P.S. Putting your sponsor's name across the front of a uniform makes it look like a Euro soccer team. I'm not hating on INNOVA Medical, but sheesh guys. How 'about just an INNOVA logo off to one side or something.

1. I've never been totally enamoured with the name "Wizards". But whatever...it is, what it is.

2. How about just DCA across the front? (Washington seems kinda long).

I predict that that the Wizards will follow suit. We know Ted is a fan of red, and seeing that the Caps and the Mystics are all featuring red, I doubt the Wizards will buck the trend w/ a blue uni (unless it's an alt down the line).

Pine's right that the sponsor logo makes the uni look more like a soccer team. The aggressive Adidas branding (three stripes down the side? Really?) makes it look even more so. Still, the WNBA is hungry for revenue in a way that the NBA is not, so I don't envision those design elements making their way to the NBA (except for all-star unis, perhaps).

But, overall, the uniforms are clean and simple. I like the number font. I miss having a prominent team name word mark (it's been reduced to a soccer-like "crest"), but I prefer it overall to the Holdsclaw-era unis. If the Wizards introduce a solid logo/wordmark, and go with a similarly uncluttered white-home and red-away uni set w/ blue numbers (echoing the Googs/Webber era, but w/ a darker navy), I'll be happy.

I must be one of a few people that actually like our current jersey color scheme. I hope the red isn't like the hawks red I'm not really big on the red white and blue unless its like the old bullets unis someone posted above.

not to rain on your parade but they did the same exact thing when they unveiled the gold alternate jerseys a few years back. its just a jersey unveil. i wouldn't expect anything more than any other jersey unveil.

and they won't be changing the name either. at least not anytime soon or else we would have heard about it by now.

I spoke to my ticket agent today and while she told me that she has not seen the new uniforms, she did say that she spoke to someone who did. According to this person, the predominant color of the jersey will be red (no surprise there). She also said that while the current wizards symbol (wizard with a star) will be on the uniform, it will be very small and will not be noticeable. I asked whether the name Wizards will be de-emphasized, and she said yes. However, she did not say what would be on the jersey itself. No real surprises here but I thought I would pass along this info.

If this is true, then this will be the seventh team in the past 10 years or so to change their uni and colors without changing their primary logo (along with Denver, Atlanta, Detroit, Utah, Minnesota and Milwaukee). In fact, this will officially be the third color scheme the Wizards use with the same logo (if we acknowledge their shift from copper to gold). That $500k logo changing fee really puts a crimp in a team's ability/willingness to fully overhaul their brand, it seems.
