Really proud of the kid. Big coup for the team, and considering he's an all star.....hope it's a coup for us with the refs. Congrats. Great great dunk. Even showed his PG skills in the first round.

Sent a note to Leonsis. Concise recap......ride the recognition with a good deadline trade. As much as I appreciate Nene as an all-world, unexpected, "un-wizard" talent. Flip him for some peers for our two all-star recognized talents. It's time.

KEEP GORTAT. We already lost out on Noel. Trade Porter and Ariza if at all possible. NO MORE LOCAL FAVORITISM. Pollin is dead.

Congrats Wall. Now stop shooting the elbow jumper and prove you're more than an "And-One" player.

The round format was awful!

Wish there was more but Wall and the East killed it. The East freestyle was sick. Should have been at least 2 minutes.

They need cut out that awful shooting challenge. The half court shot drags on so awfully. "X" that stupid challenge.

EDIT: What killed it for me was the 1 dunk per player round. Vince Carter got what 4 dunks? Yes he demolished them all, and I highly grant him favors for that, just like I would Wall for getting it on the first try. I feel once you miss your score and fan arousal drops dramatically. Wall hit it in the first try and that's why he won. Paul George dunk was likely the most difficult but it took him all his tries. Wall said **** it, I'm gonna get it, and then he did. Mucho props! I hope this rallies Wall up. I hope this weekend says I am one of the best. And he goes off for the rest of the season. Love Wall! Stop shooting deep 2s though, unless you make them!

Wall at 2:50:

"Over the break, the main thing I've been talking to Brad about is that we both have to be more aggressive in attacking the basket, we settle for too many long twos"

I was a little scared when they had Wall go last against McLemore. McLemore was the West's best dunker by far IMO. The Shaqlemore bit was funny but he could have done more with the dunk itself, which looked fairly standard. Better than jumping over the front of a Kia... But it symbolized how corny and prop dependent the dunk contest had gotten.

Then Wall just kind of quietly set up the dunk, got the crowd up on their feet, repositioned G Man carefully, and then blew the roof off. The genuine enthusiasm after he nailed it and the dance at the end with Paul George was cool.

Wall is an authentically cool dude. Never seems to care about his brand. Not relentlessly self promoting like a lot of other young stars. Unselfish. And genuinely liked around the league.

Steve McQueen would think Wall is cool.

BTW, I like the new format of the dunk contest and, on the whole, I think this AS weekend Saturday was good. I liked seeing them get some of the WNBA stars involved. And it was cool to see Nique and some of the player's dads out there. It's another chance for some charity to win some money.

If I were Reggie Jackson, I would donate some of my own money to that charity for dogging it in the skills competition.

When Vince Carter retires, I'd like to see him as one of the judges for the dunk contest.

I thought three was kind of a crowd for the freestyle dunk part. I think you can do more with the teamwork element of dunking if you do two dunkers from each contest. But I do like the idea of going with a PG/SG/SF from each conference moving forward. And I like how you get one individual dunk per player. One dunk should be enough. A signature moment, when you have a guy doing like four dunks it dilutes them.

If they do the PG/SG/SF again next year and they invite different players, I want to see Westbrook as the PG from the West and Derrick Rose as the PG from the East. Oladipo should be in the contest next year too.

Here's a post all-star game interview with Durant who says that after the West got out to a big lead "John Wall turned the game" for the East with his "intensity on defense."
