Wow, not getting that one. He'll be behind both Dragic and Bledsoe.
At first glance, it's worse than I thought. $27M for a backup PG?Ken Berger @KBergCBS now
Suns presented RFA Thomas with a four-year, $27m offer sheet. Kings no interest in matching; Thomas no interest in staying, sources say.
Unless they are trading Dragic. Maybe those supposed talks with Indy actually have legs?
4/27mil isn't that much for a 6th man. Even if they end up losing Bledsoe or Dragic I don't think IT would start ideally. Also his salary will decrease each year.

So the Rockets turned Asik, Lin, Parsons, 2015 1st and 2nd into only Ariza!!! Man Morey might've just trumped Ernie's 2010 and 2011 seasons as the worst ever!!!

In retrospect they should have picked up Parsons option. Still, I don't think the Mavericks got good value for Parsons at 3 years for $45 million.

So, 2 days ago(?) people were hating on Ern and loving on Morey?

Very true 3/45 is absurd for CP even though hes very good, its more of a laugh at Morey for outsmarting himself

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 4
The Pelicans will keep the pick next season only if it falls within the top three or after no. 20; the Rockets get it if it falls somewhere in between those spots, per sources close to the talks.
Houston may very well have a lottery pick next season, not sure what the Pelicans were trying to do here. They accepted the balloon payment AND gave up what would most likely be a lottery pick.

The Marvin Williams contract makes me feel even better about the Pierce signing.

I thought Butler was a vet minimum candidate, never thought he would get $9 million.

Butler took advantage of his time in OKC where he shot 44% from 3 in the regular season
Still he may have been had for less.

maybe they were also factoring in the increase in lady attendance due to
those XX types just wanting to oogle him.

Agreed, wasn't expecting that. Looking at this, I would have thought the nubmers for Butler/Augustin would have been flipped (with DJ getting more money).
Augustin will be on the books for two years at $6 million; Butler will make $4.5 million next season with a team option for a second season.

So they will have close to $15M tied up in Meeks/Butler/Augustin next season. SVG is not off to a good start IMO.

It backfired on both teams with Parsons laughing all the way to the bank. What an obscenity of a contract.
Bosh also is laughing all the way to the bank.

Keep in mind that they still have some cap space available from the Asik/Lin trades and free agency just started.
The huge and unexpected offers from Miami and Dallas blew up Morey's plan, but if his plan had worked he would have Bosh AND Parsons right now.
At least he tried to make a bold move with Bosh. Just because it didn't work out doesn't mean it was a bad move.

I haven't seen the details on the 1st they gave up to dump Lin, but I am pretty the one they got from New Orleans is better. Obviously it did not go according to plan, but I think they still have some options.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 4
Free agent Grant Jerrett has reached agreement on a multi-year contract to re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder, a league source told RealGM.
Jerrett, a 6-foot-10 forward, played for the Thunder’s D-League team – the Tulsa 66ers – last season and had been a development priority for the organization. The Thunder declined the 2014-15 team option on Jerrett, opting to make him a restricted free agent. Both sides came to terms on Monday afternoon.
Jerrett averaged 15.3 points and 6.1 rebounds in 27 games for Tulsa. An ankle injury in early July prevented him from playing in the NBA Summer League.
After one season at the University of Arizona, Jerrett, 21, declared into the NBA Draft and went to the Portland Trail Blazers with the 40th overall selection[/b].
I wish we aspired to be this kind of an organization.

Its an over pay for CB but DJ at 2 years 6M isn't bad.
Det is a better team now.
Caldwell-Pope is going to step it up this year as well.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 4
Could the Rockets have offered Parsons an extension if they had excercised his option?
It seems that would have avoided the risk of losing him and given them a way to reward him for dramatically out-earning his contract. If they had extra cap space this season, they could have renegotiated this season and saved themselves some money in the future years.
The move would have looked genius if Bosh had signed with them, they could have immediately offered Parsons a 5 year deal which would have spread out his salary cap hit(probably ultimately a deal not too different from what Gortat got). However it looks like they may have taken an unecessary risk.
