So with Miller going to the Cavs, that is one less suitor for Ariza. It still appears as-though DC is Ariza's last choice after the Lakers/Houston/Dallas/Heat.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 4
Vince Carter is leaving the Dallas Mavericks to join the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies announced the deal with the 37-year-old Carter early Saturday morning, but did not disclose terms.
Sources told ESPN.com that Carter was finalizing a three-year, $12.2 million contract Friday night to join the Grizzlies, who have coveted him for some time.

Should help Memphis with their wing/bench scoring issues.
Also hurts Dallas. After the Chandler deal and now losing VC, they have zero depth on the wings. I saw they might be interested in Mo Williams, but they've already got a few PGs. They need a big wing that can defend IMO.
Assuming Houston doesn't match the offer for Parsons, Dallas also probably loses Marion. Leaving them with:
Chandler/Wright
Dirk/???
Parsons/???
Ellis/???
Harris/Felton
Not a lot of depth (sorry, but giving big minutes to Crowder/Ledo/Mekel isn't the answer) and Chandler will be responsible for covering up for EVERYBODY on defense.

With this kind of line-up, why would you pay crazy money to Parsons when Ariza'a number is $10-11Mil? Hard to imagine that offer sheet to Parson's get's submitted.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 4
I'm pretty sure it has been submitted, closg00.
Basically, Cuban maxed out Parsons in order to screw Morey. But Morey might get the last laugh when he declines to match and saddles Dallas with that awful contract.
Houston can replace Parsons with Ariza or Deng, or he can sign a stopgap (like Marion) on a 1 year deal and hit free agency next year with max money.

Next dominoes likely to fall:
[tweet]https://twitter.com/KCJHoop/status/487957208093585408[/tweet]
If that happens - CHI gets Gasol in S&T and amnesty's Boozer - I'd expect them to go hard after Ariza.
Their other option would be to try to do a Melo S&T, but apparently NY doesn't want Boozer.

Pau doesn't forget LAL leaving him in limbo.

The Utah Jazz notified the Charlotte Hornets that they have matched the four-year, $63 million maximum contract offer sheet for restricted free agent Gordon Hayward, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

I guess you can now add Charlotte to the teams after Ariza. Maybe Deng too, but he's likely going to Miami:
Marc Stein: ESPN sources also say that Miami is making progress in its pursuit of Luol Deng to team him with Chris Bosh and soon-to-reupped Dwyane Wade

Carmelo resigns with the Knicks. I guess he believes in Phil Jackson or the extra cash.

Anthony Morrow has agreed to sign with the Thunder, according to beat writer Darnell Mayberry.
A Wizards target off the board. Nice pick up for the Thunder. Could be interesting in a year or two if McGary develops into a decent player to add to their frontcourt with Adams and Ibaka.

The Ariza watch continues, we need him badly if we are going to keep-up with this restructured Eastern Conference.

Reports I've seen also have Stephenson being heavily pursued by Charlotte.
Houston appears to be our biggest threat with Ariza. I've seen multiple reports saying they are getting pretty locked in on him.
Morey may ultimately flip Dallas the bird and let them swallow Parson's deal after all.

I'm not sure if Charlotte really wants Ariza. They already have their defensive ace in MKG. They went after Hayward because Hayward is a creator on offense and could play some SG for them. I'm not sure if they're interested in a strictly 3&D player like Ariza - at least not for $10M+

Agreed. I think they want more of a SG type like Lance. The only people we have to worry about for Ariza is Houston and Chicago. I don't think the Lakers become a factor again unless they offer beaucoup bucks. Chicago will probably amnesty Boozer to go grab Ariza and it wouldn't surprise me since they got to see him up close in that playoff series. Houston is still the biggest threat though.
Speaking of... http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11206 ... evor-ariza

Oops, forgot about Lance. Yeah, he'd be a better fit in Charlotte than Ariza. They also need a PF after losing McBob (Vonleh's probably not ready to start). They could afford Stephenson+Humphries with the money they were going to pay Hayward.

I read your PF comment minutes after seeing they're also pursuing Marvin Williams. You may be onto something. lol.

There goes our stretch 4. Who out there wants 2 years at MLE money? Humphries or Davis are my top two targets, but I think thats too low for a sort-o-quality big in this market.

Payback is a bitch, but this is also a great time for Pau to latch-on to one of the top teams in the East IF Rose stays healthy.

It will be interesting to see how the two "super-max" deals signed this season turn out - Bosh and Melo. I have a feeling the deals won't be pretty at the end. It is one thing to sign a guy to one at 26/27, quite another starting at 30.
