I think our only hope in this trade is if draft picks come along. It'd be great if Phx sent their first to Orl because its a coup to turn Hedo into Gortat. Then Orlando gives Wash their first and Phx's first for the trouble of taking Shart. Highly unlikely, but really the only hope of coming out of this thing smelling like roses, rather than a shart.

If Gil-Shard goes down, I hope EG has the good sense not to lay it on thick about this being a "basketball decision" and that he thinks it will improve us significantly on the court. He doesn't have to say that Shard is hot garbage, but don't insult our intelligence either.

So if this happens, we basically traded Gil, Jamison, Butler and Haywood for next to nothing...Or at least that's the way I see it.

I want Gil and Kirk traded and hopefully as happy as Deshawn, Caron, and Brendan are. Give him hope like Antawn had before Lebron exited Cleveland.

I really don't care if the Wiz get Rashard or a not-so-sexy deal. Hopefully, Gil gets a Mike Vick new leas"h" on life.

I will have an easier time watching young guys lose. Flip can coach them all the same way. Good riddance. Make a trade and give this fan a Christmas gift. I am excited about this rumor!

I've always valued your judgment, and analysis but this just sounds crazy to me. Why in heck should we be happy about moving one onerous contract for an even worse one for a player who doesn't even appear to care anymore. Whateverone may say about Gil, one can't say he doesnt care. I've heard remarked in many a place that Rashard's contract may be the worst ever big money deal in terms of effort/performance received. It's a horrific deal and would be a massive albatross 10x as bad as Gil's. There is nothing to recommend it, and Vince Carter? WHy in hell would we want to surround Wall with two of the most notorious slackers and quitters in the NBA. I thought we were trying to improve the culture in DC, not dig to new depths of adonis-like self-admiration w/o any of the justification.

This trade would be the worst kind of disaster possible, up there with the horrific Webber and Wallace deals of Young and Big for Old and Small, except now we ship off, hungry and angry for disinterested and lazy. Wonderful. Just move him for picks and an expiring, if we have to take on Carter, fine, but not both of there worst attitude/worst contracts combos. And what kind of attitude could one expect from those guys moving from an East Contender to a cellar dweller. They'd be even bigger cancer's than they already are. It's a nightmare to me.

Am I the only one who sees this as giving up Gil's awful contract for another awful contract that has one less year?

One thing I would hate to see is the Gil trade meaning that Kirk is our starting SG. He should still be a backup with NY as the new starting 2. or you could have Howard start at the 2 with Lewis at the 3. or if Flip hates McGee so much then we can go smaller with NY at the 2, Howard at the 3, Lewis at the 4, and Dray at the 5, and just run all day like the Suns use to.

BTW, I definitely dont like trading Gil for Lewis as I think its horribly dumb but I also think Shard has alot more in the tank then people think. He was just never a fit in Orlando. Then again, he probably wont be great either. It will probably be like Caron is to Dallas. Shard will be better then he looked in Orlando but not the same guy who got the max eitehr

I hate the straight up Lewis for Arenas swap. Arenas is a better player! Who cares that Lewis expires a year sooner? We actually lose 3 million of cap space this year! Its a stupid trade.

Phoenix made a great deal.

Oh well...we got screwed but I expected it. I don't know why Grunfeld never plays hardball on any of these trades. He just does what the other GM asks everytime. At least get a 2nd rounder out of it...geez.

Plus, we don't even get a 1st round pick in the deal. It sucks. Rashard Lewis sucks. He is super soft. I'd buy him out today honestly. I'd rather player Cartier Martin and Gee at SF than Lewis. Cut him. You trade the best player on the Wiz in 3 decades for shaving a measley year in 2+ years? Buy then, Wall, Booker, and Seraphin will have cap holds and potentially could be extended. There is no point in doing this trade!

These were my sentiments a month ago. But at this point, the Wiz have no reason to keep Gil around. We're not getting better and we won't get better with him sucking up salary for the next 3 years. Unfortunately, the only team that is willing to take on Gil and his salary is Orlando, bc Dwight Howard is complaining about the team he has around him (which is interesting, seeing as how his FT% still sucks and still hasnt developed any post moves) and Gil and Otis have some weird homoerotic affair going on. I think VC is cancer and poison rolled into one. I also think Shart is an underachiever. But in the end, a lineup with them is more balanced than the one we currently have. Plus, this is strictly a business decision. We're giving up a guy we love and getting garbage in return, but in the end it's a better move for our future than sitting and doing nothing.

Ernie Grunfeld is every other GM's prison bitch. This is just ridiculous. We got NOTHING for 100% of our top talent of the last 6 or 7 years. I suppose Rashard Lewis supposed to make me want to buy a ticket to see this team play.

I hate Rashard Lewis and would not play him one minute of PT. I think Josh Howard is much better than him. Rashard Lewis is UNTRADEABLE. He sucks, and the rest of the NBA knows it. He can't guard SFs anymore. He's softer than Jamison (who at least would rebound). The Wiz have no flexibility for the next two years thanks to this stupid move. I would Eddie Curry Lewis right now. This move basically allows us NO CAP SPACE this year if we extend N1. I would have tried and get Gasol, but it ain't happening now. What a BS trade!

C'mon now guys. Ernie Grunfeld has been here long enough now, Rashard is the prototypical Grunfeld acquisition.

I don't get it Phoenix dumps Hedo and JRich on Orlando, gets an expiring, a nice young center AND A FIRST ROUND PICK???

We give up a guy who is better than both Hedo and JRich and all we get in return is a contract as **** as Gilberts. Unless Gilbert seriously pissed of the management, this is a stupid trade.

I swear if we are trading Gil for Lewis straight up I'll never forgive Ernie Grunfeld. What the f*ck, why would we do that it makes absolutely ZERO sense. What because Rashard has a year less on his deal? Screw that, I'd rather have Arenas for an extra year. That doesn't even mention the fact that we'd be sending him to a division opponent. Does Grunfeld realize there is already a Miami Heat team in our division now he wants to help turn Orlando into a better team? We do plan on to be able to compete at some time, don't we?

I despise EG if he made this move. WHAT A STUPID TRADE!!!!!! The best player this team has had in years for utter garbage that is Rashard Lewis. The man who sold jerseys, who gave to this city, for RASHARD LEWIS!!!!! The man, whose jersey should be retired, for RASHARD LEWISS!!!!! The man, who made that last second shot against the Bulls, for RASHARD LEWIS!!!!!

Fire ERnie Grunfeld. I'm done with him.
