Re: 2012 NBA Draft
Finally took a look at Robinson in action... I like.
NBA ready body, seems to be a high IQ two-way player, rebounds well and actually hustles to get boards, good athletecism, good footwork under the basket and a nice touch around the rim
The only knock i can think of is MAYBE he is undersized at the next level. Ill wait to see the combine measurements, but my eyes say he looks a legit 6'9" on the court at least.
If the balls don't bounce our way, I'd be super happy with him as a consolation prize.
NBA comparison? NBAdraft.net says Derrick Williams/Humphries hybrid. That seems pretty spot on. Like a Blake Griffin lite? oldschool McDyess?

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft
As for Anthony Davis filling out or not... he's never going to be beefy. I think hes on the cusp of being an ectomorph. He has wide shoulders... I think it will take him a couple of years of dedicated weight training and a strict diet but I think his frame will bulk up a little similar to what Garnett did. He's not going to be rail thin his entire career like Durant will be.
He'll bulk up more than Vesely thats for sure.

Watching this game this guy Withey is playing well. Don't know if he could be a 2nd round candidate.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft
We are not going to win the ping pong ball battle. As bad as we are, we're no where near the level of suckitude that Charlotte is. We were early on, but we've improved with Blatche and Lewis getting little to no minutes.
We're going to lock horns with New Orleans, New Jersey, and Detriot, it looks like, for 2nd worse team.

Charlotte really needs to get DJ Augustin back, and in a hurry before they pull away from us. Kemba has been chucking them out of games.

I'm sold on Robinson- he's in my top 2 or 3.
On the tanking front, it looks like the Hornets won tonight, so whoever said that Kaman might mess up their tank might be onto something. Also Maggette is back for Charlotte, so hopefully he can cost them a few ping pong balls.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft
I would love to see Harrison Barnes with Wall, I think Barnes could manage at least 17-18ppg in his first year and walls apg to go up at least another assist per game. Plus it would seriously spread the floor and give us a great EFFICIENT scorer!

NOH beat Utah last night. With Chris Kamen finally shaking-off off the cob-webs, I think NOH will begin to put a little bit of distance between themselves and the bottom-feeders.
We will continue to be in the bottom-5 unless John and really turned the corner with his shooting and all-round game.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft
To me at least it really feels like we'll be no better than 27th best in the league. I think we are a lock for top 4 worst, emphatically, which means at worst the 7th pick, and I think it's most likely we'll finish in the top 5 come draft day, and hopefully anywhere in that top 3. Im feeling pretty good with my projections now as so far I've nailed february I think (projected 2-9 preceeding the kings game next week, and so far that projection looks on point considering the road trip). As long as we're top 5 i feel fine as I can see 5 or 6 guys i can live with, 7th would really, really suck though. I definitely think we'll be in it to the finish, and right now its the hornets, bobcats, us and the pistons and I think the hornets and bobcats both have greater potential for improvement than us (or even for that matter, the kings who could fall back). I think we'll stay all season in that 1st, 2nd, or 3rd worst area. My only fear is the final 12 game stretch where we're gifted a pile up of games against squads that are total arse like us (Detroit, 2 vs cleveland, 2 versus charlotte, and a game against the Nets). The saving grace is that 4 of them are road, and half of them are in the midst of back to backers, only the home and home with charlotte and the road game versus cleveland come with rest. Still, that stretch is alarming, because its every bit possible for the team to go 5-7 or 6-6 or 4--8 there, and turn a 9-45 record into a 15-51 final record or something worse like an 11-43 record into 17-49. A drop from 1st or 2nd worst in the tank battle to 3rd or 4th with that schedule is anything but inconceivable. Again though, the postives are that it isn't terribly user friendly in winning in terms of how compacted the games are in scheduling, and the road aspect.
I think come April 27th when we're watching the NFL draft to see if we're getting RG3, or finding weapons for a Matt Flynn or Peyton Manning, the Wizards will be comfortably in that 12-54 to 15-51 area and slotted in at 1st to 3rd worst overall.

The Consiglieri wrote:Yep, Robinson got a ton of run in December and January. People have cooled a little when considering his relative lack of impact till this year compared to people whove left an imprint immediately (what does it mean that he couldn't make a dent till now, the strength and depth of Kansas' rotation and starters (several guys drafted 1st round), or does it suggest that he simply isn't at that level (or wasn't?) that demanded starters minutes from day 1 like an Anthony Davis, .
My understanding is that Thomas Robinson basically looks like the same player this year. His per minute numbers haven't improved by much. He is just getting more time because the Morris twins are in the NBA.
Regarding NO, it would really help us if Gordon would come back from his injury, but he is going to have his knee scoped and is supposed to be out another 6 weeks
Charlotte is going to be worse than we are. The best we can hope for is second worse, but I can see behind NO, Charlotte and Detroit, in the lotto, if we make a poorly timed late season run.

Yeah, I actually would have liked to have seen Robinson's numbers improve more - particularly in to's and blocks. I like that his foul shooting has improved a lot - though it's still poor. One thing that impressed me last night was his interior passing - when he got double-teamed, he recognized it, and quickly got the ball to Withey for good looks inside - showing a better BBIQ than I've seen in other games.

Funny. If anything I cooled slightly on Robinson after watching some of the
game last night. His defensive effort seemed lackluster to me. Just one game
and I'm not going to draw any firm conclusions about it.

Just stay away from Drummond and PJ3, and I'll be fine with anyone that's not a reach in the range the Wizards will be picking.

I think that's the basic philosophy of most here, although some are equally uncomfortable with drafting Sully and/or Barnes (but not to the same degree).

Yeah, I meant to say his body of work prior to this game- last night was definitely not his best effort. By the time I started watching in the 2nd half he was in foul trouble and out of synch, which is usually when he starts to physically take his opponent apart.
I still take him ahead of any of the wing players, and behind only Davis, MAYBE Drummond (still don't know where to put him), and DeMarcus Cousins- I bring him up because I would still like to trade the pick to get him, although this probably wouldn't be popular with anyone on this board, and probably still wouldn't be enough to get him from the Kings either.

Just finished watching Booker's little bro beat VA... Sullinger on @ 9 is a good warm up for the Wizards late game tonight!

As a Clemson alum who watches as many games as possible, he's the most frustrating basketball player I've ever watched. He might have better physical gifts than his brother, but has motivation and work ethic issues worse than Blatche.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft
Lets say, hypothetically, the age limit for draftees was taken away and highschoolers were eligible again, and Drummond was a highschooler this year.
Would that change anything?
He is often compared to Amar'e who was drafted out of highschool. So was Dwight, Garnett etc.
Could we be wrong about Drummond based on his college play? Could he be better in the NBA?

Beal showed some good athleticism dunking on an opposing center tonight. We really need another 1st rounder.
Sit back and watch WALL WORK!! >:-)
