Must agree with the latter part.

Mr. Potato Head was Coach of the Year, had the best record last two seasons, and took the fall for Lebron's guys Jamison and Shaq being ineffective. Ferry had to axe the coach when it was Lebron playing bad GM that doomed the Cavs.

Ferry made the right move. Cleveland's not winning anything any time soon and Lebron's likely history. Nobody good wants to join him for the minimum in Cleveland. That team's stuck with Jamison, with the Wizards owning their first.

Ferry timed it right.

Well, they already named Ferry's replacement - and it's not WWWes. From the updated WT:

Replacing Ferry as general manager is Chris Grant, formerly the Cavaliers assistant general manager/vice president of basketball operations. Grant joined the Cavaliers as assistant general manager on July 9th, 2005. As assistant general manager/vice president of basketball operations, Grant worked closely with Ferry on all basketball operations and front office elements, including the draft, trades, free agency and player contracts, as well as overseeing the domestic and international scouting programs. Grant also spearheaded the design and construction of the Cavaliers’ state-of-the-art player development center, Cleveland Clinic Courts, which opened at the start of the 2007 season.

Now, perhaps LeBron endorsed/orchestrated this move. But I can't imagine that Grant has a building philosophy that is completely different from his (former) boss. Rather, it's starting to look like Ferry took his opportunity to flee a sinking ship. So, while LeBron may like the guy, it's still a knock on the stability of CLE's situation.

A side thought: Ferry's dad was Wizards GM during their heyday.

Hypothetically, what if Ted made a play for Ferry as GM?

Yungal got suspended for, uh, "commenting" over on the Cav's board about the state of their franchise. :P

I guess just a few days. I'd imagine that they're a bit touchy right about now.

You know what would be wild? If Bron signed off on it and they decided to try and get GIl. Their board is all on the "We need to get another star and ownership will pay any price" angle. I throw that out more as a party favor than a serious prediction.

Follow up: Mike Miller for the MLE. I guess Haywood would be too expensive.

Their mods have the twitchiest suspension fingers in the West. They're like Joey Crawford on the Riverwalk, looking for a reason.

Well, Miller may be battling a reputation for being a snitch around here, but he just doesn't have it in him to act like a straight up tool like the CLE mods do. They have all sorts of annoying little rules, e.g., "no non-board approved nicknames for LeBron," etc. Even mildly derrogatory, unprofane nicknames like "LeTravel" get you a red-pen retcon with a stern warning on the side.

Yungal's comments in the "Ferry's gone" thread were not that bad at all:

No coach nor GM. Yep, this is definitely a team Lebron wants to resign with.

Us = built around John Wall.

Cavs = built around Anderson Varejao.

Yea, I'd love to trade shoes with you guys.

Unless I'm missing some other thread where Yungal blacked out and threatened to Delonte somebody's mom, I don't see a suspendable offense.

They're a bunch of Nancys, yeah.

We should make a thread where we speak ill of their franchise or something.

Heh. I hear you. :)

I guess I'm annoyed that most boards are content to merely talk trash with a wink, while they're actually suspending posters from the site. Other teams have annoying RealGM fanbases (e.g., TOR, NYK), but their mods can generally take what their posters dish out.

So a forum-specific mod suspends you from the entire RealGM site? Innocent until proven guilty! Free Speech! 2nd Amendment! Long live Yungal!

14-year-old Cavs fan and Cleveland suburbanite Anamika Veeramani is this year's Scripps National Spelling Bee champion. Earlier, she filmed a bit explaining why Le should stay in Cleveland, but it didn't sound very persuasive, and I thought that if she won, her pleas might have more weight. Now she can say, "If you stay in Cleveland, you can become a champion like me. I'll show you how."

I'm pretty sure I was banned once from the Cavs board for simply saying "lol". They are a bunch of pansies, especially "theOUTLAW".

So I'm watching the finals and I catch a halftime report.

One of the mods, can't remember who, said sorry LB. Kobe is king. I crownded you to soon.

The latest wave is about how the Lakers could do this three more years and how Kobe could be better then MJ. My how the Crab has been put in his place. Day late. Dollar short though.

The other funny thing was seeing DW on the trade blocks. What a idiot. They can hardly trade him. Who want a player on their team that could go after anyones mother ? What a prick LOL.

Somewhat off topic: Last night I was thinking about our playoff series with the Cavs and how Cleveland fans always dismissed the rivalry stating that "It's not a rivalry until both teams win." Now as they looked down at us, they viewed the Celtics, Pistons, and Magic as their rivals. However if you look at Cleveland's playoff history (the Lebron James era, let's be honest no one cared about the Cavs before then), you'll see that the number of rivals the Cavs have is not as large as you think.

2006 Playoffs: Eliminated by Pistons in 2nd Round
2007 Playoffs: Beat Pistons en route to the Finals (lose to Spurs)
2008 Playoffs: Eliminated by Celtics in 2nd Round
2009 Playoffs: Eliminated by Magic in Eastern Conference Finals
2010 Playoffs: Eliminated by Celtics in 2nd Round

As you can see the Pistons were the only team that the Cavaliers have beaten and have lost to in the postseason (they swept the Pistons in last years playoffs as well). Cleveland fans like to say that there's a rivalry with the Celtics, but as you can see, Boston has beaten them multiple times when it has counted. In fact, you could argue that the Celtics/Magic have a more compelling rivalry since they've eliminated each other in the playoffs two years in a row.

You can't have it both ways. If you dismiss the Wizards as a rival during the 06-08 run, then the rivalry with the Celtics is nonexistent as well. You can cling on to the Pistons, but if Lebron bolts, it's going to be a long time before those rivals meet up again.

So, the reports of LeBJ's magical marketing tour ratcheted up our disdain to new heights of disgust. But, come on, I don't see that there's any reason to retract from this position now that it turns out that there in fact is going to be no such sojourn.

A few years from now, we can say that, yes, he DID did shamelessly make the rounds and release lime green Timberwolves bathroom slippers. No one will remember the details well enough to challenge our position.

Not sure if this was covered already, but my curiosity enticed me to DVR the Larry King interview the other night. This was nothing but a huge ego-stroke for LeBron. He talked about how he is the "ringleader" (ironic, considering he has 0 rings) of all the free agents and how they are going to get together to discuss how they are going to "make the NBA better". Of course, no details were discussed. They even filmed it in his gaudy house in Akron. The whole time I'm thinking "You live in AKRON."

He used the word "humble" about 50 times. The attention that he has received is "humbling", and his success has "humbled" him. Clearly, he has no understanding of this word, since everything he does is the exact opposite of being humble.

One thing that was made clear is that LeBron is not articulate at all. Where a guy like Kobe will provide something insightful, LeBron's answers seem scripted and overly contrived. People always talk about the charisma and personality that he has, but LeBron fumbled through his answers, making the whole thing awkward. There's a difference between true charisma (Barkley,MJ, even Gil)
and a manufactured persona. The problem is that people have been telling him how cool and funny he is all his life, so he's been lead to believe that he's some sort of comedian. But we've all seen his commercials with the LeBron family and his SNL episode. All are so embarassingly bad and NOT funny, that I wonder how corporate America is getting away with it.

Overall, I will never get that hour of my life back, and my disdain for the man has only ben solidified.

End rant.
