I never have and I’m 5’11.5” you don’t know how tempting that is. I’d love to be 6’1”

I don’t know why not. I’m 6’2” 240 and not hefty. Cam is build like he’s in the wrong sport. Like a strong safety or linebacker. At 6’7” of dense muscle that seems about right. He looks even more solid this year than last. I’d bet the med staff would like him to trim down to reduce forces on his landing from those explosive dunks. But he’s just built out of cement. Hell his cinder block head probably weighs 30lbs.

LeBron James is listed at 250. Corey Maggette a similarly built guy played around 225. Cam looks about 230-235.

Re: Cam Whitmore
Did you all see the footage of coach Keefe yelling at Cam and sending him to the bench. I guess we are learning why the Rockets traded him for peanuts. Serious attitude problems. May be time to cut bait if he doesn’t respond. If Udoka couldn’t get him to fly straight, I don’t have much faith we can. So sad as he’s clearly talented.

Re: Cam Whitmore
Maybe I'm blind but I didn't see too much to worry about in that clip.
He does seem like a bit of a black hole though. He's very good at finishing on the break even with multiple defenders, but he doesn't seem to love team basketball. He's taken a few heat check 3s early in the shot clock for zero reason.
Jordan Crawford also had all the talent in the world and we all remember what happened to him.

Cam brings more to the table than Jordan Crawford did (not meant as criticism). I view Keefe's demonstrative reaction (in the tweet video) as "tough love." I hope Cam an be made to learn the team game of basketball. If so, he'll be a terrific asset.

I believe the previous Wizards offensive possession, Cam took a somewhat contested step back three at the top of the key with plenty of time on the shot clock. I was also upset with the shot selection and glad to see Keefe calling him out. I also remember that Cam stayed in the game after this which I was surprised about. If he does it again, I hope Keefe benches him.

Funny but in the Dallas game thread I remember saying Cam shouldn't be taking step back 3s. He's not that kind of shooter.
I saw Tre making step back 3s all the time in college but I am not sure he has taken one yet in the NBA.

Re: Cam Whitmore
I'm not impressed with Cam. I hadn't seen him before on the rockets so his game is new to me, but he's not playing team ball out there and he doesn't shoot the ball well. If he doesn't get it together by the time Bilal gets back, he's gonna be buried on the bench.

Re: Cam Whitmore
There’s a role for Cam as an offensive weapon on the Zards. The coaches and Cam just need time to figure that out.

He's Larry Johnson!

He's the only one on the team who can really explode to the hoop (maybe sorta Bilal) -- it's a skill they definitely need. But his ISO no-pass step-back 3s have been... chilling. Missing a defensive assignment or not noticing an open man, sure -- those take time to fix. But seeing him immediately do exactly what they must have told him not to do was a little concerning.

Re: Cam Whitmore
I’m more concerned that he’s not running up and back at full speed. Seems to float and watch a bit. But again they have him trying to play PF. So he’s probably trying to rebound and see where he fits on that end. Meanwhile he’s getting little brother treatment by AD or Giannis. It’s not his best fit he’s strong but he’s not a seven footer.
Which is why I want him at 2-3 where his muscle makes him a positive mismatch and his role isn’t to scrap for rebounds so he can leak out on the break. Cam on the breakaway would be hard to stop. In this role he seems uncertain. I was hoping he’d have a green light to score but instead they’re asking him to be Champagnie. Not his strength and we have that guy already.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Riley starts taking more minutes. Shame since he had a prime opportunity with Bilal out.

There was a reason Cam was available for so little. We are getting to see the reason.

He's a scorer. Put him at 2. Just like Khris Middleton, he's a powerful scoring guard.doclinkin wrote:I’m more concerned that he’s not running up and back at full speed.
