We are getting no compensation in return for Gilbert. We have no reason to trade him if we get the 2nd worst contract in the league in return.

I hope there's a plan in place for Shard to be bought out or shipped somewhere else. I don't want to see him in a Wizards uniform. As others have mentioned, you can't get a pick of some sort out of this deal, really? This was one of the worst scenarios I could see in trading Gil. The only thing worse would have been Gil to have another injury and then we were completely stuck with his contract. There's nothing happy or good about this, even if it is a logical financial and cap move.

At least Arenas had some sort of value. LEWIS HAS NONE!!!! No team in the nba wants the 2nd highest paid player in the NBA. WHy would you? We have no cap space now because Lewis makes 3 million more than Arenas. I hate Ernie Grunfeld. I despise him. What he did to Gilbert is insulting. I'm rooting hard for the Magic to win the NBA title if this trade goes through.

I'd trade Lewis to the Bobcats for Diop+Livingston+Diaw right now. Diaw expires a year sooner, Diop sucks, and Livingston can be good here as a backup PG,

Bobcats want to win now, and Lewis could be a stretch 4 for them.

Give it up man. The only GM dumb enough to take on Rashard Lewis without any other compensation in return is Ernie Grunfeld.

This is going to end up as one of the most lopsided trades in NBA history.

Plus, there are reports Gil may waive his player option and make it a team option, making it even more attractive to the Magic and reducing their financial concerns. In that case, it's a really good deal for the Magic.

Screw EG. You just traded for the worst contract in the NBA. I'd rather have done the Hedo+Calderon trade that the Raps fans were proposing. At least Calderon isn't soft.

The man, who made that last second shot against the Bulls, for RASHARD LEWIS!!!!!

Fire ERnie Grunfeld. I'm done with him.

This is about as dumb as benching McNabb to start Grossman. While I would definitely like to see Gil stay I understand if the organization wants to ship him out of town but to trade him for Rashard F'ing Lewis is a slap in the fans face. Last time I felt this pissed about Wizards decision was dumping Webber for Richmond and this is much worse because at least Richmond tried. Lewis is a giant pile of crap and I'm going to have an extremely hard time watching any team with him on it.

Lewis is **** garbage. Sucks this deal makes a lot of sense financially. I'd be perfectly fine with never seeing him suite up for the Wizards.

Can't stand him.

Gilbert is apparently turning the last year's player option into a team option. So, he expires the same time as Lewis. What a cluster crap of a trade. Just terrible! I hate Ernie Grunfeld. You cannot defend this trade. You can't. Alonzo Gee is a better player than Rashard Lewis is, no matter how many 3s he puts up. Guess what, Peja can still shoot too. I'd rather have Peja at SF than Rashard if both had the same contracts.

Ryan Anderson is a better player than Rashard Lewis is. He'll hit as many 3s and he actually rebounds. I know CCJ has like him in the past. Rashard Lewis sucks!!!!!

Yeah, an argument can easily be made that had Grunfeld been fired, and Ted really worked to smooth things over with Arenas. The Wizards could have themselves just as easily benefited from Gil's (possible) generosity in opting out early for the better of the team.

However, the Wizards decided to throw Gil to the curb and start anew. Oh well, more of the same old same I'm afraid.

I'm sure Gilbert will go on to have as much success as any other Wizard/Bullet who was dealt before him.

What about a deal of Lewis+Hinrich for Maggette+Redd (2 seperate trades to work in the CBA)?

Bucks get a true Skiles type player in Hinrich while Lewis gives some outside shooting.

I'd rather see us do nothing than take on Rashard Lewis. He is garbage.

Ted Leonsis is a smart guy. Why can't he broom this gm and find one with HALF A CLUE?!!!?!?!

Other than John Wall, has Ernie acquired us ANYONE who isn't a tweener? We have combo-guards, combo-forwards, and charmin-soft forward-centers... No one on this team for years has been able to play defense outside of Haywood. Our gm has no idea that defense is a necessary ingredient to win championships.

It is time for Ernie to just go away. Maybe he can carpool to the airport with Ralph Friedgen, Gil, & Donovan McNabb...

Gil for Shard is a pretty sad waste of talent. Is the belief here that with Gil gone and Shard replacing him that our chemistry will improve? What exactly do we gain by this again? Unless there's draft picks here, I honestly have no idea why they pull the trigger.

I refuse to believe that Shard is as bad as you all say he is. The guy is still capable of playing at a high level.

We were all waiting for Gilbert to come around and start playing like he used to, but we don't have the patience for Shard?

Sure, he doesn't fit in with Howard and Thornton at the 3, but he did play the 2 in Orlando when it was he and Turk out there.

It probably won't happen, but a big lineup doesn't seem all too bad:

McGee/Seraphin
Blatche/Booker
Howard/Thornton
Lewis/Young
Wall/Hinrich
19-13 on game threads
