Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Is Patty Mills on the block? I'd take him in a heartbeat

$2 million and maybe 10-15 minutes per game to give Beal a breather. We could do worse.

We could do a lot better too. I'm more interested in reclamation projects that can shoot like Stuckey or Mayo. Or a steady shooter like Belinelli.

not sure I want to give up Sato quite yet. I'm willing to wait another year and actually see him play.

If the Knicks keep striking out on free agents I think they might become interested in Nene. He's an expiring contract which would allow them to be more competitive next year while saving space for 2016. I would love to do Nene for Jerian Grant + filler or something along those lines if they become interested.

We're not getting Grant. Zero reason for them to give up a recent first round pick for a year of Nene. But I'd still see what they might be willing to offer. And then maybe we can use the large TPE to absorb a few players with smaller deals to build the bench.

Maybe Galloway and Hernangomez + what ever it takes to make the money work? I Hope EG can pull something out of his hat like he did last year with the PP signing out of no where.

What about this deal:

Wizards trade Webster+2016 1st for Jason Thompson+2016 OKC 1st (protected 1-15).

I think its assured that OKC will have a better record than the Wiz do, so Philly moves up in the draft. However, Thompson's contract is not garunteed for 2016 while Webster has 2.5 million in garuntees. Philly does the deal to move up in the draft (and give PT to their young bigs), and we get a rotation caliber big man

I had a similar thought, though using a 2nd instead of swapping firsts. I'm pretty sure Thompson's deal has around the same guarantees as Webster's so we shouldnt have to give up much. Heck, Philly could just permanently bench him to get completely out of the last year (which they can afford to do since they are trying to lose) so maybe they should be the ones sending the sweetener.

I was checking Spotrac too see how much money is guaranteed in webbys deal in 2016 and it just says that its non guaranteed in 2016? is it possible that we were mistaken and his deal is completely non guaranteed in 2016?

I thought it was after he misses a certain amount of games, it becomes ungauranteed.... Has he already met that quota? :D

It's guaranteed for at least $2.5 mil.

I thought it was 2.5 as well but it says just Non Guaranteed ? Normally if gives the amount. Has he missed the proper amount of games? It would be nice if it was, then he becomes much more movable !

Could we pull a trade with the Knicks? they seem to be striking out pretty bad? NENE for a Cole Aldrich For about 5 mill or so for a coupe years with team options. This keeps the knicks cap situations good for 2016, we get rid of NENE and we get a good young back up for Gortat.

Cole Aldrich for Nene is another crazily concocted trade idea. He is not a rim protector and is limited offensively. I could understand all these crazy Nene trades for table scraps only make sense if he wasn't in his last yr of his contract.

You're giving away an asset for trash with this idea.

Speaking for myself, the intent is to create a TPE to absorb other guys who might be able to help us. With all the teams throwing around silly money, they will have to unload useful players to make room (which is how we got Dudley). And then some teams won't be as good as expected, so we could also pickup guys at the deadline from underperforming teams eyeing the tax.

Also depends on how you view Nene. I think he's due for a longterm injury, and even healthy he could pout if his role changes to full-time backup C. So I'm more inclined to get anything of value for him now, including a TPE. But I can also understand the other side of it.

If Dallas could really be a landing spot for Nene

Nene and Blair to Dallas
Webster to Brooklyn
Joe Johnson to DC

Would save Brooklyn 20 mil on the cap this year, not to mention luxury tax savings.

Rather than Dallas going for Hibbert for 15 mil they get two bigs, one who played well for them a year ago.

We get Joe Johnson.

Wall/Sessions/Temple
Beal/Oubre
Porter/Dudley
Johnson/West or MLE/Gooden
Gortat/Hump
good basketball.. simple living.

While I think we'd have too many wings I'd prefer a trade like this for Nene over one for Cole Aldrich and David Lee. Now the idea of Joe Johnson would be a decent consolation prize as he'd give us an additional player capable of making plays with the ball in his hands. My thing with Nene is he doesn't need to play more than 24-28 mins a game to be worth his weight as he's normally productive and has been when he's not injured. The idea of dropping Nene and picking up David West is interesting though if they don't go bonkers on the contract.
