Re: Big Balls traded to Boston for (almost) NOTHING
I'm struggling to find any rationale, and sense, any reason whatsoever for this trade and I can't find it. Even the "Avoid Luxtax Theory" doesn't make sense. Prior to the trade, the Wizards were in position to have a payroll of $62.7M next year (assuming a #5 pick). That's for 11 players. Add in two 2nd round picks and a full MLE deal for Webster (which is probably overpaying) and that only gets us to $68.8M. The luxtax threshold is $70.3M. WE COULDN'T HAVE EXCEEDED THE LUXTAX EVEN IF WE TRIED!
Shaving Crawford's $2.16M salary commitment makes no difference whatsoever.
Another head-scratcher in a long line of senseless moves. Again, this is a minor move so it's probably not a big deal, but it's yet another example of how EG squanders minor assets. This is like dumping the #46 pick, or signing Yi, or the drafting of Satoranski, or trading the Memphis pick for Crittenton. All those little failures add up.

Leandro and Jason play the game the right way. They will be stabilizing influences in the locker room. And they're pieces that will mix well with our young talent to help us improve in our future. Welcome Leandro and Jason to the team.
The funny thing is that these two won't be on the team after this yr.

It's the tip of the iceberg, as far as I'm concerned. These failures really show the lack of attention to detail that a GM needs. This mindset must trickle down to every part of the organization.

I was just skimming the recent posts, and no joke, I thought that pine's post actually was the real Ted's Take on this trade, until I saw this follow up post

There's got to be more to this deal than has been reported. It makes no sense otherwise.

Ya can't understand why we couldn't at least get back a freakin 2nd rounder here..... And to think a month ago I was highlighting Crawford as the prize in a Derrick Williams trade package

Re: Big Balls traded to Boston for (almost) NOTHING
Scratching my head a bit on this one. I guess Ted just wanted to eliminate a contract and this was the one he could? But ultimately, Crawford's presence doesn't make or break the team so I'm not worried about it. If the theories of him doing something unforgivable in the locker room or practice are true, then the message dumping him sends to the rest of the team could actually end up being more valuable than a late second round pick or any cash considerations.
Hey, if Crawford ends up helping the Celtics, maybe we can call in a favor from Ainge in the offseason.

That's some solid turd polishing you did there. Impressive.

Re: Big Balls traded to Boston for (almost) NOTHING
a) The list of other trades ahead of the Wizards' trade on the wiretap is depressing. Anthony Morrow, Erick Maynor, even JJ Reddick.
b) The picture on the wiretap for us is Ainge with the biggest grin ever photographically recorded. He's practically pulling the Jordan shrug from the '92 playoffs.
c) How on earth is KG going to tolerate JC?

The Wizards got the Clippers' 2015 2nd rounder. That wasn't a bad deal since it was just a 25-game rental of Young.

If I had a penny for every time that's been said about an EG trade, I would own my own NBA franchise.

It's actually Charlotte's 2015 2nd round pick (which the Clippers had somehow previously acquired).

they'll have wiggins or parker by then, so it prolly won't be as useful to us.

Actually, it's the New Orleans pick. Which really sucks because by then, they'll be a playoff team
