Under Reported!!! This is how Republicans do corruption, an F’ing 200 MILLION dollar ad campaign given to a Trumpie. This may be worth an expenditure, but 200 MILLION!?! This is corrupt, and insane.

The US president openly parrotting Kremlin talking points is beyond the pale.
No wonder Russia doesn't want Europe to participate in negotiations for peace.
They know a sucker when they see one.
NPR had a story this morning saying that Biden was soft on Putin, sanctions-wise because the bulk of Russian money comes from oil and gas, and oil&gas was high, and downstream effects of high oil&gas results in everything else being inflated prevented Biden from sanctioning oil. 2 weeks before leaving office, Biden enacted sanctions on Russian oil&gas because prices were stabilizing, and also gifted Trump serious sanctions against Russia for leverage in Ukraine/Russia peacemaking.
The oil&gas sanctions will seriously hurt Russia in the pocketbooks because at the beginning of the war, the US sanctions really hurt Russia (the bank runs, freezing stock markets, etc.) but Russia was able to stabilize by expanding their oil&gas sales (to China specifically). If Russia's economy starts destabilizing because it doesn't have oil&gas money anymore, it really really hurts the Kremlin.
But of course Trump has no interest in exerting leverage against Russia despite his big strong talk about putting America First.

I don't see Trump as a patsy.. When it comes to Putin or billionaires like Musk, he's a kindred spirit. He doesn't value democracy, or a just society. No one's pulling the wool over his eyes.
There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics — quote popularized by Mark Twain.

We used to be the most powerful nation on earth, a shining beacon of democracy that served as an example to other countries that were tempted to turn to totalitarianism. We were proof that there is a viable alternative to tyranny.
Now we sell out our friends to pwn the libtards.

He's a patsy in the sense that he's not actually one of them - he's not playing the same game as them, but rather a useful idiot who can be influenced with cheap (literally) flattery in exchange for extremely valuable, and even invaluable favors in return.
Trump literally stands nothing to gain, politically or monetarily, in letting Musk and Putin implement the policies that he's being pushed towards. Trump just gets to feel important. There are no backroom deals, or dark money being funneled into Trump's pockets.
For all the rumors of Putin using Trump Tower Moscow as a carrot for Trump's cooperation? If Trump actually facilitates the Russian annexation of Ukrainian land, currently estimated at between 40-60 thousand square miles of occupied territory (for reference, Pennsylvania is 46k sq mi), not even counting the strategic importance of that land, Trump can't be doing that just for a freaking building permit. Putin can build Trump a dozen skyscrapers for free and it would still be an incalculable steal for the Kremlin.
Same for Musk in not having NASA oversight over SpaceX, not having DOT oversight over TESLA, not having CFPB/SEC oversight over crypto, not having FCC oversight over Twitter, not having FDA oversight over Neurolink, etc. $250M in campaign contributions in exchange for DIRECT control over the governmental entities that oversee his fortunes? Elon went from 200B to 400B net worth last year, WITH government oversight. He stands to make literally a trillion dollars, by himself, over the next 4 years.
Elon's goal is to have Twitter be the "everything" app for the world. Everyone uses it for email, e-payment, social media, everything that you use a phone for. The data alone is worth a trillion. The screentime would be basically the entirety of human productivity. It's dystopian stuff.
There's nothing kindred about it.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXXIV
Are you a patsy if you are easily blackmailed? Which is better, to just bow to Putin's wishes because you want so badly to be his friend? Or to sell out Ukraine for cash? Or is it blackmail? Surely Putin doesn't have anything on Trump that his followers wouldn't forgive him for? Or is he just demented?

I don't think it matters either way since you arrive at the same point. I guess I agree with pancakes. I don't think Trump values anything other than himself. He doesn't care about Russia or Ukraine or even America. Useful idiot is a perfect term. I would have called him something else but this board has a curse word filter in the year 2025.
I read a comment somewhere recently: Trump and Elon aren't conservatives. They're opportunists.
Makes perfect sense to me.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Trump Floats Giving DOGE Savings to Public, Defending Cost Cuts
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-eyes-giving-taxpayers-cut-234133498.html
These idiots keep talking about how they cut some DEI program in Africa or wherever, saving 2 million bucks, it's literally a rounding error
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-eyes-giving-taxpayers-cut-234133498.html
While the White House has claimed some $55 billion in savings so far, itemized documents posted by the group suggest the actual savings are only a fraction of that amount. Sending 20% of the roughly $8.6 billion of DOGE savings the group has so far listed on its website would amount to about $11 per taxpayer.

Trump wants be a Dictator/King that rules over all things that interests him, he isn't actually running country, he somehow has time to micromanage the Kennedy Center, and now DC. Trump is a true Fascist.

it's more like an inbred hapsburg idiot-king or child-like emperor that the advisors/eunuchs let play with toy soldiers while real business gets done behind the scenes.

makes sense if we're talking about Garland. kamala wasn't "appointed," she took over the ticket from the nominee who stepped down. but hey, nuance. who cares.
