Think Dawkins got peak value since it sounds like Gafford is coming off the bench.
Lively is just better.

That doesn't devalue Gafford one bit. As long as Lively is on a rookie deal, Gafford is a luxury they can afford.

..and Dallas has played the two together effectively, at some point they will use Lively as a stretch big too and Gafford will be protecting the rim. Win-win
At one point, Gafford made 33 consecutive FGs without a miss. That is second only to Wilt Chamberlain. He led the NBA in FG% this season.

Regardless of how the deal works out for Washington, it certainly has been good for Dallas.

I’m pretty sure Lively and Gafford have not been on the court at the same time. Neither of them can make a shot from beyond 3 feet.

Gafford/Lively were played together during the playoffs quite effectively, against Minny anyway.
It is absolutely false that DL cannot shoot beyond 3 feet, they just haven’t incorporated his shooting yet, but we got a glimpse of it when he shot 2-4 3’s during the playoffs. Here is his pre-draft workout where he is clearly shooting the ball and quite comfortable from range.
Wow. Lively can hit threes just like Angel Reese can hit threes. Take a look into a crystal ball. That shot will be in the repertoire once the player gets comfortable and the coaches loosen the reigns.

What a player can do and what a controlling coach will allow are often different. Egos and system ball have held players back.

I think Lively is not going to be held back.

I wouldn't have taken Lively over Bilal, but he was my 2d choice at that spot for sure.

Maybe he can teach Gaff to shoot? :)
From the looks of that YouTube, I'd take Lively over Bilal and over Sarr.

Great point.

How is that?

How on earth can he splash threes in workouts but miss free throws?

He could help fill that void, and his return could be a positive marketing move for their fans.

That's not going to happen as long as Draymond is there.
The way Green punched him out, it had to be difficult for Poole to remain happy being employed by the Warriors.

I think the Wizards need to change what they will accept for Kuzma

Instead of insisting on two FRPs, how about just 1 FRP and the trade partner agrees to take Johnny Davis?

We shall see...can not think of any scenarios except being part of:

1) A Kuzma trade package to LAL in which they send us Rui+Vincent and we send them Kuzma+Jones (S&T) + draft compensation. This scenario would imply absorbing 2 years of Vincent's money, so LAL better offer 2 1sts at the minimum..
2) A ORL trade, where we send Jones (S&T) + Kispert for Cole Anthony+Houstan+1 1st (DEN 20251st or ORL 2026 1st).

Any other ideas?

That would be terrible.

I'm not sure if I'd trade Kispert straight up for that DEN 1st, so I definitely wouldn't include the downgrade of a Tyus for Anthony swap when we don't even need or want Anthony's salary on the books.

Don't disagree. But would they bite on a Jones S&T for Anthony + DEN 1st? Most probably we have to send a couple of 2nds their way...

I'd do Tyus plus a late SRP for Anthony plus the DEN 2025 pick.

After a good '22-23, Anthony had something of an off year last season. But, he's 4 years younger than Tyus Jones, & I wonder whether Orlando would go for that offer -- even though Jones is the better player.

I like what our front office is doing- holding steady at 2 first round picks for Kuz. Why rush? Why under-value? We are in the drivers seat. We will get our price…just a matter of time.

Orlando would be interesting for either Tyus Jones or Brogdon. I'd take Cole Anthony and a late first for either. Even seconds would be fine I guess at this point. They also have Jett Howard who probably won't get many minutes and was a recent lotto pick. Maybe something bigger with these guys, involving picks and Corey Kispert? Then we bring back Robin Ficker to start booing Juwan's kid and we call it 90s night.

And if they were only consistent. Why the rush on moving Deni?

Huh? If their price for moving Deni was the same (2 FRP's) and Portland met that price...I don't see the inconsistency. It's not "rushing" if you put a price out there and somebody meets it. Of course folks are welcome to disagree with the trade but turning every element of every conversation into "oh yeah, what about Deni" will make for a long offseason and season.

ESPN: "In other news, Ted Leonsis is having trouble working with DC government on the proposed arena renovations."

Us: "Why didn't they think to get a new arena back in the Deni trade? That's what a good GM would have done instead of rushing. Deni actually took shop in HS, maybe he could have done the renovations himself if they would have given him more time to develop!"

You're welcome to disagree with the asking price but make the argument about that, not "rushing". I get that folks are sour on the trade, but every conversation can't devolve into "oh yeah, what about Deni" or this will be a very looooong season.

Okay, I see your point. I guess if it is "any" 2 FRPs, they are consistent. So, if they get the 30th pick in the '29 & '31 drafts, you are pretty good with that.

And thanks for the rant - pretty entertaining, I like the strawman.
