Vesely and Maynor weren't helping. Miller will. He'll back up Wall, and play minutes with Wall.

It's cap neutral for the offseason if the Wizards decide not to keep Miller. His guarantee is about the same as what Maynor was owed.

Agreed on the playoffs.

I see this as kind of a double Mulligan for EG. Bye bye Jan and Eric. Hello Andre Miller. He consistently equates veteran with better. He does not consider diminished return due to player age. EG is all about CYA. Must keep job. Ted didn't release EG or Randy, nor does he hold Grunfeld accountable for past blunders.

My other thought is will this expose Randy as a hater coach. I think Vesely is good enough to help Denver.

Interesting deal.

I hope your right.

I spent the whole trade deadline terrified that Ernie was going to trade Ariza and Otto for Luol Deng.

Defensively, our 2nd unit will be much like it was when Maynor was PG.

Is Miller better than Temple??? Offensively yes. Defensively he's a massive downgrade. Can Miller & Temple play together? Can either of them make an open jumper?

Brick city!

I do like Miller playing in the post though. That's my favorite thing about his style of play.

Disagree. Mack is having a good year for Atlanta. If they'd kept him (remember, they cut him twice to keep less productive players), they wouldn't have needed to go find a backup PG.

These kind of duct tape moves to fix blunders are what you get when you've got a FO and coach you don't really believe in but are keeping around on short deals because they work cheap.

Anyway, I hope Andre Miller is the vet PG that Wall asked for.

Sums it all up doesn't it, about this incompetent franchise? A guy EG had <expletive> for for at least 3 years, and planned to draft in '10, finally getting him in '11, is then traded along with a valued second rounder to correct a mistake he made in a FA signing that was far more costly than the bird in hand (Marshall) that he kicked to the curb.

Vesely and Maynor all in one giant collective metaphorical dump in his pants. The sheer grand mal stupidity of this franchise knows no bounds, or accountability.

I don't see it as any indicator that Grunfeld could be gone. I think the ONLY way Grunfeld is ousted is if they miss the playoffs.

Too much negativity here (as always). Ves was bad by practically every metric. Maynor was awful. Miller can ball, we get an open roster spot, and I don't have to be subjected to the dreaded bench offense.

Kind of like how McGee helped Denver? I know how you like to think that any young Wizard will strive somewhere else, but I think its highly unlikely that Jan will. Wittman has given Ves plenty of opportunities during the last few years. Unfortunately, because of a lack of confidence and a lack of skill, Ves could not take advantage of them. I am not at the very least worried that we are going to regret trading Ves. With that said, its a pretty sad indictment of EG's drafting skill that we traded a 6 pick for a 37 year old disgruntled vet.

Andre Miller is one of the most durable players in NBA History.

If he gets injured here, It would be #SoWizards.

good compared to what?

I didn't see anything last night that made me say, dang, we shoulda just kept Shelvin.
OK, maybe he's not horrible, like Maynor. But still.

I liked AJ Price but he's totally fallen off the radar, can't play on a team with
both Rubio and Barea.

I can bemoan all of EG's past failures to all end as much as anyone else, but in a vacuum, this isn't an awful trade. I think the Pelicans will probably be near .500 next year so possibly a 44-48 pick range. You have a *chance* at finding a rotation player there, but EG probably wouldn't...and anyone he would find would be improperly developed by this coaching staff. Getting rid of Maynor is awesome, and Miller is an upgrade for the rest of the season no matter how you cut it.

I wish Jan the best, I hope he finds a niche in the NBA, he has flaws, vulgar ones, but I'd like to see him succeed if only to condemn EG's incompetence for employing this coaching staff.

FWIW, we've actually enjoyed modestly good health this year. (knock on wood)
And say what you will about the medical staff, the most impt guy
on the team (Wall) has not missed a game since missing the first 32
games last year.

Wasn't it just one second round pick? And the Zards didn't exactly give that pick away, they did get a much-needed upgrade at back-up PG.

Wizards send Jan Vesely to Denver and Eric Maynor plus two second-round picks to the Sixers. Basically EG screws up the 6th pick in the draft, the BAE and then "fixes" it by shipping out two second round picks. Can't spin this as good - just can't find a way to do it...
