No it isn't, the 14th pick in a ---- draft is not a quality pick, and the '29 pick is 5 years from now and could be the 29th pick for all we know. Basically the only thing locked in, is that we got a mid 1st in a draft regarded as medal stand worthy for the worst drafts of the 21st century.

Avdija, to me, is not a guy you build a team around. I don't think it's very likely Washington has any of those guys right now, so to me, getting a couple 1st and 2nd round picks for him is fine. I get the frustration though; it's going to be another very long season in DC, though I don't think Avdija would have saved us from that fate anyways.

Having said all that, I do feel like there's a decent chance he could have returned more value a year from now.
I could see Edey being the pick at 14.

I'm hoping for Holland or Holmes.

I expect the Grizzlies to take Edey at 9

Drafting Edey with the pick would be a bit of rug pull to reveal there was no floor underneath.

Initial reaction, that's it?

I'm waiting to see what they get in the draft though

I just don't get it. Kuzma I get , Kispert ok... But Deni was our best player, still very young, on a good contract. Shouldn't that be a building block??

And package effing Kuz with that 26 for some real value.

Why so fixated on Edey? We have no idea what their priority is w/the picks. Pinning your hopes on a specific guy in the teens or 20's is a guaranteed way to be sad. We almost never draft who you guys want with picks outside the "patently obvious" zone.

That's exactly where I am too. Of course nobody knows what their vision is, but a pairing of Sarr and Edey on paper seems extremely strong.

Edey is the only player in that 14th pick range that feels like, if drafted, would have somewhat of an offsetting effect of losing Deni.

I'm highly skeptical that guy is anything beyond a specific situational guy, I'm hunting big ceilings and risky floors w/it in this draft, I'm not looking for bench fodder. Swing for the fences, hope for the best, hit, and we get an elite player, miss, and it helps the tank.

Maybe it's another case of defense doesn't matter. Building around Kuzma, Kispert, and Poole . . . going to be a one sided year.

I’m a Bub fan as well, but if somehow Topic fell here, no-brainer pick.

I’m taking Carrington over Topic. Bub is a much better shooter and defender.

That's the only rationale I've been able to wrap my mind around. But, how certain can they be that Edey will still be there? & if not...?

Again, the whole point is to suck and we will. Maybe they are hoping and praying that Cooper Flagg will be their pick in 2025 and then you surround him with shooters. Or Ace or Harper. IDK. Trying to figure this sh-t out.

If we can trade Broaden for ballast and a first at the deadline then the trade is a little more palatable. Big if though.

Time for another sabbatical from the Wiz - perhaps this time until Turd sells the organization.

The optimism of the new leadership has quickly evaporated. Looking back in a few years - Deni will be better than all but 2 or 3 players in this draft.

Screams to me an ego move by Dawkins and Winger to build something with the players they personally drafted.

The recent David Aldridge report just aligns with this notion.

I can't think of any other reason to give up on a player in Deni's profile for such return.

David Aldridge's take was very very poor - and if it does align with the Wiz notion - even more reason to dismiss Dawkins and Winger
