Addition by subtraction. The Raptors will now win the Atlantic pretty easily and finish with the 3rd or 4th best record in the East.

Yeah :) Maybe Masai will be trying to trade Lowrie and Amir for picks potentially.

I was thinking something similar. They are apparently trying to build around a Cousins/DWill/Rudy frontcourt, but now with no point guard to distribute the ball among them. Maybe they are going to make another move? Rondo immediately came to mind, but I don't see how it happens.

Should be fun to watch. Maybe Cousins will scare the spit out of Gay and get him to pass more.

Nice move by TOR.

Just watched them beat LAL.

Lots of pieces and even better, lots of movable pieces.

Getting out of that Gay contract was the main thing getting in their way. Real nice move.

The new CBA is really starting to have an effect.

Any Rondo trade would have to be centered on picks, wouldn't it? Sacramento doesn't have many tradable assets anymore, if they intend to keep those three for its front court.

Doesn't the trade with Toronto create a glut on the Raptors roster? Wonder if any useful parts will be freed up? Our bench could use just about anyone.

Is it a coincidence that the Kings called up Hamady just prior to the trade?

So many questions…

By moving Gay, the Raps may have unintentionally guaranteed a playoff spot though. If Toronto is serious about tanking, they're going to have to move guys like Lowry, DeRozan or Johnson.

That assumes they have someone to replace Gay with. But yeah, they should get better just by getting Jonny V more touches. Maybe they can trade conferences with Denver. :) Now they have more pieces to trade for draft choices. Either way, it's a great move by Toronto, imo.

The Raps got 3pts & 8 rebs on 1-15 shooting in 59 minutes b/w Landry Fields and Steve Novak last night.... and won by 12. Unless they play 4 or 5... they've gotten better because Gay was such an ineffective ball stopper.

If Fields and Novak can keep up that... production, even in the East, they could miss the playoffs. Boston is leading their division. :o Btw, why does the NBA have divisions?

It will probably bump the Raptors up a couple spots in eFG% and knock the Kings down. If you plug in Gay's eFG for this season and 20% of the shots, it knocks them down to Utah/Milwaukee level of eFG.

Taking Gay out of the Raptors would put them on the level of the Knicks(with similar defensive eFG%). I don't think the actual effect will be quite as dramatic since Gay is having very bad efficiency numbers(even for him) this season. Also the players the Kings are sending out have struggled some this season with the exception of Vasquez.

I just don't know what some GM's are thinking. Rudy Gay is widely viewed as a net negative commodity across the board(s) and with good reason. If they wanted a small forward, I would have been happy with offering them Ariza in return for a pg and a pf.

Not sure how many nights Amir Johnson is going to get 33 points. Plus the Lakers defense under D'Antoni is awful.

The Wizards shouldn't have taken on Hayes in an Ariza deal, but something like Salmons/Vasquez for Ariza/Singleton seems pretty even. A Booker/Patterson swap could be included depending on your preference.

Surely they could use Eric Maynor, no?

Josh Smith has a TS of 45%, taking 4.5 threes a game shooting 27%. We never would have guessed that.

I just love to hear tontoz hate on Josh Smith. It never gets old.
