I hope we don’t have to give up 18 for moving up to four

The issue with Ace to me is that beyond whatever you think of his draft process and rumored immaturity, he just doesn't have any shake to his game. He can handle the ball decently well but he doesn't really go anywhere with it and doesn't really have that innate ability to fake players out. As a result his self-creation is mostly made up of contested fadeaways, which is a great thing to have in your bag but a terrible thing to be your primary option.

I still think he's a fine gamble at #6 given this class is what it is, but I think Miller had a lot more going for him at the time.

Like even watching that now famous Giannis/Harper/Ace workout, you had two players that looked convincing with their moves and then you had Ace. Granted Giannis is probably the #2 player in the league and Harper is considered a tier above Ace, but still.

Watching the pre draft show. Apparently Ace was the first to commit to Rutgers and recruited Harper to follow him.

My final & official hope for the draft ....

At 6 my top choices would be Carter Bryant or Ace Bailey. I'll also be pretty excited if its Fears.

I'll be mildly disappointed if its Tre Johnson or Kon.

At 18 I want Asa Newell, Queen or Sorber. I would also be happy with Beringer.

My disappointment would be if we trade away 18 to move up from 6.

If this is accurate, I don't think we should try to outbid. Take Maluach or Johnson and call it a day.

I don’t see where Tre Johnson fits into our future.

Couli, Bub, George and Tre would be a log jam at the guard where none are great primary ball handlers.

We need to figure out who Charlotte wants most and then signal that that’s the guy we want at #6.

We can also offer #6 and the 2026 OKC pick.

He's a scorer and shotmaker. We don't really have that guy on our team. I love Bub and George and Bilal. But they're not at the level that most think Tre would be in terms of just scoring...

George isn't a guard. I would say he is closer to a 4 than a 2. I don't like Bilal at the 2 either.

We need talent. Tre would be our best young prospect by a wide margin. It isn't a question how he would fit with us. He is a pure 2 guard. The question would be how do the other guys fit around him.

Bilal and George are forwards. Or they certainly will be once they fill out. In fact, with Poole gone, we don’t really have a pure SG. Tre would fit just fine.

I get not liking him. But don’t rule him out based on fit.

I think I would try for:
6 and 18 for 4 and 33.

I think if our board says Bailey is the #2 to #4 in this class, as he was the #2 recruit 18 months ago according to all services, that, for me anyway, puts him miles ahead of everyone else who will be available at 6 other than maybe Maluach, who wasn't even ranked by most services (I think I saw him top 5 or 10 according to one service).

Addendum: To be fair, I should also note that Tre Johnson was the consensus #4 to #5 prospect on virtually every recruiting list I saw for the '24 recruiting class.

If Ace is your guy Ace is your guy. He's only worked out with one team. They flew to him for the workout. We are leaving the draft with Ace. One way or another.

Positionless basketball is where it's at. Everything else will sort itself out.
