Lakers just lost at Home to the Grizzlies despite Kobe scoring 53. Insane. That can't bode well for our next game against them on Sunday. Could the team that many consider to be a Championship contender lose back to back home games against the Grizzlies and Wizards respectively? :o

That really is shocking considering that the Lakers are desperate for every win they can get while Memphis has been in tank mode since January.

Make it back to back to back.

They lost to the Bobcats before they lost to Memphis.

Wizards will catch them on a 2-game slide.

The Lakers were clearly looking ahead to the showdown against their mortal enemy from the East: your favorite juggernaut, the Washington Wizards.

They can't win without Pau and Bynum. Their frontcourt is too weak. Turiaf is good, but who else do they have? Odom is not a down low player, he is just an oversized guard.

I say if we drive it to the hoop sunday, we can get the W.

You are learning **** grasshopper...

I love checking back into these game threads to watch the roller coaster in retrospect. Comebacks are what this team does. A set back is a set up for a comeback, understand: they're built for drama. Might as well get used to it & enjoy the ride, because it's bound to happen every night. Even on nights when it's supposed to be easy (seattle, not Sactown at home) they won't let you relax. Got to keep in the win or die hard mode to keep sharp.

the problem is that against a good tea, those comebacks won't happen. good teams play consistently.

Especially if it's on the road against a really good "tea", like say a Boston "tea", and say like we're down by 14 or so with 6 and change to go.

A comeback is just not possible.

Very true. While it's frustrating to watch them drag against inferior teams in the 1st half, it's also impressive to see that sense of urgency come - that refusal to losal - even when it's against the sad Sacs of the Ass...ociation. <no offense to Kings fans>

Maybe they lost because he scorer 53. What were the other players doing?

I don't care if they won or lost. It's one game either way. We have as good a chance to win as we have regardless of what they did yesterday.

If CB is back and AJ is on and Haywood has a good game early, and the rest do what they do - DS, Mason, Songaila, AD etc, we can beat them. With this team healthy, we have beaten the best - even in BACK TO BACK.

We will also need a well coached game by EJ.

DCZards, you'll probably read this after the game but I'm not oversimplifying it or looking at the Wizards through a magnifyinjg glass. The coach is foolish not to play Haywood more.

This is a poorly coached game and the team plays next to no defense without Haywood.

You're right, CCJ, I don't read the game thread during the game. There's just too much drama and negativity on the thread for my taste.

I did think of you, however, when EJ put DSong in for BH with about two minutes left in the game. I could hear you all the way from Hawaii screaming for EJ's head, as usual, for benching BH at crunch time. Then DSong hits two timely shots (on great passes from CB) that effectively seal the win, proving that EJ got it right.

Rather than sitting at home on my butt second-guessing every move they make, I personally like to leave the game planning, substitution patterns, play calling and other stuff like that to the coaching staff.

Yes, mistakes will be made but I figure, at the end of the day, EJ and the other coaches know a lot more about what buttons to push for the Zards to win than I do. And, thus far this season, they've done a pretty good job, imo.

Nice for you. I truly hope you enjoy your approach to being a Wizard fan.

But please leave us others to enjoy our second guessing line up by line up silly mindless evaluations because it's how we enjoy being fans and we don't enjoy sitting by excepting everything EJ does. If he does just a few small things wrong I don't think anyone get on him. But EJ is known to outright blow it.

EJ got it right last night at the end with that move but he has gotten it wrong lots of other times. Songaila is a different player now. I doubt any disagreed with that move given how hot Songaila was in the post vs what Haywood was doing.

Co-sign, these question nothing peeps remind me of the mindless "support our troops" lemmings. The so-called "Surge" would have happened much sooner, and thousands of lives saved, had more people not sat silent on the sidelines, watching the war on TV.

You have every right to second guess, play wannabe NBA coach, etc. I would be the last person to deny you that right--in fact I'd be the first to defend it. But I'm also going to maintain my right to criticize and make fun of some of the nonsense that I read on this board.

.

I agree that EJ has gotten it wrong lots of times. The record will show that I've said on more than one occasion that he's far from a perfect coach. But EJ's gotten it right more often than some of you are willing to admit.

Yes, Songaila is a "different player now." That's because his coach stuck with him when some on this board would have traded him for a ham sandwich.
