Highlights of Olynyk’s 21-point, nine rebound performance in Tuesday’s win over the Pacers’ squad can be seen in the clip above. In addition to the offensive skill set shown, where Olynyk is comfortable in many different spots on the floor and is able to use his dribble to get himself into position to score, what isn’t seen is some of the high-IQ decisions made by the young seven-footer in the areas of both rebounding and passing.

Ruz, the guy has a few Larry Bird type shots in his repertoire. Olynyk is very good at using his body to shield his shot. He's physical enough to drive into the contact and score.

Pump fakes, spin moves, scoop shots with either hand -- Kelly Olynyk has old man game.

Watch the entire game and KO has some legit skills, his over under move is rediculous for his age and experience. Yes its SL but the kid has shown some promise, OTOH Adam Morrison dominated SL

Summer league stats don't matter. Maciej lampe was summer league MVP putting up a better stat line than that as a rookie.

I remember expecting a lot from him when the Knicks had him.

http://basketball.realgm.com/player/Mac ... ummary/466

He was 18 when he was a Knick. He came to the NBA 10 years ago but is still just 28 years old. Injuries are part of what hurt his NBA career.

Since then, he's done pretty well in Euroleague play:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maciej_Lampe

Lampe signed a one-year deal with the ULEB Cup club Dynamo Saint Petersburg, however the team went bankrupt shortly thereafter. The bankrupt Dynamo squad was thrown out of the Russian Superleague A one day before the start of the season. Thus, Maciej moved to Khimki Moscow Region. In February 2008, Khimki beat CSKA Moscow in the Russian Cup final and Maciej was awarded the best player (MVP) of the cup final. Maciej then signed a three-year contract extension with Khimki.

Lampe returned to Russia in January 2010, signing with Unics Kazan.[1] He was voted the 2010–11 Russian Professional Basketball League MVP for the regular season.[2]

Spain[edit]
In July 2011 he signed with Caja Laboral for two seasons.[4] In December 2012, Lampe was named MVP of December in the 2012–13 Euroleague.[5]

I won't be surprised if he gives the NBA another shot.

I read this 5 times before I figured out what you meant: roaster = roster.

But yet everybody would be writing the kid off already if he was putting up Steven Adams' type numbers out there.

Adams is going to be real good. Just give him... 7 years... give or take a couple.

I expect his defense and rebounding will be good right away if he can avoid foul trouble. Right now, however, he's looking like he's got a long ways to go before he's even Miles Plumlee good.

Speaking of Plumlee, Mason's looking all-world summer league good. Whatever that means.

So, does the fact that I can't fake to save my life and only basically 1 go to post move and a couple of weak countermoves mean I have young man's game? :D

Watching more footage of Olynyk I see a cross b/w two guys. A smaller Arvydas Sabonis & Luis Scola. Individual defense is going to be an issue but his effort is there and he knows where he's supposed to be. His awareness/IQ is just off the charts.

Highlights of Porter from day 1 mini camp.

Nice to see him making and taking shots off the bounce. Also good to see him practicing the corner 3. Making that shot is probably the quickest way to earn playing time.

Watching the Rockets/Jazz game right now and Trey Burke looks really tentative and nervous right now, hes had a lot of bad turnovers and hes 3-10 to start this game in a quarter and a half.

OTOH, Im really loving Beverly's game with the Rockets if Lin doesn't step up hes gonna lose his starting job and Terrence Jones should get more time too next year.

PS Reggie Jackson had 35 today including 23 in the 4th. The 35 is a new Orlando SL record but SL stats dont matter!!!

They should be back in the playoffs in 2-3 years. And in a perfect storm, maybe sooner.

Yep. In one year, from what looked to the world like a total disaster -- losing Howard via what everyone thought was a horrible trade -- their new, young GM has turned the Magic into an incredibly interesting franchise with an absolute *ton* of young talent.

Word is they have been trying hard to trade Glen Davis. Even if they don't, next year they'll have 11 guys under contract for @ $37m. Wow. Oladipo, Vucevic, Harris, Harkless, Nicholson, O'Quinn, Lamb -- a terrific set of young talent. Add Osby maybe. And of course more to come next draft.

If they decide to go "all in for mediocrity" like a certain team I know, what would keep them out of the playoffs next year, given the $$ they'll have to spend on FAs. My guess is they won't do that.

The only problem with having all that young talent is THERE are only 240 minutes to go around. At SF and PF there are 96 minutes, total. How can young, talented players develop when they can't all play? Harris is rock-solid, and about the closest thing to a breakout star at SF/PF. Harkless and Nicholson play SF and PF, respectively, but they're going to be pressed for minutes. A healthy Glenn Davis is a starter at PF. Vucevic is their C. O'Quinn is a nice rebounder but he's going to need someone to go in order to get PT. The rookie Osby has a nice game, and he's going to probably end up leapfrogging guys on the roster, young guys. No matter how ORL does it, someone is not going to get the minutes. What complicates it is when young guys are battling other young guys for minutes on a losing team.

At least the Wizards roster has some nice balance of veterans and youth now. I wish the 2011 drafted youth were more talented, and that Seraphin was a worker on the boards. We don't IMO have an abundance of talented youth.

Orlando will have the same challenge the Wizards had before adding more vets though they do actually have some. Its all in how they make the transition just like what the Wizards are going through now. It may be easier for them though since the have a difference set of young talent. ie. no Nick or McGee.

The Wizards had to transition out of young talent to new young talent. Orl has VO, Tobias and Nikola right off the bat who all three will likely remain starters. Orl is closer to what the Wizards were last year maybe. Al could really help them get this going.

As for us not having an abundance of young talent. I think Wall, Beal and Otto is pretty abundant and we still need answers on Ves, Kevin and Singleton. That's plenty for now. Two mostly sure things. One rookie top 3 pick who looks to be a all around solid player, and 3 youngs that needs to prove it or lose it this year.

I'm keeping an open mind on Ves, Kevin and Singleton. They get this year to prove what they have. Last year was needed for the team to move forward but it did change the game on them in mid song. Now they have had an off-season to adjust to the bar getting raised on them. They deserve that benefit of the doubt in my book.

How can you have a name like Reggie Jackson and not be a total stud?

Danny Ainge just yelled at ref: "That was perfect defense." Larry Bird responds: "What do you know about defense Ainge?" Hilarious.

I'm watching and wondering how much of the void Jackson can fill if Westbrook does get traded some day. I know the Thunder lost in the playoffs, but Jackson at times looked darned good vs both Houston and Memphis. He's growing a lot more confident.

Jackson will never be an elite player like Westbrook, because he's not able to make those acrobatic, attacking drives that force defenders to foul at times. I do think Jackson can be a steady player if the Thunder ever do think about trading Westbrook for a star at another position, such as C.
