Marc Stein is saying Lowry is next to go. I proposed a Porter+filler for Lowry+Amir trade package (where we would also get the lesser favorable of the Knicks/Nuggets pick in 2016), but I think Masai is too sharp a GM to take that trade.

I'd actually consider doing it without the first. Maynor would have to be part of the filler, and we'd need to get a couple seconds back.

I just love to hear tontoz hate on Josh Smith. It never gets old.

I still have his jersey somewhere lol. I really thought he would get it one day but he is still doing the same dumb crap he has always done. He can be such an impact player when he is not taking dumb jumpers or trying to lead the break.

I'd consider mhd's trade - it'd definitely help us a LOT this season. The problem is that Lowry would be just be a rental, because he wants to make big money as a starter. Maybe if we'd get a 3rd team to pass Lowry on to for someone who's a better shooter but maybe not the defender that Lowry is. Amir would be a real nice fit for this season and next.

Non-Wizards Lowry trade scenario:

Raptors trade: Lowry
Raptors receive: Waiters

Bulls trade: Deng
Bulls receive: Lowry, Zeller and Clark

Cavs trade: Waiters, Zeller and Clark
Cavs receive: Deng

TRADE ID 6373606

Cleveland gets a starting SF to try to regain some momentum towards the playoffs. Chicago fills a void with Rose out. Toronto gets a young player in return for Lowry.

I can see Chicago being interested in Lowry. The Cavs definitely need a SF, so Deng makes sense for them. I am not sure the Cavs should be giving up Waiters in the deal. Being expiring greatly reduces Lowry's trade value even if he is a nice player.

without knowing anything about his contract, I'd love to get Lowry here.
I think Randy would appreciate his defense for one thing.

He is expiring for $6.2 million. Would definitely fit a need for the Wizards. I think Ariza would be about right value-wise if a third team would send assets and filler to the Raptors.

The latest on Asik:

Keep your eye on Philadelphia. Front-runner would be overstating it, but the notion that the Sixers are a viable destination for Asik is increasingly making the rounds. And that certainly makes sense given (A) Philly's front office is run by a certified Asik fan in former Rockets exec Sam Hinkie and (B) Philly has a frontcourt player to send back to Houston in Thaddeus Young, whose skill set can click with Dwight Howard's, albeit not as well as seemingly unattainable dream target Ryan Anderson; and (C) there really isn't an Asik for Philly to draft with the high pick it's likely to snag in the 2014 lottery.

That's an expected "wow". I guess they really want to bring Noel along extra slow. Other options:

Atlanta and Milwaukee are thus two more teams to monitor, with the Rockets undoubtedly drawn to Paul Millsap and his cap-friendly contract -- though the reality is you can say the same about a ton of teams -- and what has been described to me as the strong possibility that the Bucks are about to get active on the trade front in the wake of such a poor start.

Love the MHD trade. Sadly I think we're stuck with Porter. Realize it's too early but he's already labeled a bust. Mentally and/or physically weak etc. 3+ months for a hip flexor is worrisome.

That being said I ship him out for the Toronto trade proposed immediately.

Wow. If Thaddeus ends up on Houston, he's going to blow up and Fish will go ballistic (as ballistic as Fish can get anyway). I think he actually has been saying all along that Thad is best utilized as a stretch 4 and in that fun and gun Houston offense he'll be very effective.

Pondexter out for the season in Memphis. They're already not getting much from Prince at SF and Mike Miller is an injury waiting to happen. Any chance they make a move?

Toronto just waived DJ Augustin. He is having a horrendous season, but his career numbers are far, far, far better than Maynor's. We should cut some crappy and sign Augustin.

Man, I'd really like to find a way to turn Gortat into Asik and then extend Asik. I'd love to have our defensive center locked up for the next 5 years so we could then focus on the PF of the future.

Asik is a surely a better defender and probably a better rebounder too, but our offense would take a big hit. Right now i think it is a given that we are going to play out the season with Gortat and then try to resign him. His pick and roll ability really opens up the offense.

Asik is 2.5 years younger, but Gortat is a MUCH better offensive player, and seems to be a great fit as a pick & roll big.

If Houston would trade Asik for Nene, I'd love that deal, and allow Gortat to play PF (on defense).

mhd - agree with that. But, we would need a dynamic SF to act as a 3rd scoring option (I am not looking at you, Otto).

Agreed, this team's offense would go back to what it was before - Wall on the fast break and not much else. And Gortat has been solid at times 1-on-1 (remember him against Hibbert a week or two ago), he's just not a great help defender or shot blocker. Maybe we can find an Ibaka-type PF at some point.

But even with Gortat's defensive shortcomings, the starting unit is still playing elite level defense. Would Asik really help so much that it would be worth returning our offense back to the proverbial stone-age? I'd argue the answer is no.
