If that was true, the NBA could do everything in their power to keep that story from coming out.

That would be a huge kick in the nuts.

Well, unless that were in a lock out and wanted to kick the players in the nuts.

Every times one of these players pulls a D West or a Gil or a Kobe, it's really bad for the owners.
Specially if they are stuck dealing with their contracts.

I'm sure that is something they will want to change in the new CBA. Stronger rules for suspending players and getting out of contracts if they do messed up stuff.

Wow, Boston picking up D West. Really. I'm disappointed in them.

Hey, they are taking the gamble. Now we sit back and wait for him to do something else stupid.

So who is the tail he will target in Boston or will he travel with LBs mom. Bring his own sand.

Hmmm. Either a very smart move or really stupid. If D West can get something going with LBs mom during a series, it could work again.

So LeBron shows up at FedEx Field Sunday night. He's a Cowboys fan. Of course. Just like he's a Yankee fan. And just like he went running to the Heat. Frontrunner. Punk. No loyalty, not even an ounce of imagination. But for this game, he shows up wearing an Obama t-shirt.

He just makes it too easy for me. Still looking for that first sign of a redeeming quality.

Heat already bending over and touching their toes for LeBron, putting all his besties on their payroll.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

You could be looking a while.

But seriously, as a human seeing him as another person, you have to feel sad for him at some level.

Steinberg:

Worst Front-Running Doorknob: Was there ever any doubt that LeBron James would be a Cowboys fan?

"In DC for My Cowboys game tonight. Gonna be a lot of sad faces tonight in this area. Lol!!" he wrote on Twitter before the game. "All of this Maroon and Yellow is making me sick to the stomach! Haaa."

Haaa. There's this quaint tradition of fans actually rooting for their hometown team, sticking with that loyalty through good times and bad. On the other hand, some people just choose random cities to support and abandon their hometowns. That, believe it or not, would be LeBron.

Apparently, he ended the night by catching a pass from Joe Theismann in the parking lot (really), and by Tweeting this:

Penalties killed us all game and it cost us all the way to the end! #crazy

Yup. #Crazy how overhyped teams wind up killing themselves.

Q Scores weighs in:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5575810

LeBron is now the sixth most disliked sports personality on the planet and rising fast. Those of us who invested in LeBron-hate futures are sitting pretty!

he he he.

Per GSG's post above, here's some quotes from the original CNBC article:

In January 2010, The Q Scores Company took a poll of the general population and found that 24 percent of people thought of James in a positive light, compared to a 22 percent negative opinion.

Henry Schafer, executive vice president of the company, told CNBC that the average sports personality has a 15 percent positive score and a 24 percent negative score.

“LeBron’s positive score at that time was the highest we had ever seen it,” Schafer said.

But since “The Decision” show on July 8, things have gone seriously downhill for the NBA star.

"Instead of his change to the Heat being seen as the best way he can win a championship, many have looked at it and how he chose to announce it as a selfish move."

LeBron’s Q Score today?

Schafer says that now only 14 percent of the general population see him as a positive figure, a 41.6 percent drop, while 39 percent view him in a negative light, a 77 percent decline.

In fact, LeBron is now the sixth most disliked sports personality, according to The Q Score Company, behind Michael Vick, Tiger Woods, Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco and Kobe Bryant.

“Instead of his change to the Heat being seen as the best way he can win a championship, many have looked at it and how he chose to announce it as a selfish move,” Schafer said.

Schafer says that LeBron’s “Decision” was one of the most detrimental acts – not related to any anti-social behavior — by a sports personality since the Q Scores were first developed more than 45 years ago.

Oh, now this is just tawdry...

ESPN.com will launch a site called 'The Heat Index' next week, which will focus on LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat.

The site will be launched on Oct. 11 and will feature wide-ranging coverage.

Most notably, the site will feature reporter Brian Windhorst, formerly of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Windhorst has written two books about James and has covered him since middle school.

This is going to be pretty disgusting; I don't think i could deal with it if the Wizards got this sort of coverage.

Windy's in on this too? I thought he was an Ohio-ian till the end. Well, there's a certain constancy there as he was kind of like the Head Librarian of Mordor for so long that I'm rather pleased by his inclusion, actually. But, he was seemingly pretty critical during the whole fallout period, so I'm rather surprised that he's taking his talents to My-Hammy.

Yeah, this is the worst kind of excess. The press release reads like an Onion article.

There's a long thread on the subject on the General NBA thread (chock full w/ annoying "Haterz Gonna Hate" and "U Mad?" gifs, natch).

This is especially obnoxious:

The Scene – Jemele Hill covering the culture, scene and lifestyle angles tied to South Beach as it relates to the Heat and the buzz surrounding the team;
Triple-Double Tracker – a module tracking James’ progress towards averaging a triple-double for an entire season;
Chase for 72 – an automated, daily forecast of how many games the Heat will win including ESPN.com’s John Hollinger projecting the odds of the Heat matching the Chicago Bulls’ record of 72 wins;

Really? ESPN is gonna start a Chase for 72 tracker before they've even started a game?! Really, Jemele Hill is going to be ESPN's TMZ reporter dedicated to South Beach? And, we've assumed that LeBron will actually get close to averaging a triple-double for an *entire season* (even though he's never averaged double-digits in any single category other than points for a season before), I dunno, just because?

The folks in Bristol aren't stupid. They know that this kind of saturation will only breed backlash and contempt. They've clearly calculated that they're better off getting a little more attention to the casual fans, at the risk of losing the die-hards - who are increasingly getting their news from Y! and blog networks like SBNation, anyway.

Of course, place your bets on when ESPN starts running the "Are the Heat overhyped/overexposed?" angle.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

How about a DP-Tracker for Le's mother?

Sorry. I know that was harsh.

I really shouldn't be laughing at this. It's wrong and in bad taste.

But to be honest, I just snorted some coffee all over the floor.

I can't wait to see BOS play CLE and watch Delonte check 'Bron out. If the game is in the Garden, I'd contribute to a reward fund for the best Delonte/'Bron's Mother sign inthe crowd.

Kobe's asked who would win a game of One-on-One between him and LeBron:

Agree that Kobe wins, but he missed a perfect chance to really dig in:

"I'd probably win, five to nothing."

Just watching some NBA TV about OKL.

Talking about how Durrant just extended is contract so quietly. No press.

The kid is 22 and so good. Calling him the Icicle. Little George. Baby ice.

Also, he said OKL is the place he wants to stay.

I can't wait to see him stealing LeDouches stage. He is everything Douche wants to be.
Skilled. Classy. Mature. Smooth.

Russel Westbrook is pretty good also.

Wow, young and talented team.

Oh and just watched the KD interview. He wasn't all smiley. Just mellow. Almost quiet. Brushed off all the honers. Not a media darling at all. Kind of stoic. If that was Gil, they would have said he was depressed. LOL

They asked him about all the nick names. He said call me KD or Kevin. LOL

Kevin Durant is getting a massive bandwagon of fans. My friend and fellow off-on wiz fan is now a hardcore Durant fanboy.

Durant's a nice kid? That's great, so am I. Screw him, go Wiz!

Whoop, whoop, "The HEAT index" is up on ESPN!

I'd give you guys a link, but my Firefox seems to be a bit petulant as of now, having the wrong addy listed for every site.

It looks like a cross between the Daily Dime and the main NBA front page there. A pretty serious bling-bytch spread, really, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were days when the main NBA page and "The HEAT Index" are nearly indistinguishable.

I have refrained from delving too deep, coarser sorts than I will have to do the scouting about, but I would imagine the Chats will be priceless.
