

If we sneak into the top 3 I feel like we need to target Buddy. Let beal walk or S&T him for a mid first next year.

Is Thibodeau a realistic possibility for next season? IIRC, he was an assistant for the Wizards at one point so that might give him a relationship with Ted. Do free agents want to play for Thibs considering his rep for overworking his guys?

Thibodeau was an assistant to Eddie Jordan for almost a week during an offseason. It was a very strange situation for him from the start, and he asked to be let out of his contract so that he could take a similar position in Boston.

I love Buddy, but I'd pick Murray of KY ahead of him. I'd pick Murray second in this draft. He's so good all-around for a player who just turned 19.

I understand the upside thing, I do, it makes a lot of sense, but Buddy is a man. A leader, a mature adult with a mature game. He is about as NBA ready as a player can get and he is going to light it up from day one.

Yup - and I said pretty much the same thing around mid-season Buddy was ranked around 20th on most mocks. Still, he's got obvious weaknesses that Murray doesn't. He's a poor ball-handler and not a play-maker other than for himself. He's in the JJ Redick mold - which isn't a bad thing, but Murray is more multi-faceted and already almost as good as Hield.

Yeah, but can the GSW beat Leonsis on the quality of the urinal cakes?

Ha, I thought not.
