Looks like one of Kuzma’s suitors is bowing out.
Houston or bust.
Houston or bust.

Hope we get a sign and trade opportunity. The less suitors with cap space, the better.

Kuz in a sign and trade to LA with ayton coming back to us
Lakers: Kuz 22+ a year or more.
Suns: Beasley, Bamba, Gallo.
Wiz: Ayton.
Ayton makes a bit more money so I don't know if sending out Gallo in that deal is enough since sign and trades are tricky.
The suns have been interested in dumping Ayton for depth I'd love to pick him up.

Both already waived.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLV
One of the best things about the Wizards' reset/new front office is that it makes this place so much more fun. Our own transactions and possible transactions around the league are now something worth thinking about. Harden opting in and wants to be traded - can we be third team and get some picks/young talent while eating some garbage contracts? What kind of S&T can we dream up for Kuzma? What are the value of Morris/Wright/Jones around the league? How much is it worth trying to get our R1 pick back from the Knicks?
The reason we are all here is not just that we are fans, but we care about the process of the NBA. Operating with the boat-anchor of Beal's NTC deal ruined that for me. I'm overjoyed to get to read everyone's creative ideas on how to acquire assets and build toward something better than the play-in.

100% agree! This is so much more fun than mediocrity
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLV
Maybe we can get in on this Harden to Clippers ?
Clips don’t have much to send back to Philly for a win now mode team. Maybe something like Kuz (S&T) + Monte to Philly, Harden to LA, Expirings + 1st round pick to Wizards.

Duarte traded to Kings for draft comp.
Looks like the Kings are definitely not going to make a move for Kuzma.

Master Class in being a trash team.
The Kings traded Holmes, 24, and a future 2nd for Duarte and ~6M in cap space... How F'n terrible is that.
The only way they can/could have made this worthwhile, is if they extend Sabonis and give him a bonus this year with cap space to lower his cap hit in 2024 & 25. This would get them to 30M+ in either 24 or 25 to sign a FA... but this still doesnt make sense.

A S&T for Kuzma with Houston would be awesome. Is there any reason for Houston to do this given the cap space they have?
I wonder if there is a larger package?

Might disagree a bit on this. It allows them to resign Trey Lyles and keep that unit in play.
I think that they are a backup C or rim protecting PF away from getting to the WCF.

I’d rather get Monte Morris and Wright to Brooklyn. Both would be a real solid fits here.
What would be a realistic offer?

Huh?!?
1) Trey Lyles has been on 5 teams in 7 years and averaged 7 & 4 for you'll last year. Why would there be any issues retaining him?
2) Maybe you need a backup 5/rim protecting 4 because.... you JUST TRADED AWAY Holmes.
The Kings could have kept Holmes, resigned Lyles & Barnes, and moved forward with their pick and the Full MLE. What am I missing?

2 second round picks for each. At least that is what I am guessing. The problem is we have to take players back.
We don't want Dinwiddie or Harris. So this makes it unlikely for a trade to happen...

I don't know if it's trash team per se, but I agree with the premise that they mismanaged their assets here.

For both?
How about the Both for the TPE from the Harris trade + 2026 2nd + lowest of your 2027 1st (Yours, Philly, Suns)

Basically, it appears that Winger/Dawkins only really value draft capital.
How about we give you Morris & Wright plus 2 R2 picks, & you give us 2 R1 picks?

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLV
Note that my scheme is about the same value-wise as pcbothwei's -- in my version you wind up with 3 more R2 picks (2 from us & the 1 you don't send us) & 1 fewer R1 pick.
I think this makes more sense, because we have a ton of R2 picks already, which somewhat devalues your '26 R2 pick for us (we can only add so many rookies a year!).
