Re: 2012 NBA Draft - Part V
That was the immediate implication of the news but if we're going to be optimistic about things you might guess he just really doesn't want to play for the Kings, which isn't that outlandish.

Also I was watching some clips of Gilchrist and to me the guy plays like D-Wade when he was at Marquette, with him being between 6'5 and 6'7 do you guys think he could be a good fit at SG next to Wall?
News flash - the measurements are in. http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-dra ... os=0&sort=
I know what his measurements are which is why I put him at being between 6'5 and 6'7. Most players only add 1 inch when the put their shoes on and are measured, Gilchrist had some type of shoes that gave him a full two inches. Either those are a pair of namebrand kicks most don't know about or he may have grabbed the one pair that would make him considerably taller, question is does he always play with those 2 inch soled shoes, if not he'll probably be listed about 6'6, hence my typing he's somewhere in between 6'5 and 6'7.

but adding another shooter in beal would probably be ideal.
FYI Singleton shot better from 3 as a rookie than Ariza has in any season of his career.

Also told that prior to making the deal with New Orleans... Washington and Portland talked extensively about swapping 3 for 6 and 10
Interesting.

Hmmmm, who does Portland want so-badly that they would give-up 6 & 10 for 3?

I'm guessing they would have picked MKG, freeing them up to trade Batum. Their GM said something to the effect of him wanting to consolidate assets to acquire better assets. He wants stars.
I don't see the Wiz wanting to do a 1 for 2 trade - now that they just added 2 veterans to the roster.

I've heard that a lot of teams have been trying to trade up for Beal. I'm nbot sure if POR is one of them though.
I'd be all for this trade.

Are future starting line up is John at pg, Beal at sg,Ariza at sf,Nene at pf, and Okafor at center. That's a pretty good line up.

The East has improved so much (Miami, Chicago, Philly, Atlanta, Indy, etc), I am not sure that squad is good enough for a #8 seed. But, as eternal optimist nate says, the off-season has just begun

I could see them doing this deal but not until they know that either Barnes, Beal, or MKG would be available at 6.
If Robinson goes #2, we can draft whomever Portland wants us to condition that who we like is available at 6. Given that is pretty much a toss up between Beal/ Barnes/ MKG, we should be happy with whomever we take at 3, even if the trade down falls through. Sacramento is the key. Hopefully they get enfatuated with Drummond.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft - Part V
Barnes due to his relationship with Kylie Irving will most likely go fourth posssibly over beal but that may be moot. I would do the sixth pick and tenth pick for the third pick personally. Many good players will still be available at both those spots. Davis, thomas, mkg, beal, Barnes means at the very least Drummond will be available if the team likes him and since most project he will go to Sacramento it's likely one of those other previous five players I mentioned would still be available.
It also indicates with The activity we had with new Orleans that've maybe targeting someone in that range. So that will be an interesting thing to follow and research

Yes, because we need more girth up front...
All sarcasm aside, I do agree that Emperor Ernie should have demanded #10 from NOH, but that is water under the bridge now. I think that trading for Portland's 2 picks may be moot at this point (unless Randy Foye is back on the market).

Re: 2012 NBA Draft - Part V
I assume Drummond will be gone by the sixth. It's interesting we worked out Drummond and rivers who should be available at the 6thand 11th slot respectively. Why didwe work put Austin rivers unless we are considering he and players in that range. I would not be surprised by this trade but it likely wouldn't happen till draft day after the 11th pick ismade to make sure we get the players we want
Another thing about this trade is if we picking for someone else then eg doesn't have to worry a out us presumably showing our hand by getting emeka and ariza this early because we'll be drafting for another teams needs.

Beal is really looking like the pick, but if the Wizards feel MKG is the better player, I hope they take him. Talent should win out here, but all other things being equal, Beal is clearly the best player at our position of need to correct our outside shooting woes.

maybe there is some hidden deal to this big trade that people are missing. doesnt make sense to add so many bigs. something "big" is going to happen soon.

I think so also and the odd man out is Trevor booker wont be shocked if Crawford or booker were to be traded on draft night.

Yes, the rational mind still try's to make-sense of this trade. I think we're all just waiting to see if we have some semblance of a balanced roster after draft-night.

It's gonna be Barnes or Beal at 3, I believe. I'm pretty sure they feel Ariza can play 2 or 3.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft - Part V
I think it's a mortal lock the Wizards are taking Beal at #3 based on everything I've read.
Charlotte isn't seriously considering Beal. Only way Beal doesn't end up in the Wizards uniform is if a team trades up to #2 to take him.
Barnes is our fallback in that case.
I can live with Beal. Wouldn't have been my choice. I'm crushed were not getting MKG. I had really gotten my hopes up.
But if Beal turns out to be the next Mitch Richmond, I'll be quite happy.
