Ted thought it was Anal Ticks. "Well, I'll see my proctologist about that one" he was overheard mumbling.

I just want to say that reading that article makes me so much more depressed as a fan. Being a Wizards fan, (or a fan of any DC team for that matter) is agonizing. This guy has rebuilt a team and won a championship faster than Ted has. It is too bad that we can't fire owners because Ted would start on a hot seat. He has a plan, but so far he would rather stick to being loyal, rather than being successful.

I find I have to say this again and again, because again and again people post here w/o thinking through what Ted Leonsis is to the Wizards, and what "success" is to Ted Leonsis.
First off, Ted Leonsis *does not* own the Washington Wizards. Be really good to internalize that fact. Maybe repeat it a few times to get used to it?
Monumental Sports owns the Washington Wizards (and the Caps and the arena). Ted owns Monumental Sports.
So... what business does Ted want to succeed? The business he owns: Monumental Sports. And how is success measured for Monumental Sports, the business Ted owns? Profit is the metric for Monumental Sports' success.
How do you measure profit? Championship rings? No.
How do the Washington Wizards fit w/ Monumental Sports? The Wizards are *a product* Monumental sells.
How do you tell if you have a good product? You look at how it's selling.
It'll be much easier to understand Ted if you understand the above points.

This really does not make the situation much better you know. You can explain it however you want to explain it. Point is, the product on the court (and in the stadium from what I am hearing) is terrible. Just another way to say how much Ted sucks as a sports owner IMO.

I love Buddy, but I'd pick Murray of KY ahead of him. I'd pick Murray second in this draft. He's so good all-around for a player who just turned 19.
I understand the upside thing, I do, it makes a lot of sense, but Buddy is a man. A leader, a mature adult with a mature game. He is about as NBA ready as a player can get and he is going to light it up from day one.
I missed years ago on Emeka Okafor vs Dwight Howard. I also wanted the man (NCAA champ) over the HS phenom.
Interesting take by Ruzious--Murray over Hield. At least he's seen Murray in NCAA play as well as his very illustrious junior national play on Canada.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

I didn't even know he's Canadian.

Well we have to remember its not like Okafur was a bust, he was a really good NBA player for a lot of years.

Do they have any beat reporters that don't work for Monumental/Ted?

The problem is that reporters report, they don't right opinion pieces so Ernie rarely feels any heat. What needs to happen is some good "reporting" needs to happen, you know, a Post piece laying-out Ernie's 13 -year record to his 421(?) win %. Somebody needs to point-out that the Emporer has no clothes.

Jay Glassie was the one media beat reporter that seemed to understand the game and had the guts to criticize management. I don't think Ted liked that.

Maybe ridicule will make a difference with someone who has an ego like Ted's, if it gets to him somehow. Maybe as fans we can try to do some of that through social media.
With the Caps doing so well he might not be paying much attention, but the contrast between the two teams and the fact that he has kept the same management in place with the Wizards might prompt him to do something.
The crash and burn down the stretch here might make a difference.

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Theodore Leonsis Thread
Q: why is Ted waiting to build the new arena/practice facility before buying a D-League team? Why not just buy one now (for "basketball reasons"), then relocate them to the new facility when it's finished?
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.
