I tossed up some of the Ridnour-to-WAS ideas up on the Wolves Board.

viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1153368

You might want to wait a couple days to make offers though. Ridnour had the game of his life last night (25 points, 10-14, 4 three's, 9 assists), so posters may over-value him right now.

Question on David Lee.

Why has his shooting percentage torpedoed? Is he shooting a lot more from the perimeter than he was in NYK? For the money we'd pay, we'd obviously want much closer to the player he was in NY than he is in GSW...

^ Torpedoed? He dropped a few percentage points when he moved from the bench to the starting role early in his career. But his last year with the Knicks he shot .545 from the field, and this year he's at .527 so I'm not seeing a significant drop off.

Where he has dropped off is FT%. He's down around 8 points. If he can get that backup to the high 70's he'll be a solid 20/10 guy. He's basically Jamison with more size. I'd love to have him on the Wiz, but I don't see GSW dealing him right now.

it would have to be a McGee for Williams type of deal. With them playing better ball they may not want to shake things up, although they might be intrigued with pairing McGee next to Love. Fortunately McGee has raised his value to the point where it would be more of a 1 for 1 type of deal. That all being said, I still don't see them trading Williams this early on.

Why do I have a sick feeling that because of this backboard dunk and worry about McGee's extension that we're going to deal him and hold onto Dray? Hopefully this won't be a poor man's 2nd coming of getting rid of Webber & keeping Howard....

I still want to keep McGee because his shot blocking & ability to alter shots is not replaceable. I'd listent to trade offers but it would have to be a young prospect with high upside we're getting in return....

If you trade Javale for Williams and their 1st, they would probably make the playoffs so to the pick would be in 14-18 range. Would you do this trade?

The player to move at this point is Nick Young. Dray is at his lowest possible value and McGee still could be a piece to a winning team here down the road. Nick though seems to be playing out the string and hasn't gotten ""it". He's more interested in playing for stats, and his lack of foot speed and versatility make him someone I wouldn't necessarily want here long-term. I thought his shooting could overcome a lot of that but he's been erratic in that department as well.

McGee is a rare and valuable resource - an athletic two-way center.

Given the density of high-potential forwards in this draft, I don't think I'd trade him unless we were blown away by the offer.

Thompson is not going to be offered an extension by the Kings. I've seen a few games of his and he could be a decent pick & pop guy. Considering we have little behind Dray & McGee upfront he could be a good cheap find.

Derrick Williams may be available, but he'd still cost an arm-and-a-leg.

There's a reason why historically you almost never see a player selected with a lottery pick traded in his first year. Fans love the guy, and see him as how he may be, not what his likely value is. GM's want to believe they've made the best choice.

Nobody in MIN is the slightest bit down on Derrick Williams. We see him developing great chemistry alongside Rubio, and his contract is a welcome fit too. He has tremendous athleticism and the ability to shoot three's with ease. If Rubio wasn't stealing all the spotlight, trading Williams would not even be considered. I don't think MIN would trade him for McGee, so there's probably not an offer between the teams that each side would like.

Agreed, especially since they would also have to turn around and pay McGee right away. If I'm them and I'll have to pay him anyway, I'd rather just keep my asset and bid on McGee in the offseason.

Besides, I don't see McGee as an Adelman-type 5. He just doesn't have the BBIQ or the consistent mid-range jumpshot. Unless Adelman has changed his offense to be less about the bigs in the high post and more about the screen/roll with the PG distributing, in which case McGee would be more valuable as a Chandler-type with Rubio setting him up for easy baskets. Even then I still don't see Minny making the deal, much less adding any sweetener.

LyricalRico wrote:Definitely like the Ridnour+Johnson idea, although I'm not sure we could come up with enough value for that package. I am also intrigued by Thompson. Problem is that trading for him is going to take minutes from Vesely. As for the Celtics trade ideas, I don't think they trade for Blatche because of the contract.

But if we combined all of them...

Wiz trade: Blatche+Crawford+Mack
Wiz receive: Garcia+Ridnour

Kings trade: Garcia+Thompson
Kings receive: Blatche

Wolves trade: Ridnour+Johnson
Wolves receive: JO+Mack+BOS 1st

Celtics trade: JO+1st
Celtics receive: Thompson+Crawford+Johnson

We get reliable veteran backups, Sacto gets a possible upgrade at PF and a contract that is in line with others on their cap, Minny shaves cap and gets a first, and Boston adds a number of young players.

Would the Kings maybe prefer to land Johnson? he could be sold as their future SF.

Wolves probably wouldnt want Blatche, but he would be intrigueing to pair alongside Love at Centre. By intrigueing I mean in the same way that its hard to look away from a car accident when you go past.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Well Minny certainly kicked the tires on a deal over the summer. Not sure which side backed away but there were reports of Minny's brass really liking McGee a lot. And it's not like McGee has regressed since the year began. Statistically he's been the Wizards best player by any measure.

Not sure if a pick would be in play. I don't think there's a great deal of difference in terms of value. McGee has his warts but there's no denying he's improving, he's productive and he's a rare commodity as a legit center. A McGee / Love pairing certainly is a better fit logistically as opposed to Love / Williams were one or the other is going to play out of position. (I think Williams is more of a 4).

I agree with you, but these trades always take place when it's just a pick, not after an actual player puts on the uniform of the fan's favorite team, and visions of superstars start dancing in their heads.

There was also some talk about #2 for #6 + #18 + #34. Don't think it flies now though.

Interesting thought about the Kings possible interest in Johnson. Maybe cut out Boston and try to work a 3-way? I just don't know what Minny would want from the available WAS/SAC players.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21 ... _On_Pierce

With the Celtics struggling to begin the 11-12 season, several teams have inquired about the availability of Paul Pierce.

One Eastern Conference official said, there are “lots of calls asking if [Boston] will blow it up.”

Pierce has two years and $32 million left on his contract through the 13-14 season. Trading Pierce would allow the Celtics to become players in free agency.

Very tempting but I say they should stay the course for now. I need more cow bell. 10 more games. I think things are going to start looking better. They about to beat the Celtics in a few day. Win number will feel good.

Latest DAldridge report is that McGee will be seeking as the same 4 yr/$43 million deal D Jordan received. Personally, I don't think McGee is worth this amount given the holes in his game which he has yet to develop. And I don't want to be like the Clippers who probably regret already that they overpaid for deandre based on his play so far this season. And word is Wiz are gonna see where market is for him this summer before commiting..I believe someone will overpay for McGee based on his potential, and I dont' think it will be us. Accepting this fact, why not try to trade him now for a team like Portland, who could use him..

How bout a McGee/Singleton for Camby/Batum/ Portland 2012 pick? Seems like win win for both teams.

Not a good deal. Two young players for basically Batum? McGee alone is too much for Batum. And you don't want to pay McGee but want to turn around and pay Batum?

McGee has holes but he is a rare commodity. A legit center who averages a double double and leads the league in blocks. He's on the Wiz who are a bad so we knock him. On any other team he would be viewed as an untouchable. You can't find centers!...They're just not out there. Look at how much worse Dallas looks without Chandler. You either re-sign McGee or trade him for a young big-time prospect. You don't trade him and a good looking SF prospect for Nicolas Batum.

How is McGee not worth what DJ got? He's way better than Jordan, and has shown improvement every year. We need to do everything we can to retain him. If we let him go, it'll set the rebuild back years.
