The only Euro I'm interested in is Kanter. I can't believe these other stiffs are getting so much hype. Skinny, no athleticism to speak off, how on earth are these kids getting ranked so damn high?

David Aldridge has his center rankings out, he's got Valanciunas #1, Kanter #2

Sounds-like Valanciunas may be worth a stash with a throwaway 5th or greater pick.
Valanciunas may be worth the risk.
"Whoever gets him, they're going to have a player," gushes a Pacific Division executive. "First of all, he has a motor. He plays hard and he has a huge (7-foot-6) wingspan. The only thing right now is he's light in the (behind). But he's got great hands. He's not a stiff; he's got a touch. He runs. Whether he can contain the post right now, I don't know; he's so light. But he's got a lot of (stuff) going for him."

Interesting thought. Some have compared him to Skita from a few years ago, but could Skita's career have gone differently if he'd had another year or two overseas to develop?
Here's a thought - would a good team give up assets to draft and stash this guy for future returns?

Vesely has athleticism for days, weeks, and years. He reportedly had an outside chance as a top 10 pick LAST year. But I want no part of him

Re: 2011 DRAFT blather goes here. Part 3...
I offically have a mancrush on Bismack Biyombo. I think that he could very well be the best player in the draft.
Right now, he stands 6'8 in socks (so he's really an NBA 6'10), already 240 pounds, a Maxiell/Blair type wingspan on a taller body (actually his bodytype is pretty much the same but with center size), a 9.3 standing reach (same as Dwight iirc), very athletic, good basketball IQ, excellent in both man to man and weakside defense, great rebounder...
BTW, even though we don't "know" his age, it's very likely that the conventional wisdom is overstating his age, not understating it. Supposedly his cartilage bones haven't fused yet...could he be growing still?
I'd use the #1 on Biyombo and go to sleep soundly at night. I think the team that gets him will have a top-tier defensive big man. I think he'd be devastating next to McGee at PF, or even at C next to Blatche (we can't get rid of them both in the same year). I really think he and Valanciuas are the two best big man prospects in the draft, and I'd certainly take both over Derrick "Capitwan" Williams.
I'd draft BB with our top 5 pick, and trade up using our #18 and draft and stash JV.

I'm a big BB supporter as well, but I don't know that I would select him over Williams or Kanter (with Irving being trade bait in certain scenarios). I don't think that Williams is another Jamison. I think he'll be able to defend either the 3 or 4 better than AJ (not that this is a huge bar to clear). If Kanter is as skilled as advertised I would be interested, but I think last year he measured out lengthwise at a mediocre level (standing reach and wingspan). Kanter is by no means a slam dunk pick. As for BB, I would have no trouble picking him from fourth on if the other guys are off the board.
As for JV, I really like your thinking but I doubt you're going to be able to move up easily from 18 to the 7 to 10 range to be able to select JV. If the buyout issue were settled and JV works out well, I could even see him in the mix in the 5 to 6 range or so.

This is one atrocious draft. I wouldn't take any of the Euros other than Kanter, though I'm intrigued by Vesely. I think those guys need 2-3 years to adjust to the NBA game and lifestyle. If we end up with a Morris brother in the top 10, we're in trouble.

Well, at least this means nobody we get next year will help immediately, hence we'll be in the lotto again!

Thompson at sixth... I'd reach for him then go with a scorer at 18 if Singleton isn't there
In Rizzo we trust

It's really not that bad of a situation for the Wiz, imo. I'd be fine with either BB or Jonny V. As long as one of the guards (Knight or Walker) go 4 or 5, we should be fine. I give EG the benefit of the doubt to know that Vesely would be a terrible pick.

Ok...well I would take Marcus Morris at #6...he's the surest pick between #5 – #10.
#18 is between Jordan Williams and Ken Farried. It's too bad because we really needed a bigman here...I don't want to see Blatche starting next season. Hell, I don't want him on the team at all....

Check-out DX's new wacky mock, they have Kanter dropping to 8 and us taking Vesely.

Re: 2011 DRAFT blather goes here. Part 3...
well that was fairly predictable that our chances of moving down
were better than our chances of moving up.
seems to me the important thing is we have a chance
to either add 2 players or possibly try to leverage the
2 into one more desirable pick, and that desirable pick
could be lower, not higher, than our 6th pick.
As is we will be very young again. It might not be
that great to try to add 3 more rookies at once.
A draft and stash could be a decent strategy.
BB could be the guy. And DX has a fav of many on
the board (EnesK) going after our number 6 pick so we
could conceivably still get our guy.
Minor disappointment but not the end of the world.
