None of that made sense to me. The clippers traded their franchise player for garbage and a 1st round pick. It was terrible. Harris doesn’t fit any rebuild timeline, neither does Bradley. That move makes no sense whatsoever.

Gallo has been hurt this season, but he was a great player last year, he’s only 29, has a shorter and cheaper contract than Otto, Deandre Jordan has a player option that he most likely opts in, why would we re sign Lou????

Besides, the idea would be going all in for this season anyways. I’m just brainstorming, I don’t know if I would move Otto anyways.

What doesn't make sense? The Clippers were a capped out mediocre team with decisions to make on Jordan and Williams this summer. Griffin is 29, injury-prone, showing signs of athletic decline, and in the first year of a five-year, $173 million deal. They got a late lotto/top 15 pick and useful pieces on much more manageable contracts. Notice I didn't say they're rebuilding in my original post, though that's certainly an option now. They could play it out and see how Bradley and Harris fit in. They're flexible. Bradley expires this year. Harris expires next year and can be moved if they wish. They have plenty of options.

I already covered Gallo's injury history. He's not just hurt this year, he's hurt every year. I'd much rather have Otto.

While Harris absolute #s are not as good as Griffin, he's still a solid asset. When Detroit was doing well in the first half of the season, people like Zach Lowe were talking about Harris making an all star team. The team's performance fell off more due to the absence of Reggie Jackson then a regression to the mean from Tobias. His TS% at 56% is as good as Blake's. He doesn't get as many points, rebounds, or assists per 100 possessions, then again Griffin averages more turnovers. The big thing is Griffin's contract, where he is still in the first season of his $171 million dollar contract and could be significantly worse if he suffers another injury.

And the Clippers can either hold onto Avery Bradley or trade him to another team. The trade in fact would allow the Clippers to trade Bradley back to the Celtic for a pick, something that the Pistons would not have been able to have done since they acquired him from the Celtics.

I'd say the closest comparison would be the Pelicans and neither of those guys are as good Cousins or Davis.

Who's going to open up the floor for Griffin and Drummond to do their thing, looks like a spacing nightmare

This is lottery bound squad and if Griffin comes up lame at any point I wouldn't be surprised if the Pistons just pulled the plug on his season to chase ping pong balls.

Chances of them beating the protection are slim, but that's probably their only hope.

If I had to pick between the two teams I'd say the Clippers situation is far more favorable than the Pistons.

KO is the best trade asset Ernie has ever had (perhaps). What could KO and a 2018 1st pick get us? We could probably unload Mahinmi AND get back decent help. We gotta look at selling at on KO, Otto is not tradeable right now IMO.

With Wall being now out for the foreseeable future, does Ernie still think that this is a playoff roster or is he going to try to make this a playoff roster. This means a trade is definitely happening but for what now.

I can’t see it, that would be a move to make to permanently replace wall, he’s only out 6 weeks, what happens after that?

I expect something like Meeks and our 1st for Tyreke Evans.

Imagine having signed Tyreke in the offseason instead of Meeks.... just imagine it for a moment... bathe in it... let it consume you...then drown in despair. **** Grunfeld.

This makes sense.. our only prime assets are Oubre + 1st rd pick, and both of those have increased significantly in value. The pick looks like it could be a lottery pick now.

What star out there is worth Oubre + 2018 1st? I don’t see any who’d be on the block, and imo Deandre doesn’t cut it as a “star”

I think the clear play here is to dump Gortat at the deadline and hold onto the draft pick. I haven’t done a ton of research into college ball yet but there are a lot of good bigs in this class.

There are a ton of sleeper bigs in the mid to late 1st Early 2nd area and a few elite guys at the very top. For example, look up Mitchel Robinson some time, could be a diamond.

Why do I feel like ernie is going to trade Oubre and a 1st for Deandre Jordan and Lou Williams and label Deandre an all star?

Crazy that New Orleans found a taker for Asik's contract.

Why did NO trade a 1st in a season in which Cousins is out? And even if they re sign him, Mirotic can’t play the 3 with them. They didn’t open any cap space for the offseason either, they added money. Why why why

If we are not going to give up a 2018 pick, there won't be much of a deal. Maybe a 2019 pick but what are you going to get for Gortat, Jason Smith/Meeks and a 2nd? Not a lot. I'd rather keep the pick but I'd also like to improve the team in the long run with a rim protector, which maybe we get in the draft. Probably not in a trade because we're not getting Jordan as a rental for garbage. We're also not getting Lou or Tyreke for anything less than a first.

Is this deal still on? Pelicans actually traded a 1st to get him and now trading a 1st to get rid of him.
