I think we should all end our posts with "Good Wizards". So we aren't mistaken for the bad ones, like Saruman.

Are you a Good Wizard, or a Bad Wizard?

Oh, I'm not a Wizard at all. I'm montestewart from DC.

My post looks silly now. Hands' post originally ended with "Good Wizards." instead of "Go Wizards".

My thought still stands though.

I remember the last time they made it to the playoffs the first time.

Yeah. They are out there. Not bandwagon. More like closet Wizards fans.

We are the big bad Wizards here. Mightily so. And we are also the good Wizards.

Go Wizards.

I can remember the last time it was the first time they made it to the playoffs the second time. And I can remember the first time it was the second time they made it the playoffs which was also the last time. But I can't remember the second time it was the last time they made it to the playoffs the first time.

All you new posters here are required to write a 500 word essay on the above.

I had forgotten about those "welcome to the newbies, tell us about yourselves" threads, so I bumped the one I could find. There's some good stuff in there I echo hands' sentiments. Welcome new friends. Take some time to look around and familiarize yourselves with the way we do things here.

Where's Hoopalotta?

Hi Everyone,
Thanks Hands and Fishercob. Figured this is a good opportunity to introduce myself...I am a longtime lurker who may come out of the shadows to post now and then. Unknowingly, you all have been a support group for me for some time now. Thank you.

I'm 40 and I've been a Bullets/Wizards fan since the 80s. My addiction to the Bullets/Wizards became really pronounced during the Howard/Webber years and has continued for some reason to this day. I grew up in PG county and remember games at the Capital Centre. I lived in Cleveland during the Gilbert years when the Cavs with Lebron knocked us out year after year, crabdribbles and all. Why did EJ go small?

I am back in the DC area now living in Bethesda near Friendship Heights. I'm a former elementary teacher who is a married guy, full-time dad to two young children and am also a professional DJ.

Go Wizards! Good Wizards. (Feel free to change the name back to Bullets though.)

Personally, I think we should start this thread anew, as the original one is about 4-5 years old and things have may have changed!

Thoughts?
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

I did that Mohammed

Even rolled out the red carpet - "Official - Red Carpet Welcome Aboard New Members Thread"

How it got merged with a thread that hadn't been posted in since May 15, 2012 that was bumped after the new thread was created is baffling. That old thread must have been on like page 15 or something. And it wasn't even a thread designed Welcome New Members. It was to get to know who was here.

The old thread would have been a nice link in the "Official - Red Carpet Welcome Aboard New Members Thread" so new people could learn about how is already here, but hard to see how it was a a replacement. That besides it was buried back in May 2012

It doesn't add up. I know we like to keep topics consolidated here but that's a reach and a half. I've seen a ton of more logical merges then this last one. But you have been here long enough to know why it was merged.

Sorry if the mods feel like I am calling them out but I've been an active contributing member for a while and I want to see this board successful. There are other places people can go these days. I see the activity ( 800 posts game threads) and growth there and I wonder why its not happening here as much. So I wanted to help by making a thread to welcome new members that might find us. Moves like this merge and how I've seen some new members get attached isn't exactly rolling out the red carpet to attract new participating members.

I thought it made sense to merge it. I'd rather see 4-5 year old posts than no posts at all. Why make make Rico, MJG, Dat2U, CCJ, etc. reintroduce themselves? I see nothing to be gained by letting that thread die and replacing it with a brand new one. By merging it, we retain all posts. What's the big deal?

mohammed10 wrote:Great idea, group!

Pseudonym: mohammed10 - last name...perhaps there were 9 other mohammeds on here before me???

Age: Late 30's...glad to see at least two other 'old guys' here as well

Hometown: DC! Born and raised in SE...high school and college in the city as well

Status: Happily married for 9 years this October. Known my wife for 22 years..best friend. Got it right the second time around. No little people...that I know of

Occupation: Radiologist

Locale: Metro Cleveland (unfortunately)

:D
Fav Wiz players: Elvin Hayes (Old school) and Caron Butler (New school)

Wiz Fan History: Born and raised on DC and eventually Bullets (uh, I mean Wizards) basketball. Fell in love with the game as a kid. Actually played in HS - didn't start (was actually last guy off the bench) but it helped with the ladies. Too vertically (and now horizontally) to be any good, but still pick up the rock from time to time. Loved Dick Motta's style of play ('It ain't over 'till the far lady sings!') and been suffering with Gene Shue et al., ever since. Watch as many Wiz games as possible on satellite. When I visit my brothers in DC, we try to catch some games during the year as well (mother-in-law is a HUGE Wiz fan as well...wife? not so much).

All about DC sports - Georgetown/Terps b-ball, love my Caps and closet Skins fan as well (gasp).

Fitting that this is my 1600th post...

Dat2U wrote:Name: Dat2U...for the older heads on the board, you know what this was short for...

Age: 34. But I look and act much younger.

Martial Status: Single. No kids. Since I've been on this board I have two relationships I was hopeful might turn into marriage but for one reason or another it didn't work out. I think I'm getting to that age where I'm ready to settle down.

About: I was born in San Francisco, CA, raised in Oakland, CA but spent most of my childhood in SE DC. I grew up across the street from Potomac Gardens in SE so I didn't necessarily have an ideal childhood growing up. I'm of african american & middle eastern decent so it makes for an interesting experience at Airports. Last year I moved from the DC area and purchased a downtown condo in Columbus, OH. Nice city to raise a family, but um, I miss DC.

Job: I'm self employed nowadays and I work from home. Currently I've contracted myself to work for a small meeting planning company. It's not exciting, but it pays the bills. Currently looking for other revenue streams to supplement my desire to travel extensively. I did mortgage lending for a while but I think I got into it two years too late and the money just wasn't there for me.

Wizards: I stumbled across realgm years ago looking for a NBA trade rumors site. I had been on ESPN for a minute before that but found it unsatisfying. I can't believe it's been more than 8 years since I first joined. Before then I even did a little writing for hoopsworld.com . I've been a Wizards fan for as long as I can remember. My favorite player was Jeff Malone. I used to love to imitate his fadeway, leaning jumper.

My favorite Bullets memory was Dudley Bradley's buzzer beater to cap a 17 pt playoff comeback in the final 4 minutes of a playoff game against the 76ers back in the 80s.

Cool to see a young Charles Barkley and good ol' Manute Bol.
